I honestly can't wait :godot: I'm very very sad...

With the walkthroughs and translations out there, would it be worth getting GS4 now and playing through it in Japanese, or just waiting a year or so to get it in english (and save about $20)? :payne: I'll probably wait if someone can talk me out of it, but I'm seriously dying to play this game NOW

Sad, aren't it? :sadshoe: I really have no life...

Wait for the English.

You'd get a better feel for the plot and be able to play the game without being glued to your computer. I wouldn't buy a game I couldn't understand.

Eh, thats true.

I'd be 101% convinced to wait for the english if they could conform weither or not they will have the Limited Edition release with the english game as well, I'd rather pay more for that and have it in english with all the extras, then pay $50 for the JPN game and have... well just a game in japanese o.o

Definitely wait for the english.

Since I wanted the special edition so badly, I made myself play through the game.

Wait until the date is announced for the English version, and then if it's too far away for you, import.

That's probably what I'll do... I mean, I'm getting a rudimentary learning in Japanese as well, so that'll help.

Definitely wait. It'll be so much more worth it to be patient. And especially don't buy it if you go to an anime convention where dealers display the Limited Edition Japanese game (that huge package of schtuff) and sell it for like $180. >_<

I'm quite confident that Capcom will deliver some form of the Limited Edition set, in light of any 'annoucement' to support or dis-confirm otherwise. When Lost made the topic on the Capcom boards, the Dictionary was the most requested item along with GS3 and GS4's localization.

Other interesting items in that topic have also materialized, for example...

The Fan Anthologies: They're ready to ship for the English Market in March if I remember.
Solitaire Card Deck: An Item already out in Japan, and non-existant a month ago
Plushies: GS3 Preorder item
Anime: Vaguely addressed as 'Gyakuten Video Product'
Love for non-Americans: Europe's getting all the non-Japanese promos for GS4 (This is actually the development I'm most impressed with)

That's alot they've addressed already. So I'm quite confident that the most demanded item might find it's way to the states in some way shape or form.

For Europe, I'm not quite sure, The dictionary would need a LOT of localization, no more then the games, obviously, but there is still the multitude of languages in Europe. It's an inescapable barrier that's hindered many games there. But Capcom is clearly aware of the Mass importing, maybe this is an experiment in reverse. What happens if a game is released in Europe first? Sales are always skinky there because importers go for the States or Japan first. This makes Europe look like less of a cash cow then it really is.

I don't think import sales make very much difference, actually. Most of the casual players who make up the majority of the sales probably wouldn't import. I know the fanbase isn't that casual on the whole, but still.

Honestly, I don't think we'll ever see a "limited edition" set for GS4 anything like the Japanese did. When Rise From the Ashes came out over there, the limited edition came with with stylus and an entire new manga, while we only got the stylus with JFA. And with T&T, the Japanese supposedly got all those special box art inserts, while we got a stuffed keychain of dubious quality.

The Encyclopedia will, more likely than not, never be localized. It's a mountain of text, most of which just isn't that interesting or insightful. It doesn't seem to have any information at all that isn't already in the games and fanbooks. Even if you CAN speak Japanese, it's only real worth is as a collector's item.

Anyway, to answer the real question, I don't think it's worth it to buy the game if you don't speak Japanese. The walkthroughs available now spoil every decision in the game. If you really like being able to solve the cases yourself, you should wait for the English.

I may indeed be over playing Europe's import market, but regardless Europe has two layers of Importers to deal with. The USA only has one. And as I stated, I think this may be an experiment regarding how much the import market impacts.

That IS true, I try to avoid the guides lest I get absolutely stuck ^^;; I didn't think of that, the walkthroughs would only point to the right answer..

Didn't even get the plushie with my T&T pre-order so =/ Maybe too hopeful thinking of a limited edition of GS4 TToTT Maybe we'll atleast get the sexy box and Odoroki headphones...

Gwiffen: I've acctually found everything ALOT cheaper at conventions then online....... EXCEPT for video games X_X Now that I really think about it... stupid imports of games that weren't even RARE that were $50 a pop...

To add more doubt to the possibility of a special edition release in the USA, the promo dvd will have be stripped quite a bit of it's japanese trailers unless capcom subs them.

I'm almost thinking of selling my GS4 special edition when the US game comes out.
