Spoiler:
The final revelation about Apollo and Trucy's mother hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't see that coming. It was only mentioned once by Valant that there was a chance she lives, but after that it was all but forgotten. Since it didn't come up in the case at all I sorta forgot about it up until the very end.

What was really cool about it I thought was when they were showing pictures of Thalassa I was saying to myself "she looks familiar for some reason.....huh..."
Characters in game always say that sorta thing for the stupidest reasons when its blatantly obvious someone resembles someone else, and it was almost like I was a part of the story when the game basically gave me an answer but I casually overlooked it. Just as many in-game characters seem to do sometimes...

When I realized that she looked just like Lamiroir, I just laughed. A twist, I wasn't observant enough to catch, but my subconsious did. T'was truly grand in my opinon. The word "epic" was running through my head.

Spoiler: ULTIMATE 4-4 SPOILER OHNOES
I was more interested in the fact that Apollo and Trucy are related yet no-one's bothered to tell them. It sets up AA5 nicely. There's also the fact that Phoenix is still in possession of the Magatama, which means at some point he'll need to return it to its owner. The groundwork is all there for a massive reunion party - how it's handled by the writers will decide how epic it all turns out to be. Of course, there's the possibility they'll never go back to the matters of the Fey family but the door's still open with the sneaky re-introduction of the psyche-locks in 4-4. Pearl and Maya cameoing in AA5 is looking very likely.

More to the point, wouldn't a psyche-lock/perceive combo be awesome in investigations? :D (That needs to be its own topic, actually.)

Off-topic: W00T GUMSHOE CAMEO IN 4-4'S FLASHBACK CASE!! :D

Does we even do these things anymore?

Spoiler: 4-4
I had been spoiled that Apollo and Trucy were siblings but... I forgot. :edgy: So when it was revealed I had this sort of "Oh yeah! I knew that!" moment. The Thalassa/Lamiroir moment was even cooler. I had no idea about her in 4-3; I figured her mysterious past would play a role in a later game. Then in the flashback case wee see the brief image of the Gramaryes that appears on the stamp later, and I thought to myself "Hmm... that woman looks familiar." Then when I got Thalassa's picture I thought again "Hmm... she looks familiar... I wonder why?" It wasn't until I actually examined the stamp and saw the same image I had seen before that I suddenly put it all together. "AAGH! Zvarri! It's Lamiroir!" I shouted out loud, much to the consternation of my family who were trying to watch TV or some such nonsense. Definitely an awesome moment.

When I made the connection between Thalassa and Lamiroir (talking to Valant 7 years in the past), I felt so smrt. :wellington: 33 + 7 years ago (Lamiroir was 40), familiar brown hair, got into an "accident" (though how getting shot in the face from BOTH sides ONLY blinded her, I don't know), and omg amnesia pretty much did it. I wonder if we'll find out in GS5 how Thalassa ended up in Borginia. :gipsy:

Also, I'm surprised that Phoenix didn't mention where he got the magatama. Black Psyche-Locks, though = win. Not even the magatama can match Kristoph's ownage.

Actually, I guessed it when we found out that Trucy's mother had a previous husband.

Spoiler:
I actually love Lamiroir, and, I actually caught on the moment I saw her picture (By her, I mean Thalassa) I mean, It's sort of obvious. Speaking of which, look at my sig for my Lamiroir-obsession sig...

But anyway, I spoiled myself in the Apollo/Trucy siblings thing, But I didn't read anything about their family, So the Lamiroir thing was quite a welcome surprise.

As soon as I saw what Thalassa looked like, I figured it out almost immediately.

Spoiler:
I made the connection as soon as I saw the picture, but then I thought, "Wait, but didn't Trucy's mom get shot in the face and die? It must be a coincidence, unless later on they reveal that she didn't actually die but in fact mysteriously disappeared." And lo and behold...

Yes I figured I would have been the minority on this issue. Its so obvious, yet it fooled me so completely, yet it was felt good being fooled, because it made the surprise that much more fun.
I also learned from this experience that I will never play the Japanese version of a GS before the english version again. Understanding most of the game just doesn't cut it, you only get true appreciation by understanding every single detail.

I also agree that things are set up so well for the next game. There are so many avenues they can take for interesting plot points.
The only bad thing I can figure is that just like in GS1, the big epic case is already over. Edgeworth's father's case was so interesting and encompassing that none of the other cases from 2 or 3 I felt compared to how signifigant they were to the characters as a whole.
Same goes with Phoenix's "last" trial from this game. Its going to be hard to top, I wonder if they can do it the second time around.

Quoted for truth. I finished the game, but the sheer epicness of it left me a bit disoriented, so I wonder what the fuck was Kristoph hiding so hard that not even the Magatama was a match for it. =p

Spoiler:
I really felt the black locks really solidified how unsettlig Kristoph was. So calm and collected, I shuddered a little when he appeared back in his cell while you were looking through his mail. It shows that someone can be so evil that not even the kurain style can break through it.

The Kurain style can't break through shit. It can only show what is there but is invisible to the naked eye.

Also, Phoenix still having the Magatama sets up another possibility - That he hands it over to Apollo.

Oh man, that entire thing seriously knocked me out of my computer chair when it clicked! :ack:
Spoiler:
I'd thought Lamiroir had something... familiar... about her appearance, but the fact that Apollo and Trucy both have that particular power had merely struck me as odd... until busting Zak's psyche lock and the sibling thing hit me in the face like a frickin' freight train!

And y'know, Phoenix HAD to have had friends still in high places in the legal system, if y'think about it. How else would a disbarred defense lawyer get put in charge of the first test case of a potential new legal system?

Definitely, in a single word, "EPIC!"
