I've been playing apollo Justice and found Phoenix to be very mellow now. I also noticed a change in his attitude towards Meekins.

Spoiler: 4-4 spoiler
At the end of your investigation with Meekins, Phoenix apologizes to Mike saying he didn't know how much he's gone through. I think Phoenix was sympathising with Mike, how when Mike just makes one simple mistake and he's treated like a bad person. Mike is proned to making mistakes in which he is grateful for Phoenix's act of kindness when he apologizes. I think this simple act of kindness showed the beggining of Phoenix's change in personality.

So what do you think sparked this change.

Simply put...

Spoiler: 4-4
Phoenix could sympathize with Meekins because that one mistake when he presented that false evidence. He didn't know it was fake, but everyone basically thought otherwise about him after that. His mellow adittude his basically his way of moving forward, without looking back. I think Mia would be proud of him, because he's still smiling no matter how bad it got.

Anyone notice
Spoiler: 4-4
Wright being pretty damn cocky against Klavier? I don't remember him being so full of himself in the past. True, he's an ACE ATTORNEY and he's been through the craziest cases - going up against a novice prosecutor - but his attitude was kinda different then I remember.

That bothered me a little too. I'm guessing the game designers put that in there to emphasize how shocking the whole thing turned out for Phoenix in the end, but his inner monologues reminded me way too much of pre 1-4 Edgeworth.

i actually totally felt this way myself, and i was surprised...i frowned a couple of times. then i thought maybe it was the production team's lame way of trying to make us feel less sorry for phoenix. it didn't work though.

He was being cocky because Klavier was renowned as a 'Genius Prosecutor'. And of course as Phoenix simply put it:

"There's one of those every year."

Spoiler: 4-4 spoiler
Plus Klavier was seventeen. If you were in your mid 20's and you had to go against a kid that wasn't even considered a legal adult in court I think you would be a bit cocky too xD;;; Klavier didn't look like the type back then to be taken seriously. Especially since this was Klavier's first case. Godot was obviously experienced with law, Manfred had a 40 year perfect record, Franziska was Manfred's perfect daughter, Edgeworth was also an experienced prosecutor and Payne has been in law for a long time...even though he does suck a little >3>;;

If anything young Klavier looks like the kind of person that you'd have to put in a lot of effort to take seriously. What with his goofy-looking smile, and all, coupled with the fact that he's wearing shades in court. Godot's visor was a different matter, naturally.

Considering how every prosecutor he went up against had a perfect win record that he'd shattered (Payne notwithstanding), I'd imagine that he'd let his guard down on someone with no experience, even if he was a "genius".

This one's by Elriel! Can't thank you enough!

Yeah, Phoenix let his guard down but don't forget Klavier didn't really do anything but present the evidence his big brother told him to present...some first win. At least Phoenix actually won his first case by himself...with a little advice.
