When I first learned we would get to talk to Kristoph in jail I though, "sweet, prison uniform!" I was sorely disapointed when he showed up still in his suit. What kind of prison lets you wear your street clothes?

Did anyone else want to see Kristoph in an orange jumpsuit? It's not like we haven't had a character with multiple outfits before (Mia, Maya, and Phoenix).

To be fair.

Kristoph is also in solitary with a library, comfy chair, access to confidential trial information and visitors.

Maybe, they wanted to conserve cart space for all those flashbacks

I thought that was pretty messed up too. I can rationalize everything as, 'oh, he was a lawyer let's give him special privledges.' Of course, if this was our world Kristoph would have probably been murdered in prison for being a lawyer and such 'I'm better than you' kind of guy. However, since he was a defense attorney he'd probably traded favors with all the prisoners to write and help with their appeals (if he weren't in solitary).

Maybe if he's in GS5 we can see him in prison garb.

Yeah, I get the impression it's more a case of.

1. Kristoph is voluntarily in solitary (he's a sociopath and thus has no need for human interaction)

2. The Prison system in Los Angeles in Phoenix Wright is slightly LESS corrupt than in our world.

Which means, he probably should have had a few more fun things being rich and willing to toss cash around.

They were probably too afraid to make him wear the clothes, since he might appear in a secret passageway behind them and kill them with a wine bottle.

He looks more frightening in his normal clothes.

That would explain a lot of things actually.

Yeah, I guess having him in prison garb would have taken away some of his 'I'm rich and better than you do I can get away with anything' personality.

I was so mad when I learned he was the bad guy (its almost always the cute ones, just think about it and you'll see.)

I dun wanna draw more spriiiiiiiiiites.
I wanna chocolate milk, mom...

I dunno There wasn't big demand to see Edgeworth in a winter coat in 3-5, and there have surely been other scenarios where costumes weren't tweaked to the setting.
I'm gone for so long, and the colors got all psychedelic! Woohoo!

If their prisons are filled with lots of people on death row, it may also be that they allow the inmates privilages because 1) they won't be around long anyway and 2) giving them a few comforts might make them less likely to riot or something.

They do give inmates so comforts when they are in dead row, though, that's probably why Kristoph isn't in prison uniform(bye-bye prison sprite)...although, no one finds it odd that every person found guilty of murder, is killed by the law?

I guess it's like a "Not so good if it's done to you" sort of thing. Irony, or whatever.

So, how come Terry Fawles was wearing prison clothes, then? :onamida:

hm ,at least this wasn't yet another one of those "Man, that ending was poor" threads. But to look at the question.
1. they (the spriters) were most likely too lazy to do it, although at least they took away his badge.
2. Kristoph prides himself on his appearance and what a gentleman he is, having him in prison clothes would take away that.
3. The whole point of his breakdown was to show without his appearance he really has nothing, making him wear prison clothes would take away most of the point of the (short) scene.
4. This exact same question could apply to Morgan Fey as well, they wanted to keep some consistancy I suppose.

The game is very vague on tis subject, we know that Dahlia was executed but Von Karma may quite well have died of old age, the death penalty (except in Borginia) may most likely have gone by AJ's timeline.

I guess between the transition of PW and AJ, some event happened (possibly a riot) and the jail gave them these privileges.

Or the sprite artist was trying to convey some personality in clothes. Really, it doesn't matter.

Thread-winning post.

My guess is that prison garb would ruin Kristoph's look as a composed and callous killer. Having his usual, elegant attire suits his personality better and also points, along with the plush chair and bookshelf, to his shady connections.
