What people (not all people of course) seems to forget that the name of the series isn't ''Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney'' but ''ace Attorney'' alone. Acording to another friend of mine (who is currently learning Japanesse) Said that Saiban meant court. Meaning the the Japanesse name of the series have nothing to do With Phoenix Wright.
Comments, anyone?

A huge majority of the Phoenix arc characters just got plowed over by some new generation of questionable stability, and those remaining either did a personality 180 or they played a pointless part--so there goes several years of development.

I think people overlook the advantage of having a new main character--it lets you view the old main in a fresh light. Introducing Raiden put Snake in a special role that he could not have taken had he been in the forefront, and the same goes for Apollo and Phoenix.
Of course, not everyone likes Pheonix's new role. But being able to see him from a new angle helped me go back through the first three games and re-think what I knew about it. And I like Phoenix (old and new) better than ever because of it.
It's sad to see favorite characters go away or change, but they had to go eventually. I'm glad they made the change before Phoenix and his friends got stale.

As weird as it sounds, it might've been easier if they dropped Nick cold-turkey style. Start brand new and fresh, instead of a lingering aftertaste. And if I sounded like I just contradicted my last post: I'm sad to see Phoenix and Co. go, but the way GS4 was handled kinda disturbed me. Nick really only had one tie to Apollo (two technically... but...) and that was the role of the innocent bystander.
But that doesn't matter... and now all that can be done is damage control: AKA: Denial and a massive abundance of fanfiction! *shot*

I certainly see where you are coming from--but I still think it could've been better handled. Perhaps if they made Apollo's part a separate wing or spinoff of Nick's, instead of Nick passing the baton years later.

Uhh... yeah, Saiban means Court or Trial... but that isn't uncommon to know if your a Phoenix Wright (Super)fan...
And yes, people need to just chill out and accept Polly. Whats wrong with him? Don't get me wrong, I loved Phoenix Wright, but I think I'm one of the only people who likes Apollo BETTER than Phoenix.
Just look; the vest, the rolled up sleeves, the hair... All Phoenix had was a Blue suit and spiky hair! Apollo's just like Phoenix... but with rolled up sleeves!
Scratch the "Apollo = Phoenix" part. Anyways, people just need to look into Capcom's eyes... would they really want to make a gazillion games starring the same character?... well, OK, I guess they would, but would YOU? And Phoenix is done, anyways. He became an even better Attorney than Mia, shows over. New character announced.
So, my main point is live with the fact that Phoenix is done with. Move onto Apollo!

- Mega Man: Cute. Small. Can slide and charge his shot. Can steal other robots weapons. Fights for ever-lasting-peace, or Roll won't serve him dinner. Never mind people dying if need be!

- Megaman.exe: Computer program, based on the DNA/memory of Lan's brother Hub. Can shoot a wide varity of weapons, based on chips. Has little personality outside being heroric. Else Roll.exe won't serve him data-chips.
- Lan: Human. Steriotypical anime late-for-school-ignores-the-love-of-a-girl-he-really-likes-and-goes-arround-saving-the-world-with-a-newfound-power character. Laughs alot. Irresponsible, and leaves all the work up to megaman.exe, only giving him battle chips.
- Geo *snicker* Stellar: Borderline emo due to loss of father. Human, for once. Doesn't really like to be approced by others. Can transform into Mega Man, with the aide of Omega/War-Rock. Uses cards to shoot a wide varity of weapons.
- Vent and Aile: I really don't know what to say about them... Well, they can fuse with biometal and crawl. They deliver stuff. Human. That's basicly it, right...?
- Grey: Well, I don't know what to say about him... Well, they can fuse with biometal and crawl. They can fire a pistol. Has large cables sticking out his back. I have no idea what Ashe is about.
I havn't played Legends, so I can't comment on that, but... the characters are diffrent. Quite diffrent, in fact.
Capcom likes to replace the main character from time to time. I mean, in each Breath of Fire game in the series, you play as a diffrent Ryu/Nina duo in a diffrent storyline. And while you COULD bring Street Fighter 2 as an "oh god, those again?" moment, I havn't played but one of those, so... :P

Hey, I'm less bothered now then before but... Im just saying that Apollo better have just as good background stories as Phoenix had, cause i'd never forgive them if Apollo isn't every bit as much of a thrill ride as Phoenix was...

IMO there's nothing wrong about Nick, but it's not my favourite main character. If the spikes don't count, there is nothing really special in his appearance, and his personality is kinda strange. "He goes with the flow" (he acts differently when he's close to Maya than Gumshoe, for example).
Apollo on the other hand looks like a refreshing new start. I have yet to play the game, but I think I'm going to enjoy playing as him more than I enjoyed playing as Phoenix. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ace Attorney, but if I could have played the Phoenix Wright trilogy as someone else than Nick, I would have.
I'm really looking forward to play as Apollo. Although his surname is corny.
