Wouldn't it have been ironic if all the old PW cast were on the jury? I was kind of half expecting that actually for some reason O_o...

:edgeworth: ... You called me all the way from Germany to press a button Wright?
:hobohodo: Yep.
:maya: I LOVE pressing buttons! *presses everything*
:hobohodo: Gahh Maya stop it! Now we're at a tie! Guess it's up to jurist no.6 to be the tie-breaker!

I'm pretty sure Phoenix figured it out and added her to the jury. It becomes more apparent after handling the mason system.

(Eh... I think my post got eated. ._.)

For some reason I thought the old PW cast would be selected on the jury. Definitely would've explained why they didn't show up in the game. (Not to mention it might've been epic to see that)

:edgeworth: You called me all the way from Germany to press a button, Wright?
:hobohodo: Yep.
, :maya: Oooo! I love pressing buttons! *presses all the buttons dozens of times*
:hobohodo: Maya nooo! AAAhhh! Now we have a tie of guilty and not guilty! Looks like it's up to juror no.6 to be the tie-breaker now!

And on that note... If you press Guilty, it was one vote more for Guilty. If you vote Not Guilty, it would've been unanimous. How did THAT work??

Videogame logic. Not to be confused with real-world logic. =p
If videogames make murderers, then guns kill people and spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

Of course I had to try the bad ending before getting the good one. And it certainly was depressing. ;___;

Lets see 5 of them said not guilty and you decide. In the real world all verdicts have to by unanimous decision or else it creates a hung jury...and on that note when Phoenix says or a jury may never be reached.

In the United States, the result is a mistrial, and the case may be retried. Some jurisdictions permit the court to give the jury a so-called Allen charge, inviting the dissenting jurors to re-examine their opinions, as a last ditch effort to prevent the jury from hanging. Thus creating the bad ending because I think I remember that they would of had to further deliberate on whether she was guilty or not.
The source of that is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hung_jury
But this still confuses me on the issue of Vera and the doctors o.O
We need an expert on this -_-

I want to see a fic that justifies Lamiroir's decision!

"... and this, Mr. Wright, is what happens when you try to manipulate the judicial system," she writes in a little note. "Tonight, I will resign from this hung jury and get replaced. I'm sure my replacement will make the right decision - but it must be done properly. If anybody questions this verdict, it will be worse for all of us. I've spoken to Prosecutor Edgeworth, and he agrees. This has to be airtight."

Vera dies.

"Um, I take that back?"

I don't really see the whole point of the "why would anyone choose guilty? The juror system was a waste of time." argument. I mean the Juror system is basically the same thing you had in JFA where you could choose to show the video tape or not. Same exact thing. Yet no one complained and went "why wouldn't you show the video tape?" in JFA.

and well I don't know the bad ending didn't suck as much as people are claiming.

The miracle never happen.
The bad ending could've been a tad bit more epic than that.

JFA's bad ending was more complex than this one. Instead of being a simple "Yes/No" kind of answer, you instead have to think about which the key piece of evidence to present. The question wasn't "Do you present the video tape?", it was instead "What evidence do I present, and to who?" While I didn't find this very hard to deduce, the correct answer is still harder to come up with compared to picking "Not Guilty" over "Guilty."

In any case, while AA4's bad ending was disappointing compared to "The miracle never happen," I think that the entire decision of "Not Guilty or Guilty" was only created so that the player could see Lamiroir's bracelet, and that Thalassa/Lamiroir served on the jury.

There are several reasons.

First, JFA didn't ask "Do you want to win the game?" It asks "Do you want to win the game, and do you know HOW to win it?" Granted, it was easy, but at least it was something. Your analogy of "why wouldn't you show the video tape?" is completely flawed; that would only work if it DID explicitly ask if you wanted to show the video tape. There's a major difference between having to know which piece of evidence to present (even if it isn't hard), plus who to present it to (again, even if it isn't hard) and knowing whether you want to win the game or not.

The other thing is that the viewpoint doesn't shift in JFA. It's Phoenix all the way through. You don't suddenly at the last minute switch to someone else to make the decision. No, Phoenix, who you've played as for the whole case, is the one who has to make the decision at the end.

Your analogy is really flawed from the beginning, because the choice ISN'T "to present the video tape or not". No, it's "do I present the video tape, the gun, the uniform, or one of the various other pieces of evidence?" followed by "Which of these 11 people do you want to present to?" It's a completely different situation.

So really, JFA was a completely different situation. A little easy? Sure. But you're not sure about whether what you're presenting is correct until after you present it (and just to keep the suspense up, at first it looks like you did it wrong!). You could be pretty sure, but not completely sure. For AP, you're 100% going in what the correct answer is. And mind you, in JFA, that final choice DIDN'T occur after the most anticlimactic moment of any case in the series.
