Seeing as how a lot of people are doing this I'm making an official topic.

And we're going to make some house rules to go along with the original.

OFFICIAL Given Rules:

1. If a pokemon Faints it dies.

2. Only 1 pokemon may be caught per route

3. No legendary pokemon.

Now as this is a very short list, We are all to suggest new rules to add.

((SUGGESTED RULES))

A Hero pokemon,

Pros: This pokemon doesn't need to be released if it faints.
Cons: Must ALWAYS be in party, Must ALWAYS be the first.

Revives,

Pros: You can revive a pokemon with a FOUND revive.
Cons: You can't revive the same one twice.

Must Release 1 pokemon you used to fight Gym Leader

Cons: Losing 8 pokemon altogether.

Just thought I'd clarify something that isn't explained in the opening post. In the Nuzlocke challenge, the only Pokémon you can catch are the first ones you encounter on each route/forest/cave. If you fail to catch the first Pokémon you see, you aren't allowed to catch any Pokémon from that route/forest/cave at all. This also applies to uncatchable Pokémon - for example, in Diamond and Pearl, it's likely that you'll run into some wild Pokémon on your way to Sandgem Town. However, since you don't have any Pokéballs at that point, you won't be able to catch the first Pokémon you see on that route, so you aren't able to catch any Pokémon from that route to use in your challenge.

I think I've heard of a no duplicates rule, but that may well be optional.

I'm planning on doing what I call a PETA run where the rules are:
1. First Pokémon on a route.
2. No dupes.
3. Faint = Death
4. No fainting wild Pokémon or you're a murderer.
5. No boxed Pokémon; more than a team at a time and it's slavery.
6. Get as many gift Pokémon as possible without breaking earlier rules.
7. Release 1 Pokémon after each gym.
8. HM slaves must be rightful team members.

We're going with the original rule set with minor house rules.
If we give any major variables in the rule set then we can't compare our results.

Opinions on 1-8

Rules 1 and Two contradict each-other.

3: a given rule.

4: your pokemon would not be able to level up, ergo it is impossible.

5: you need to have extras in the box, just in case a pokemon dies.

6: Not allowed, There's no trading with other IRL people in the challenge.

7: I think that is a good idea actually, Adding it to the suggestion list.

8: No.

Duplicates are generally said to not count on Nuzlocke runs. I'm a member of the forums, I know.

And it is not impossible, just very difficult. I've read a few runs involving only battling trainers. Amazing, but true. Pretty much I want to do something challenging for a laugh.

Actually, no, the two rules in the original comic are just:
1. First one each route.
2. Faint = Death.

So trading is allowed, as long as it's the first and only Pokémon you get in the area.

What is it about the term "house rules" that you don't get?

Albeit, I do appreciate having a Nuzlocke veteran.

If you agree with or want to add any house rules then say so, I want to get them all down BEFORE we start!

Lawl I'm doing Nuzlocke in Emerald and only four pokemon died so far. And I need to name this Sandshrew I got from the Mirage Tower. I'm nicknaming all pokemon from here on out after CR members. Who wants to be a male Sandshrew?
