Well hell, my other favorite fansite-based-on-a-cult-hit-video-game, Starmen.net, has done it with Chrono Trigger. I'm sure CR could manage. Tbh I really don't care as long as there's a good PL fansite out there. xD

Yay I started a sliding puzzles discussion/debate~ Well idk, I still like them, guess I just have a good knack for it

Oh! Has any of you all played through the third game? Just wondering...

They probably don't want CR to get TOO off-topic... I mean, WHAT A!? is for CiNG in general, really. Personally, I think Professor Layton's fanbase is way too big. Not to mention WHAT A!? is the only Hotel Dusk fansite in existence...

The game style of Professor Layton and Ace Attorney aren't even that related. We could have a Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Megaman fansite as well.

Wait, that's not such a bad idea...

It's a separate fansite, so being off-topic wouldn't be a problem. And WHAT A!? Isn't the only Dusk fansite. There's the Red Crown community.

Layton, AA and Dusk are all visual novels. And most AA fans are Layton and/or Dusk fans. Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Megaman have thousands of fansites, and are not visual novels. And having a Final Fantasy fan-forum would fill us with GameFAQ trolls.

And we all know that G-Faqs trolls are as bad as they come, lol. *knows from lots of experience*
I'm down with a Layton subforum, and I don't really know much about running forums, ( I mean I've been a mod on several sites but needless to say all of those sites were disasters) but seeing as we have a HD sub-forum I wouldn't think it'd be impossible. Maybe if we got enough support we could make a petition?

Well, if somebody's interested enough, you don't need a petition. Just ask an admin for their opinion, and if they want to know how many people would be interested, then they create a thread where people post in favor or against of the idea.

Wow! Magical things are happening in here. I think a Layton community made up of CR-type people would be exceptional. I fear I have it in me to become to Layton what crouton is to Edgeworth. He's such a gentleman! <3

While there's a sub-conversation going on about puzzles we hate, I'd just like to point out that "PU" (Diabolical Box #74) was the dumbest puzzle ever. I literally facepalmed when I realized what I was supposed to do.

The real problem with a PL sub-forum (I vote the name "Professor's Trunk") is bandwith. I mean, CR had bandwith probelms without a Layton subforum, I figure having one would be a problem...

Hey, Wooster. Hope you're alright :)

Anyway, I'm writing you this PM in representation of the Professor Layton fanbase in CR, or at least the one that post in the Layton series' topic. By the way, if I should have posted another admin, please let me know.

While discussing sliding puzzles, an idea came up: There are probably as many Layton fans as Dusk fans in CR, so why not a Layton subforum? After all, it relates to the Ace Attorney series, since it's a visual novel, but with puzzles.

We are aware that the largest problem here is probably bandwith, but we would like to know if it would at least be possible. I'm sure that if you or the administration team consider it, and asked the CR community if they are against the idea or in favor of it, most would be in favor.

Thanks for taking your time reading this :)

-DeMat (and many other Layton fans :P )

Yeah, that seems awfully soon, sadly.

It shocks me how bad Japan is at cam-rips. You'd think a dodgy torrent would be available by now. It's not that I don't intend to pay to see Eternal Diva when it's legally available for me. (Layton deserves my money!) I just want to see it NOW.

Even I want to watch ED, but look where I live. They'd never show it here. I think I might be lucky enough to find a pirated DVD copy somewhere, but I really want to see it now as well. And DeMatador, did Wooster already respond to that PM?

Not yet. I haven't seen him log in, either.

BTW, don't worry, it was just released less than a month ago. Give it some weeks or another month and you'll have it fan-subbed.

Watching popular WSJ shows has made me an impatient old hag. If I don't have fansubs in hand six hours after airing I become cranky. :)

The Eternal Diva wait will kill me less than the Time Travel wait, though. I know too much already, but not enough to satisfy me.

IMHO, AA and Dusk are purely visual novels whereas Layton is a game which, like many JRPGs, has a visual novel style of storytelling. And I was joking =P

But if it's already in the works, count me in.

How does this happen? Not trolling, just genuinely curious. Are you just rushing through to get the story?

I don't leave a puzzle until I've solved it, and I can't imagine running through town without tapping on every possible thing.

Okay, guys, I PM'ed Croik, and this was her response:

Croik wrote:
I appreciate the suggestion, but the truth is we have a Dusk forum not because it's necessarily similar to AA, but mostly because it fit our April Fools joke way back in the day! Plus CR the site actually hosts a Dusk site with it, so it made sense for us to give it a subforum rather than make a different forum entirely for it.

But Layton doesn't have any connections to CR on a "personal" level I guess you'd call it (other than the current banner). And I can't say I like the idea of approving subforums based on the idea that "it's kind of similar to AA." There are other games that are even more similar and we already get enough requests for new boards as it is. This is first and foremost an AA site and I don't believe that sections for games that aren't AA are really necessary.

But if you guys decide to make or find a Layton forum of your own, I'd happily affiliate.

Basically (tl;dr), she said that WHAT A!? is there initially because of a joke, and because of C-R's "WHAT A!?" affiliate site with Dusk info (which I just recalled now). Under this light, Layton doesn't make the cut for it's own subforum.

But, she encouraged us to create a forum of our own if you're willing to, saying she'd be happy to affiliate. Personally, I don't have the time, but if you guys want to, it can be done. I think it would be filled with users in no time, being Layton.

HI GUYS!
I just remembered that I'd seen this forum but never posted in it.Lol, so here I am!
I finished Professor Layton 2 the day before yesterday.

Spoiler: The Ending
The ending made me laugh because it was so random how Layton just worked out about the gas and stuff. And I absolutely loved Anton. Even after he turned into an old man..

But I do feel kind of ashamed..My younger sister finished Curious Village and Diabolical Box before I could get half way through the second one. (i'd already played the first one). However, she just left heaps of puzzles unsolved and only did what was necessary. I like to play games like this properly. Well, now I'm working on finishing Hotel Dusk before the end of the holidays while also fitting in a 4th playthrough of Ace Attorney. LOL.. that probably wont happen.

That's the best thing. No matter how ridiculous the plot twist, Layton just matter-of-factly explains it to everyone and expects them to take it in stride. You'd think he'd be a little more concerned about Luke breathing all that toxic gas. Didn't it make a lot of people sick?

The ending annyoed me, too unexpected, damn deus ex machina ><. At least some myster games/movies/books have some foreshadowing for the ending... (sometimes my favorite part of a mystery is when I figure it out myself.... other times it's when I think I've figured out the mystery, but then I get to the end of the book/movie/game and find out I was way off, and that the real truth was way cooler............. did all of that make sense?)

I've spoiled a bit for myself in PL3, but nothing you can't gain from watching the trailers repeatedly.
