So I collected my copy of Spirit Tracks from EB Games this morning and have been playing it on and off for the last 3 hours and have noticed one thing which I'll post as a question.

Has anyone noticed how similar Spirit Tracks is to Ocarina of Time?

Think about it.

Spoiler: Spirit Tracks/Ocarina of Time
You play an instrument in it.
Game starts quite similar to each other.
The first temple is called the Forest Temple (Adult Link's temple is Forest as well.).
You have Lokolos's (or whatever they are called) instead of Kaepora Gaebora and Shiek and the list goes on.

What's people's opinion of it so far?

Is Ocarina of Time the only one you played other then ST? You can say that for the other Zelda games.

And it's LOKOMO, as in Locomotive. Also, this game is awesome and it is a serious step up from Phantom Hourglass.

No I've played them all; In fact I own them all. I was just commenting that this one is more direct than the others in similarities to Ocarina of time.

Lokomo, that's the term. Yeah, I agree this game is quite awesome and definitely a step up from Phantom Hourglass, although it is quite similar in storylines, it has it's own unique perspective.

This looks much better than the last two games we had.

I've heard a few songs from the OST and it sounds great! It has the classic Zelda feel in it but it sounds like something straight out of a Mana game at the same time. A great combination IMO.

This one for example.

You've got me excited now, but I have to wait until Christmas to get it. I bet it's brilliant.

It is a great game but already I have finished it. *sigh*, I hate it when games like this come along and they are really easy to finish. I suppose I'll just collect all the Heart containers and miscellaneous items now. That's what I like about AA though. It literally takes along time to finish one game, as many of you are obviously aware.

Um, lets see. I picked up the game at EB at roughly 9:10am and got home 10 mins later and turned my DS on around 10ish, so 10am.

My hype factor just went down a little... But I think I'll enjoy it anyway.

If it's too short I'll get another DS game (if I have any money left after buying Christmas presents for people, that is). :>

Hm? It's not short but it was short to me because I spent all of yesterday playing it. If you played a little each day it'll be long.

Well I'm stuck on this part...

Spoiler:
After you find the third Lokomo, his instructions make no sense whatsoever.

I tried the whistle at those statue things, but I can only find the last two...

And has anyone else noticed all of the references to Phantom Hourglass?

Spoiler: List, contains spoilers
-One of the dudes who was on Tetra's ship is telling the story in the beginning.
-Tetra is repeatedly referenced. She may even be this zelda's grandmother she was talking about.
-Phantoms. Duh.
-The guy who was working the ship parts is now a bridge fixer.
-Anoukis are back.
-At the castle I saw this lady who looks really similar to Jolene...
-Linebeck. THE THIRD.
-The Linebeck we all know from before has a gravestone that can be read.

There's definitely gonna be more.

To find the first statue, go to a small island with some towers of rock. The statue is on the top of one of those towers, just turn the camera to look up.

Spirit Tracks is a direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass you know? It follows up that Link, Tetra, Linebeck, the band of pirates and any other people who came along, went searching for new land.

If you have any problems, I just quickly googled this and found a comprehensive walkthrough.

http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda13-spirit-tracks-walkthrough.php

It doesn't seem to be finished but it should help.

Getting this now. I loved WW, could have liked PH if it wasn't for that cataclysmically bad idea; the dungeon you have to keep replaying. This sounds like it should be PH but without the shit bits.

And it is.

Spoiler:
You don't have to repeat levels in the Tower of Spirits. You just climb the stair case.

Very good to hear. Now my only concern is "Is the overworld just one big empty field with train tracks running through it, or is it a diverse and interesting overworld, as we've come to expect from Zelda games?"

It does sound like that doesn't it? I thought it would be as well however it actually resembles something Zeldaish. It isn't bland, boring or dull, it's actually cool and there is a twist to the train system as well.

It was kind of an impulse buy, but I've got it.
Seems good so far, the touch screen controls (especially the rolling) seem improved and Zelda is pretty good as a partner, especially as she isn't entirely useless.

Not too fond of the trains though, it doesn't help that(at least at this early stage of the game) the enemy trains are faster than you, so if one's on your tail you're unlikely to avoid a game over. Honestly though, I just wish they'd make a portable Zelda with full interconnectivity or a proper overworld, is that too much to ask?

Spoiler:
When you get the cannon, you can temporarily halt the Bomb Trains from chasing you.

Hm, I know what you mean. I was really pumped for Twilight Princess in 2003 when the first trailer came out then when it was released, I was shocked. Although it was great, it was missing a few elements to make it a really good Zelda game. Hopefully Nintendo will make Zelda Wii better.

Lucky. I'm stuck on the second boss. The fire and ice one (Can't remember it's name). I can get it down to it's last stage, and then I die OTL

I just got the game like a couple days ago, and I am enjoying it quite a bit. However, I'm kind of already finished with the Ocean Temple, and I feel like I'm getting close to the end, so I'm trying to put my time off on it for a moment, though there probably is more to explore in the game, I'm certain.

Yeah, there's still plenty to do after the ocean temple, believe me.
