Well, I was playing AJ Case 3 on my DS and when I put it in my pocket it suddenly had this weird multicolour blur on the top screen or something when I tried to start playing again.
I didn't do anything like drop it, so I don't know what happened.
I'd appreciate some help.
Now I can't play with the top screen.
BTW, this is in the Hydeout because I was playing AJ and AJ's board is here, but if you think it should be in the Police Station, then please move it.
Back, check out LOZ AA.

Kind of sounds like it melted. I had cheap, pocket electronic games in the 90s that did that when they were left in the sun, but they all still worked... but LCD screens do that when they get too hot.

Hope you still have your warranty. A friend of mine gave me their DS with a broken top screen and I figured I'd just get it repaired, but in the end repairing the stupid thing was only $30 or so short of buying a new one so I just got a fancy (at the time) DSlite.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But then, since it sounds like it isn't the screen isn't shattered maybe it won't be as bad as it was for me. :sadshoe:

Is it an old DS? Because my one was really old and the same thing happened to it. It was still playable, but it was annoying. So I just got a purdy black DS Lite.

I got it around the same time as it first came out so yeah, it's pretty old.
The touch screen seems to work, just not the top.
And it was working just fine yesterday before I placed it in my pocket.
Also, I never carry magnets. :kyouya:

Something like that happened to me.
It involved a backpack, lots of heavy books, a mix-up, and a stall on My First Ace Attorney.

Yeah, I suggest buying a new one.

Er, that has something to do with.. something. Yeah. I don't remember, but I read an article on it once. Apparently you can buy something that basically just flashes colors like crazy so it goes away and your DS works again, but there's a small risk it'll "brick" your DS. Don't worry, it has nothing to do with the game.

Probably the ribbon cable got nudged or something - but then again, the DS wouldn't boot if that was the case (does a quick POST before it displays it's Health & Safety warning) and just switches itself off it something is wrong.

If it's out of warranty, buy a new one or (if you're daring) take it apart and take a peek.

In 2005 (I had a launch DS at the time) I once had something like this. However, it was all over the screen. My dad happened to have been sleeping on top of it, and it was under the pillow. It was surprisingly expensive to get fixed because they had to open it up and stuff.

Fast forward to last week. After having a cracked hinge for the past month or two and teh sound failing, my DS stopped recharging. We found that just getting the hinged fixed would be $75. So a few days ago, I got a used red DS (I'll get a Lite sometime, just not now) for about the same price as the hinged, and it works fine. :will:

Get the used DS deal, unless the price quote is cheaper.

:keiko: Congratulations, Your Nintendo DS top screen has imploded! :keiko:

Seriously, The same thing happen to me with a GBA and got the same multicolour blur that you currently have. I called Nintendo about it a few years and told that's what happened. They say it's due to body heat and or pressure forced on the system. You can try to send in for your repairs (to replace the screen) or buy a new one. Chance are that'll cost about the same, so you should start looking into a new one.

I'm probably going to buy a DS Lite, shouldn't be long before I can. 2-3 weeks or so max.

Oooh! This happened to me! I got the screen replaced. It was around $60-70, which is cheaper than a new DS. ^_^
