Okay, I finished 4-1, and started 4-2 for 10 minutes, and what to say...
I didn't expect it to be nearly as great as the PW trilogy, but...
4-1 is the second worst case in the series.
And it's only a bit better than 2-1. Thankfully, I was complimented but 2-2, one of the best cases in the series, and later, 2-4, which was pure awesome.
But for starting a new trilogy, 4-1 fails. For newcomers and PW fans too.
What kind of case is this? Nothing is solved. I didn't feel the success that I won, it was just... confusing and unsatisfying.
Payne, the judge and Phoenix ofc were good, and to be honest, Kristoph isn't bad either, but... I just don't know.
I couldn't relate to Apollo at all.
I remember playing 1-1 and 1-2 back then, and I was amazed. I cared about the characters. It touched me. 4-1 didn't.

All I care about is what the hell happened 7 years ago? What mockery did Capcom made up? And how and why did Phoenix adopt that stupid Trucy? I mean, Maya was childish, too, but in a good way. Trucy is just annoying. At least, yet.

Of course, I'll play through the game just to find out... HOW CAN PHOENIX LIVE WITH TRUCY AND NOT MAYA AND PEARL?
They should give a VERY VERY GOOD REASON! The PW trilogy had a great, happy and satisfactory ending. And now they just f*ck it all up?

So anyway, don't forget that I only played 4-1 and the beginning of 4-2 yet. Maybe later the game will actually become good... Okay, the game if good. Not bad by any means, but it's just like Final Fantasy X-2.

*goes back to playing*

Well... you may be disappointed with most of the game.

And I honestly loved 4-1.

I thought it was a decent case, you may think 4-2 is predictable, and 4-3 may be a bit slow at the beginning but it picks up fast. 4-4 is what brings all the turnabouts together, and makes me love the game. It makes everything connect and when I think about all the other turnabouts in the game, they just seem awesome, because 4-4 adds information to each case and makes them extra special. Well... thats what I think anyway. Apollo Justice is my second favorite game in the series while T&T is my first.

They also explain the 7 year gap in the game so dont worry about it. Your questions will be answered. As for Trucy being annoying, I really didnt think she was that bad. She definitely reminded me of Maya in a sense, but yeah... I cant really say anything about that.

Okay, I'm more than halfway through the so-called investigation of 4-2 (first day), and so far it sucks. It's just... so pointless... it's so boring.
And Trucy sucks. She isn't even half as good as Maya. Or Pearl. Or Ema.

I hope something will happen eventually :)
I mean, 3-2, the Stolen Turnabout the first half was only a theft, but it was fun. This one just isn't.

And why Hickfield? He got kicked out of the Hotti clinic?

Okay, I reached the end of the investigation.
Now I need to rest. I need to think... I want to like this game. Even if not as much as the others in the series, but I don't want it to be another Final fantasy X-2.
That was another one of the "screw up a greatly closed story".

Overall GS4's pretty good... It just starts out kinda slow. Although I do agree that :maya: > :minuki: .

4-4 will clear a lot of stuff up.

But I digress, first playthrough is really confusing and all other playthroughs are like "Duh that was easy." :nick:

I have many yaoi OTPs which overlap... And most of which involve the Gavins.
I do write/support yuri and het from time to time though.

Hmm, being over the first trial of the second case, I've gotta say... this isn't that bad after all.
It's like when I played Final fantasy 7, after 4, 5 and 6. In some aspects it's a step back, but overall, it's not much worse.
I was very disappointed with FF7 for the first time, but later I realized that it's quite good on its own.

I couldn't even get myself to play more than an hour in FF4 (maybe it was because I was playing the far superior Chrono Trigger). I actually completed FF7 and loved it.

The investigation on the first day in 4-2 was always a little odd to me. It was all so... I don't know... different, I guess?

Apollo justice is a completely different story. They are trying to Start up his arc while simultaneously closing Phoenix's. If this game doesnt work for you then I know the next one will since it probably will only be about Apollo and can focus only on his arc.

Okay, I finished 4-2.

Although the first investigation kinda... off, didn't seem to have anything to to with the case itself... and the case being given only the very end, without talking to the client... It was also frustrating how Apollo got the case, and how he accepted it, just because he was bored and looking for a job. I guess it's realistic, but I prefer 1-2.
The trial was okay. Klavier is funny with this "Herr Forehead" thing and all. Trucy... I gotta admit... as frustrated I was how Maya, one of my all time favorite VG characters was replaced with her... Trucy isn't bad. Not worse than Ema was in 1-5.
Phoenix... now I'm really curious what happened. I really hope they made nothing canonical that erased the idea of my favorite pairing (guess which lol).
And Apollo... is okay too. I can't relate to him as much as to Phoenix, but he is almost tied with Edgeworth.

By the way, I heard that the 3rd case will be even better. That's good news for me. AA4 might be the weakest in the AA (so far) tetralogy, but it still stands out as a great game.

Ha ha, I must admit I agree..
4-1 is the best case in the game though. Phoenix ♥
4-3 is the worst.

4-1 was awesome.

4-4, on the other hand...I've played Superman 64, Action 52 (both versions), and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, and they're all better than that case.

Are you kidding? That case is one of the best in the series. It is what makes apollo justice so good. Without that case everything would seem so separate and unrelated.

How does everyone love 4-1 so much?

It was so... unexplained. And Apollo did almost nothing.

Apollo did just as much as Phoenix did in 1-1. And while it did feel unexplained, it's supposed to be that way. Its not like Kristoph's motive and such stays a giant plot hole for the rest of the game. I think you'll come to like it better after you've finished the game.

...Or you might not, since there seems to be more than a few AJ haters.

Spoiler: 4-1
Phoenix did everything. Phoenix manipulated the courtroom despite not being a lawyer. Phoenix finally got Kristoph put away. Phoenix is the best.

And I think 4-1 is more fun when you have basic spoilers on 4-4. AJ is one game you want to spoil earlier, I think. Otherwise it's even more depressing re. Phoenix.

Personally I feel that AJ should have had five cases, with one tutorial case in the beginning where Kristoph is still mentoring you, and then 4-1 as the second case, changed and spread out with normal investigations, etc. It would make the "twist" better IMO.

I thought 4-1 was excellent. As another poster said 4-2 started off slowly and just seemed "Meh... pointless" at first but picked up, but at the end of 4-2 I felt like some things were unanswered...
Spoiler:
Alitia was an asshole.. check. But Pat wasnt totally innocent either. And Wocky wasnt innocent either.. he had intent to kill Pat as well, doesnt matter that he didnt do it?

Klavier is cool, but I think Godot was cooler (thus far).

4-1 is one of my fav starter cases ever love having phoneix at my side and with old objection theme. Also it is mainly set up for case 4-4 where all your questions will be answered i mean payne says khristoph has admitted to everything but we don't know why he did it, yet you find out in 4-4 which alone is pure awesome only downside to 4-4 is the final trial date is rather short but still fun
OBJECTION " i objection this is objectionable"

OBJECTION " i object to the witnesses talkitiveness"
