They probably don't want CR to get TOO off-topic... I mean, WHAT A!? is for CiNG in general, really. Personally, I think Professor Layton's fanbase is way too big. Not to mention WHAT A!? is the only Hotel Dusk fansite in existence...
The game style of Professor Layton and Ace Attorney aren't even that related. We could have a Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Megaman fansite as well.

It's a separate fansite, so being off-topic wouldn't be a problem. And WHAT A!? Isn't the only Dusk fansite. There's the Red Crown community.
Layton, AA and Dusk are all visual novels. And most AA fans are Layton and/or Dusk fans. Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Megaman have thousands of fansites, and are not visual novels. And having a Final Fantasy fan-forum would fill us with GameFAQ trolls.

I'm down with a Layton subforum, and I don't really know much about running forums, ( I mean I've been a mod on several sites but needless to say all of those sites were disasters) but seeing as we have a HD sub-forum I wouldn't think it'd be impossible. Maybe if we got enough support we could make a petition?

While there's a sub-conversation going on about puzzles we hate, I'd just like to point out that "PU" (Diabolical Box #74) was the dumbest puzzle ever. I literally facepalmed when I realized what I was supposed to do.

Anyway, I'm writing you this PM in representation of the Professor Layton fanbase in CR, or at least the one that post in the Layton series' topic. By the way, if I should have posted another admin, please let me know.
While discussing sliding puzzles, an idea came up: There are probably as many Layton fans as Dusk fans in CR, so why not a Layton subforum? After all, it relates to the Ace Attorney series, since it's a visual novel, but with puzzles.
We are aware that the largest problem here is probably bandwith, but we would like to know if it would at least be possible. I'm sure that if you or the administration team consider it, and asked the CR community if they are against the idea or in favor of it, most would be in favor.

IMHO, AA and Dusk are purely visual novels whereas Layton is a game which, like many JRPGs, has a visual novel style of storytelling. And I was joking =P

I don't leave a puzzle until I've solved it, and I can't imagine running through town without tapping on every possible thing.

But Layton doesn't have any connections to CR on a "personal" level I guess you'd call it (other than the current banner). And I can't say I like the idea of approving subforums based on the idea that "it's kind of similar to AA." There are other games that are even more similar and we already get enough requests for new boards as it is. This is first and foremost an AA site and I don't believe that sections for games that aren't AA are really necessary.
But if you guys decide to make or find a Layton forum of your own, I'd happily affiliate.
Basically (tl;dr), she said that WHAT A!? is there initially because of a joke, and because of C-R's "WHAT A!?" affiliate site with Dusk info (which I just recalled now). Under this light, Layton doesn't make the cut for it's own subforum.
But, she encouraged us to create a forum of our own if you're willing to, saying she'd be happy to affiliate. Personally, I don't have the time, but if you guys want to, it can be done. I think it would be filled with users in no time, being Layton.

I just remembered that I'd seen this forum but never posted in it.Lol, so here I am!
I finished Professor Layton 2 the day before yesterday.
But I do feel kind of ashamed..My younger sister finished Curious Village and Diabolical Box before I could get half way through the second one. (i'd already played the first one). However, she just left heaps of puzzles unsolved and only did what was necessary. I like to play games like this properly. Well, now I'm working on finishing Hotel Dusk before the end of the holidays while also fitting in a 4th playthrough of Ace Attorney. LOL.. that probably wont happen.
