And, arguably, any discussion in this thread might conceivably broach 4-4 semi-spoiler territory, so beware. Ahem.

Spoiler: 4=1
The tension is rising, but Apollo has his trump card prepared. He can prove everything now - the exact location of the victim reveals a chain of inescapable logic. Taking a deep breath, he presents the bloodstained card.

KRISTOPH. That evidence is a fraud, and I can prove it.

PHOENIX. ... what?

KRISTOPH. You stated that you didn't touch anything in the room, save the hat, correct?

PHOENIX. Yes. And I stand by that.

KRISTOPH. ...

KRISTOPH. This blood does not belong to the victim.

KRISTOPH. (Unless he was omniscient enough to have walked downstairs, deduced everything then, and collected a blood sample in advance, I believe my deduction is bulletproof.)

KRISTOPH. Shall we have the DNA analyzed?

PHOENIX. No, wait, wait, I forged it! It's not his fault!

KRISTOPH. It's a shame my own student would stoop to presenting forged evidence. But as much as it pains me to say it, I'm afraid we'll have to take steps to have Mr. Justice disbarred.

PHOENIX. ... %$@^.

Yeah...actually you can see Phoenix shuffled away the subject of bloody Ace whenever Kristoph raised it up. He turned to other topics like why the card was taken away or the fingerprint on the murder weapon, which earned him time until the real decisive evidence, I mean the bottle with the diamonds 5 in it was brought to the court. I suppose Kristoph was really shocked when he learned that Nick knew the Ace was bloody and， when Nick was doing his deduction， Kristoph became more and more confused, he couldn't take the risk of making a wrong move at the moment. That man knew a bloody Ace was taken away, when did he figure it out? After all,Nick stated that he realized who was the real killer as soon as he saw Shadi's bare forehead. (and he put the hat back, which make his statement sounds real)

...Personally, I believe the blood did not belong to Shadi...Anyway, no matter it's the victim's blood or not, Nick managed to keep everyone's concentrate away from the fishy card long enough until the real evidence turned up...but I will say it was nothing but his luck. If Shati weren't trying to beat him with a cheat that night, even Kristoph's testimony became decisive evidence( how could he immediately know it was a forged evidence?) and himself got arrested by that, Apollo would be the one who use forged evidence in his first trail and get punishment because of it. I can't say it's nice.

The thing is, though, that Phoenix had figured out that Kristoph was the killer by the time he went down to the crime scene for the second time. He put the hat back onto the victim's head to trap him... noticing the switched card, I'm willing to bet he fabricated the bloody ace right there, before the cops arrived. He'd know where the cards were kept in Borscht, after all. And this is a more careful Phoenix.

So, if Kristoph had pointed out that the card may have been fabricated, and told them to analyse the blood on the card... the result would have not come up as a forgery at all. And suspicion would have turned to the person who was so adamant that it was a fake--Kristoph, and why he was so adamant about it. As Phoenix had pointed out... only the real killer would have known whether the card was fake or not.

If Kristoph had pointed out that he had taken the card, and that he was the actual murderer, he would still not be able to affect Phoenix (or get himself declared innocent, for that matter); the only change would be that Apollo was disbarred. Apparently... he's not evil enough to do that.


Even if Phoenix hadn't fabricated the card right at the scene of the crime... Kristoph would have to had at least suspect he may have done so. And... Phoenix bluffed his way through, as usual. <3

I had a crazy idea based on this, where Winston Payne, not really thinking about it, asks Phoenix how he knows it's the victim's blood. Then when Phoenix refuses to answer they figure something's up. Don't ask how my mind works.

Thought the same thing. I simply think that Kristoph pulled a Tigre, who could ALSO as easily have gotten through his testimony perfectly clear if he hadn't bursted out what he was thinking at that moment.
