Anyone else feel that Payne kind of got shafted in 4-1? After the first part of the case aka Makhoto's testimony Payne does not seem to have a prominent role in the case at all.
Spoiler:
I mean when Garyuu takes the stand it's mostly Phoenix, Odoroki, and him going at each other while the judge and payne just sit along for the ride. Not so much the judge but Payne did not seem to do much when Garyuu took the stand.

Anyone else share this feeling?

Panye lacks skill you have to say, when the heat is turned up he can't talk or come up with anything to say. The judge..well he is the judge.

Well I mean after 3-1 where Payne never shut his trap unless Dahlia yelled at him. In 4-1 Payne after the moment I mentioned above kinda dissapears in importance in the case.

He was meant to appear more confident and taunting in 3-1, he hadn't faced Mia yet, remember? :P

Hey's...Payne. By definition, he lacks IMPACT.

I thought it was kind of funny, really XD;;

Hair channeling! Brilliant!
Payne is a loser in all things. In my view, he's a minor character meant to help orient people to the game as well as boost the self-confidence of new players. His 'personality' isn't really a major factor, even though the arrogance meter's still pretty high up there for someone who fails at everything.

I kinda noticed that too. Then again, there were times when Kyouya was prosecuting when I was like "oh, yeah, there's a prosecutor here or something" so maybe it was just me. (The judge was kinda forgettable too. I think his best moments were in 4-3, and even those were offset by him asking to ROLL THAT DAMN FOOTAGE because he didn't see what they were talking about two or three times)

I wonder if it is cause of the Minuku system that characters such as Kyouya, Payne, and the Judge seem less prominent then the old Prosecutors and Judge. Instead of having to point out a contradiction and explain it to the confused judge and irritated prosecutor, you just zoom in on the person, and stare them down until they crack and say the truth. Basically the Magatama system but in court.

I'm not talking about Payne being incompetent at being a prosecutor, I'm talking about his actually time being a part of the case, after the said spot above Payne does nothing to try and prove Wright guilty basically. Its like the writers forgot he was there, giving him an occasional judge line or two.

Payne is the kind of comedy relief character that everyone in the series ignores cause he's supposed to come off as pathetic.

Like only one person in this whole topic has actually responded stating their thoughts on that :chinami:

Maybe they wanted to emphasize his being forgettable, replaceable.
