THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE~

So far, there are about three facts that make it seem to me that they should have delayed the Naruhobo case to something other than the obligatory tutorial case.

POINT NUMBER ONE! Naruhobo is accused of becoming a hobomurder.

POINT NUMBER TWO! Ema Skye is returning to the series as (presumably) the detective that you end up working with in the investigations and cross-examining in court.

POINT NUMBER THREE! Ema Skye came under suspicion of murder in Rise From the Ashes, at which point Phoenix had to clear the case of all suspicion or risk having Ema sent to jail for something she didn't do. Ema was, no doubt, very grateful for having been defended SO WELL~ and getting the murder charges dropped for her sister.

Now, the only time you get to cross-examine the detective in the first case is in the second game, and there is no indication that we will be doing so in the fourth game. SO! What would have happened if the Naruhobo case came at a time where Ema would have had to testify against him, the one that had defended her and her sister years ago?

COURTROOM SHENANIGANS, THAT'S WHAT.

Or drama and sad music. Either way.

Yes, there is that whole thing about using a very familiar character in the first case as a grab for people that would have been hesitant about having a new main character, but I personally think that they are missing out on some prime drama by doing this.

DISCUSS?

Uh, they've had Gumshoe testify in a "first" case before, specifically in the second game.

Anyway, I don't think Hobohodo's case comes too early. I consider it as a "passing of the baton" of sorts, where the old meets the new, or something like it.

Exactly. And Hobohodo seems to make this blatantly clear too, as he almost makes it feel like he's testing Odoroki.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!! AH!!!!

On a serious note though, Nick's case is just an ease into the new series. Nothing like a familar face to get you settled in. Sure it would have been well more dramatic if they left it til later with Edgeworth as prosecutor or something but watcha gonna do.

Spoiler:
I bet that waiter did it. All the lead-in witnesses bar defendant and detectives have been murderers. Sahwit was, Wellington was, Chinami was and this waiter probably is. If you don't know what I'm on about concerning this waiter, check out some of Famitsu scans, you can catch a glimpse of him there.

I think all of that is fairly obvious from the start. It's always a witness that's the true killer- after all, and in the first cases, always the witness that specifically came in to point out the defendant.

Then again with the new arc, they might pull a zinger and surprise us that
