Yes, I liked this topic.

Last I posted it was:

Odoroki : Laurel (Laura's brother from The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield) or Lawrence Turner.

Minuki : Mina.

Garyuu : MILES EDGEWORTH LOL Gary U. Gary Smiles?

EDIT: I can't seem to find a way my Odoroki names will work with the "Mr. Fine" joke. Sorry.

Odoroki I've only felt comfortable with the first name being Justin. I think it matches his young-ness.

As for Big G, he needs a more classy name.

Little G has to be named after a rocker.

Um. Odoroki... it means "Surprise", but we can't call him "Surprise" now, can we?

Eh... Spark? Shocko? Sparkle? XD. Boo? XD This ain't no Monsters Inc.

My responses from the earlier topic

Quote:
Why the need for a 'Fine' gag?

Or is the 'Daijobu' pun deeper than Odoroki's incessant insistence that he's fine?

Quote:
I like the last name Lawson. My choices for Odoroki's name:

Watt Lawson (Watt for the 'shocking' puns, and Lawson since...well, he's a son of the Law? tongue.gif)

Or alternatively, Watt Lyons (Lyons for his burning red 'lionheart').

For Minuki...I like the name Crystal or Clare.

For the Garyuu's, I'd stick with a G name since it'd make Kyouya's pendant less of a hassle to explain. Last name, Gaines (as in they 'gained' all that they are by themselves).

Kirihito would be Michael Gaines (Michael coming from the archangel).

Kyouya would be Leslie Gaines (Leslie coming from 'Les' of Les Paul).

Les Paul just doesn't fit the bill for the rock reference, I find. It'd be like calling Axl Low "Jimi".

I myself actually rather like "Frederick Shock" for Odoroki. It keeps the pun in the name, and like Phoenix->Nick, you can give "Frederick" a nickname.

I want to say "Mistbourne" as the last name for the brothers, but the G emblem makes that problematic.

Minuki, I have no idea. Yuusaku

I like the name "Lawson", but I don't think it'll work too well as a last name. Kind of makes things backwards, and will make possible pun translation that much harder, since the last name is "Odoroki" in Japanese, and he'll be addressed by his last name in court. o.o

Lawson doesn't sound horrible as a first name, though, and Lawrence sounds great of course.

I'm stumped with how to do Odoroki as well. Ini Mimi Addleson? The nuance is slightly off, but it's sorta close. The name will probably end up being Marvel as some people have suggested. Lawrence Marvel is my current prediction for the stateside name.

As for my own ideas...

Garyuu Kirihito: Neil Idle. Garyuu can mean a great person hidden in a crowd... standing "idle", so to speak, waiting to execute their "garyuutensei" (final decisive step). As for Neil, it seems that one possible origin of the name is "cloud"... very tenuous link with "mist" there. I'd prefer to find a name that sounds more like a pun, though, regarding him being a "mystery man" (kirihito).

Garyuu Kyouya: Leo Idle. Leo = lion = roar = echo... yeah, it's a stretch, I know. But the last name allows for a great band name pun: Idle Wave!

Oh, and I like the Mina suggestion above, for Minuki. Minuki Although Claire is a pretty clever translation/pun as well, I believe someone up there said it. *ponder*

EDIT: Crap, didn't even think about the G emblem. Do both brothers have that, or just one? If it's just Kyouya, might be able to get away with calling him Gavin or something. If it's used for both, or if it's used as a symbol for the band, then it's back to square one I guess. Yanni Yogi

Lawson Sparks like I had suggested once before in the old thread? Odoroki

Something like that would make it easier for judge to make puns off seeing as he addresses everyone by their last names.

I don't think they'll make it Lawrence since that's Moe's real first name

Hmm, yeah, I didn't even think about Lawrence Curls. Oops!

Ummm. Hmm. Lawson Sparks... Something about "Sparks" doesn't rub me right, to be honest. But I'd prefer it to anything else I can come up with at this point.

Hm, what about Lawson Prize? "That comes as quite a surprise, Mr. Prize!" Odoroki

Not much better, I know =p

EDIT:

Hawking. "That's quite shocking, Mr. Hawking!"

Blaze. "I'm amazed, Mr. Blaze!" (heart burning red... >_>)

Odoroki Dragon Redhart

That's the only name I like, though it doesn't seem to fit well with Odoroki's personality... Then again, Naruhodou isn't much of a "Phoenix" since the only reason he can turn the tables around during cross-examinations is through trickery, which is more suited to a fox...

Oh, and...

I like the idea of naming Odoroki something like Jaques Lawrence...Jaques rhymes a bit with shock (it can rhyme even more if you say it improperly, which a lot of people do).

Oh, and as for the Garyuus...since the kanji for their names means either self-taught man, a great man, or dragon fang...their last names should be Trogdor! I mean, Trogdor WAS a Dragon-Man, and besides, who wouldn't like a band called Trogdor Wave?

Odoroki Ember Watt

If only he was a girl. XD

Ember - A small, glowing piece of coal or wood, as in a dying fire. Surprisingly, it is actually a real name. Referring to him (or her :P) being all fired up.

Watt - The watt (symbol: W) is the SI unit of power. It is named in honour of the physicist James Watt. Also sounds like 'What' which would be hilarious to read. Phoenix Also reminds me of the Science teacher I had years ago with that surname.

Odoroki I have hear evidence that Mr Write didn't murder the victim!

This looks fun, i'll give it a go. XD;;

Housuke Odoroki : Lawrence Blaze (Lawrence was the best name for him. Ever. Blaze because it fits, if it's kind of random... >.>;; )

Minuki : Dorothy (This may seem ambiguous, but if they can use Morgan le Fey, I can use this person. XD)

Kirihito Garyuu : Geoff Sharpe (I originally thought of Victor, but I thought it would be appropriate it began with G. Geoff means peace and such.)

Kyouya Garyuu : Gunnar Sharpe (Phew, this one has so many meanings. For starts, Gunnar means "warrior," and is a reference to Guns 'n Roses (who were a part of NWoBHM, New Wave of British Heavy Metal), spelt almost like gunner, as in someone who shoots, blah blah. Deep stuff. >.>)

And that's it... blah.
