Oh, god. Did anyone else make the mistake of looking at the scans of this month's manga chapter? I only have about a Kindergartener's understanding of written Japanese, but holy shit.

Good news: 52 pages.
Bad news:
Spoiler:
everything else.

There's no way the series would end on that much of a downer. I don't expect a super happy ending, but there's got to be some sort of catch to this particular development.

Thank god for Brian Massey' s awesome performance as Isaac Mcdougal.

Do you suppose they let the old voice actors know that their characters will be going in significantly different directions? I don't know if the "Mad Bomber" voice is quite right for our calculating Kimblee, though I suppose it was okay for the context we saw him in. He'll have time to grow into it.

Whoops, how could I forget? Easily the best thirty seconds of the entire episode. But yeah, they probably didn't notify Kimblee's VA about the personality change, which I'm pretty disappointed in. Still, it'll be hilarious if we get to his release from jail and he's still using that gruff voice, especially during this scene:

Wait, it premiered last Sunday? Crap! I always miss the premieres of my favorite shows. :sadshoe:

I'm a diehard fan of the manga, but I got turned off to the first anime entirely when they went off on a tangent. I have the FMA DS game, which is pretty much the entire anime series condensed into a few hours. As things went on, they made less and less sense.

I'm excited about Brotherhood though. But the only way I can watch it is on TV, since my computer has lost its sound output capabilities. :chinami:

Just read the latest chapter.

Holy CRAP! I expected things to be close, but... MAN, Arakawa. What the hell is wrong with you? You wanna give me a heart attack or something? I mean, we have the 1st anime...

Spoiler:
where Ed just up and left Winry (but of course, that was BONES making stuff up),

And now in the manga...

Spoiler:
You're killing Winry off (along with 95% of the cast)? Dare I ask if she ever intended for Ed to be a teensy bit happy at the end.

You know... so long as she doesn't pull an EoE, perhaps I can accept it.

Well, people whined when that Aaron kid did Alphonse in the first anime... and now they're whining with Maxey in this new anime. I guess Al will be forever cursed (in that point, I mean). Personally, I like her... though she doesn't sound too much like... well... a boy.

Aaron was probably the only English cast member I liked better than the original Japanese one. I think because he was an actual, honest-to-god little boy when he did it. The authenticity just added to my desire to give Al a big ol' hug. I guess you could make the argument that Mignogna's a real honest-to-god man-child so I should prefer him as Edward, but he just doesn't do it for me.

I mean, I don't hate Maxey Whitehead.

It's just... Aaron was so awesome for me, it's hard not to get disappointed when I hear the difference between her voice and Aarons'.

Spoiler: Roy Mustang
Mustang can transmute by clapping his hands. I liked that being an Ed and Al exclusive (I dont count Izumi cuz you rarely see her do anything). Can someone say OP? And yes, but I feel like Ed will bring Al back. Hopefully </3

Spoiler:
Well if I recall correctly, only those who have experienced the gate can perform alchemy by clapping their hands. It'd make sense that Roy can now do the same thing as Ed and Al since he's now experienced the gate as well. Not like it came out of the blue or nothing.

On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

I'm so glad I found a place to discuss this. XD As for the different mediums: I haven't read much of the manga, but I have read the most recent, like, 6 or so chapters. I'll go through an archive binge eventually. I got about half way through the first anime before we suddenly stopped buying the DVDs, but I pretty much know what happens, and I've watched the mo...wait, what am I saying--there was no such thing. >.< Needless to say, I <3 Brotherhood.

Spoiler: Ch. 107, of course
I thought it was AWESOME that Roy could perform transmutation by clapping. And as dullahan1 said, it only makes sense.
Also, AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL. ;_; But really...it's going to be weird thinking of Ed without his automail. And he's going to have to train pretty hard to get his arm and/or leg back into shape--did you see the size difference between his two arms!? It's a wonder he managed to pull that thing out of his other arm in the first place. Also also, as I read somewhere else: An atheist just punched God in the face. XD

Man, I can't wait until the next chapter comes out. But it'll be sad to finally see it end...

And so, the series is over at last, but it was a GREAT ending. Very tastefully done, I think.

Spoiler: The Final Chapter
I like the sacrifice that Ed had to make: It seemed fair and reasonable, and it made sense. Having Roy get his eyesight back WAS a bit of a ripoff, but I think that a lot of fans may have been angry if he didn't get his sight back, so that was a good choice on Arakawa's part. The only thing I'm REALLY pissed at is that we never learned Scar's real name. Overall, though, I'm so happy it ended like this. :will:

So, what did you guys think of that?

I read the first 10 volumes of manga or so years ago... I should re-read them. I loved the first anime and I bought the first 13 episodes of Brotherhood on DVD as something to do over the summer. I've watched the first two episodes so far.

I don't mind Al's new voice. It can't be helped that Aaron Dismuke went through puberty and everything. XD

Haha, yeah. Now that I'm seeing more and more of the new English dub, Maxey Whitehead seems to be adjusting really well to her role. Sometimes, I even find her emotion to be a lot better than Aaron's.

Love manga and '09 anime
'03 anime is basically a bunch of fanfic writers crammed into one room with a typewriter.
