=o!!

There is a new defense lobby painting!

What is the painting of.

Moreover, what other changes have we noticed in the court? :o

Wait, I just noticed they got a new couch!

And is it just me, or does the courtroom look better? I don't know why. I can't put my finger on it.

Anyways, anyone else notice something not so obviously new? :o

This was pointed out when the scans first started coming in, and as I recall, the painting is of the judge (either the regular judge or one just like him) staring into the sky.

The courtroom (and by extension, the lobby) probably looks better because the graphics were built from the ground-up for the DS, and thus can look much shinier and such than the updated versions from GS1/GS2 on the DS. The couch is the same, just either getting dull from age or with new covers or something.

Also, I personally think everything looks much darker, especially the full view of the court room.

It's probably because the original courtroom had this large, white background that gave off a brightened effect against the gold-colored benches and stuff, unlike the new courtroom which is mostly dulled in color all around.

It is the number of colors they can now use increased significantly.

GBA has a 256-color (or even less) cap, so developers can only put certain colors inside of a graphic...the old courtroom had to use pure white(255,255,255) on most of its walls and has minimal gray shading, making the room look rather high-contrasted and cartoony.

DS at least can allow 16-bit color(high color), or even in some cases, 32-bit color(true color), so the court room is re-colored and now look more 3-D and smooth.

Yeah, I noticed. I think that's great, and I used the new courtroom in my Phoenix Engine, because, well... I don't know if anybody has noticed, but the ugly dithering from the GBA version is so... obvious!

The aim of dithering and diffusion is to give the impression of smooth shading with many colours, while not using that many colours at all. You blend the colours in a way that it looks flawless and the player is not meant to be able to tell that dithering or diffusion was used.

That's not quite true for Gyakuten Saiban 1-3.

Ok, I think the new couch looks old. I mean, it's all brown, while the old couch is all red. So, I think that they haven't even gotten a new couch. It's just the same one they haven't dusted for about eight or nine years. If Phoenix would get out of the way Sadshoe I would be able to see if the plant is alive, dead, moved, or if they have a new one. I also think we have the same security guards as before. and if you look closely Aiga , in the old lobby, there is a glass trash can, water fountain, ash tray, or something else. But in the new one, though letters are in the way, I don't think it's there.
I really need a new sig...

If we look at the demo, we can see that either the plant bloomed heavily, or was replaced with a similar plant with more leaves on the trunk. Not really all that different, though. Aiga
