We know that Phoenix is 176cm (unless he grew/shrank in 7 years), so if that picture is accurate, a bit of math could calculate the characters' respective heights. I don't have a lot of time right now, but I might get to it later if no one else does first.

I finally got around to calculating the characters' approximate heights. If the scale in that picture was correct:
EDIT: Re-measured Ema to accommodate her shoes. 11/3/08
EDIT: Corrected Ema's Imperial measurements, and calculated the height of Mr Hat. 15/3/08

That would make sense. But regardless of height, they do both look pretty young (Polly especially, Trucy looks more or less her age), and significantly younger than Ema herself. So the height difference isn't necessarily important.

If you look closely at the picture Chazooma linked to, there's a faint green line that indicates ground level. All the measurements I did were taken from that line.

Indeed. I'm around Polly's age (and, oddly enough, Ema's height) and even my friends have trouble remembering if I'm old enough to legally drink yet. Once I was mistaken for a 16 year old. O_o I don't think it has anything to do with how tall I am, just that I happen to look a little younger than my age.

Phoenix is wearing sandals, so it's a pretty decent representation of his height.
Ema, on the other hand, is wearing some beastly heels, so she'd be a lot shorter barefoot.

At least Trucy does. Apollo probably can't grow anymore 'cause he's like 22. Hopefully Trucy knows to eat things that have hormones so she can grow, otherwise Mr.Hat will be taller than her. But yes, I agree with kayoubi, there is plenty of room for the two to grow, the picture(thanks chazooma) made me sort of confused(in a confusing way). I don't blame Ema for her shortness, she's gone through rough time and stress I heard, stunts growth sometimes, also, maybe hormones weren't so popular back in the Phoenix Era.

Relatively speaking at least. 6'2" is actually a bit shorter than I'd expect for a maximum. Gant, for instance, I think is supposed to be a pretty big, imposing guy, and he's only 6'1". Hell, Mike Meekins is taller. (Only by one inch, though.) And the tallest character in the game (Terry Fawles) is 6'3". I've chalked it up to Japanese people just being shorter, but it still seems kinda funny to me.
(None of this is from personal experience, by the way. I think the tallest person in my immediate family is maybe 5'6", and I'm not even 5'1", so 6'1" is plenty imposing, believe me. Not that Gant really needs height to intimidate people, anyway.)

No,actually...even for an Asian guy, Polly is quite short.As an Asian ,I'm 164cm, and I'm a girl in average height. Plus, Polly is older than me. It is Nick who's average.

That sounds about right, actually... not sure if it ever came up in the game, but according to that picture and the backsprites, Trucy's a little above Apollo's shoulders and Machi's at the same point next to Lamiroir, and I think Machi and Trucy are pretty much the same size, aren't they? But Kristoph looks a little shorter in the backsprites than in the official art, so I dunno.

Ema: ~162cm (166cm with heels, 167cm with bun, 171cm with heels+bun; Heels: 4cm, Bun: 5cm)
And just for fun, I measured Apollo's forehead. It's 6.5cm tall (brow to hairline), and 14cm wide (hairline to hairline). It accounts for 4% of his height, and it takes up about 34% of his face.

I was just curious. When I look at his sprites his forehead looks normal, but in the game Klavier always called him 'Herr Forehead', and when he was 'translating' for Lamiroir in court he says something like "Although his forehead is extremely wide" when talking about Polly. The only thing that stuck out to me about him was his ears

That's a good point; the average guy is taller than the average girl.
Ooh, that reminds me: Polly's height could also be just a genetic fluke. My mum and dad are fairly tall (both around Klavier's height), as are most of my siblings, but my sister and I somehow ended up falling short in comparison (my younger brother, for instance, is a foot taller than me >_> ). So, it might not matter how tall his dad is if his height's the result of recessive genes.

Actually, 25 is the age when you stop growing...so maybe he can grow a another centimeter before the sixth game.
