Would you rather have "Surprise Lawboy" as Odoroki's english name?

Cause that's pretty much what his Japanese name is. :yuusaku:

But it isn't the same in Japanese. ALL kind of names mean something there. For example the common Name "Suki" means "like". So, yeah.

"Apollo Justice" isn't too bad; it just sounds too Greek and invites a few 300 references. :|

With all the clever names that they came up with in PW:AA and JFA, you'd think they'd come up with somthing better.
Geez, if that's the best they can come with, I'd hate to see what name they'll on the rest of the cast.
It's not too late to voice our opinions, though. Heck, TF fans were able to get some amount of satisfaction when Megatron's movie was first introduced (I believe that their disgust led to them "altering" the appearance or something). I think that alone can speak for the power of the fanbase.

That could mean that we'd see "Javado Beckett" in GS3 after all, then. :|

The only problem I have is the Justice part. It's way too cheesy and obvious, I would have preferred Lawson...

Yes! Clearly our only options are a terrible literal "translation" of the Japanese, or a terrible English name! No middle ground exists!

seriously i have to agree they have been a bit less cheesy in the past and i find it hard that the top guns on this project actually signed off on this as the localized name
I <3 kittens they are too damned sexy. :hobohodo:

Wendy Oldbag is a clever name. I really liked it. Same with names like Will Powers, Jack Hammer and Sal Monella. Hah, all in the same case even.

Also, please read my post.

Like I said, he was called LAWBOY IN JAPANESE for christ's sake. That's even more cheesy than Justice. It's MEANT to be strange, because Phoenix says so in the script.

Problem is, it appears that even cheesy names sound like actual names in japanese. Cheesy names just sound cheesy in english.

For instance, this would mean that Sahwit wouldn't be called sahwhit but mister Saw Crime. and Phoenix Wright would be Reviver Correct.

Much better suggestions would be Justin Case, or even Mr. Lawson.

I guess it's like Star Force. I mean, Geo Stellar just doesn't cut it either.

See? They change 'Windy' to 'Wendy' to make it look like a name. And 'Power' to 'Powers' for a similar reason, not to mention 'Right' to 'Wright'. They sound like NAMES, not WORDS. There is no 'nameness' in 'Justice', but there IS in 'Justin', for instance.

But Justice is a real last name. An overly convenient pun of a last name, mind you, but a last name still.

Justice is the #933 most common last name.
0.013% of last names in the US are justice.
Around 32500 US last names are justice!

lawson is the #200 most common last name.
0.051% of last names in the US are lawson.
Around 127500 US last names are lawson!

Hmmm... the difference is notable, but not cataclysmic. Ah well.

I sense "We must have justice" and "justice must be done" jokes on the way.

Geeze, all you guys need to calm down.

It's kind of like a little kid begging his parents for a bike. He begs and begs, and when he finally gets one he starts screaming and crying because it isn't the color he wanted. Makes him sound just a little ungrateful if you ask me.

What I'm trying to say is that if Apollo Justice really is the name they give him, I think we should look past the fact that it's a so-called "cheesy name" and be happy that GS4 is being released in English.

I didn't mean to be harsh towards my fellow fans, but complaining about a name is one of the most pointless things I have ever seen.

If you want to talk about the name, talk about it in the original thread. There's no reason for this thread to be here.
