Yes, it means "the mirror" in French, but what is so "mirroring" about Thalassa's character?

I guess, maybe, she couldn't see herself in the mirror when she was blind?

And thus, you have the phrase smoke & mirrors...which is open for interpretation depending how you see the game's events.

Well, Lamiroir is 'The Mirror' of Thalassa. Mirror image, because they're identical. Identical, because they're the same person xP

Lamiroir is her stage name. Her songs reflect what she sees.

...I didn't think of that.

Wait a minute, if Lamiroir is mirror in French, what's her French name? "Introducing Mirror and Tomas Kashkash" doesn't sound right.

Lamiroir is not a real word. "Miroir" is, and it's mirror in french. But Lamiroir itself is merely a made up word containing the french version of mirror to make room for some name puns and/or foreshadowing.

This.

She's the landscape painter in sound, remember? Her "thing" was that she took in a landscape, then perfectly conveyed its beauty in song for others. The listeners don't get to see what she did, but they get the reflection in the mirror. Of course, we all know it was just made up, but her stage name would reflect what she is known for, and the imagery of a mirror is rather beautiful, so it helps.

I think that's what the translators intended, but I thought of another interpretation....

What if she "reflects" the Gramaryes as a whole? The "Gramarye darkness" ('cause Polly is all melodramatic and calls it that xD) begins with her accident, and that's also when she becomes blind and is cast in darkness. Then all the stuff across the 7 years happens, the darkness multiplies, yadda yadda yadda, and Thalassa goes deeper into the darkness, adopting a new life and identity. Then, when 4-4 happens and the Gramarye darkness is gotten rid of and stuff, she gets the operation and returns to the light. Yay! :D

Well, since they are japanese names, spelling Yagami backwards in hiragana would be "migaya" and Izanami backwards would be "minazai", a la Blue Screen inc.'s very own Koike Keiko and Oka Takao. So there! Problem solved.

Seen that one before. Plus it was in comic-form. Which makes it so much better.

(It was a panel from Death Note and he replaced the text, so it was drawn well and everything xD)

I've seen people make that same joke using Iori Yagami from KOF, way before Death Note took off in popularity.
