Well, I just thought I would make a topic about this. I know some people don't give her a last name and just call her Iris, but if you had to, would it be Fey or Hawthorne?

For me, it's Fey. Because technically, she never became a Hawthorne. So THERE. Beat that. :karma:

I'm totally part of Team Iris Fey :hobolaugh:

Pearl, Mia and Maya are named after their mothers too, so Iris Fey is probably her name.

But for some reason, I think Iris Hawthorne fits more than Iris Fey...

I concur to what End Quote said. Her father was "Hawthorne" and the children inherit the names of their fathers (if they are married though)

Wow, I always wondered about this too...

I'm guessing that she was a Hawthorne as well, since that's what her father's name was. Then again, Morgan still kept her Fey last name it seems...

I associate the name "Fey" with channeling power.
Iris apparently doesn't have much skill in that area, so I prefer to think of her as a "Hawthorne."

There's that reason, and, as has been mentioned..."Iris Hawthorne" simply sounds better. :-P
The fact that she's Dahlia's twin also makes "Hawthorne" seem more sensible. If one twin takes her father's name, so should the other.

But, come to think of it, maybe it's better after all for her to just go by "Sister Iris" so as to match with Bikini, who raised her. She probably doesn't like to associate with either of her true family names. It's not like her mother's side or her father's side ever did her any good. =(

My theory is the twins' father took the name Fey when he married Morgan since the whole reason they wed in the first place was so he could be the husband to the leader of the powerful Fey clan. Then after Morgan lost her ghost-channelling battle or whatever to Misty, and DL-6 flushed the clan's reputation down the toilet, he took his original surname back to disassociate himself from the Feys and forced that name on Dahlia when he took her.

Iris was dumped in the mountains right after their father left Kurain, apparently to be forgotten entirely, so I don't see any reason why she would have ever been given the Hawthorne name.

tl;dr version: Fey, though neither is most correct.

Personally, I don't get why so many people seem to love the name 'Iris Hawthorne'. It sounds so...bleh.

The Judge calls her "Iris of Hazakura Temple", so I guess she doesn't really have a real name.

How is she called in the Japanese version, anyone?

I looked at her profile on the main CR site, and it says she doesn't have a last name in Japanese, either. :eh?:

Iris Fey sounds better than Hawthorne to me, this is just me but the word "Hawthorne" has this evil, cruel aura surrounding it. Although I don't know exactly Dahlia's step-sister who I have forgotten her name's personality. Maybe a caring sister but I'm not too sure. :yuusaku:

Technically it would be Hawthorne because kids take their dads names, but she'd probably use Fey.

She doesn't actually deserve to be a Fey though, she's a useless idiot and it would be an insult to Maya and Pearl XD

I just call her "Iris", even while referring to other characters with their full names.

I'd also go with Hawthorne because I think it sounds better in conjuntion with her first name than Fey.

I was always wondering what the term canon means around here... Care to enlighten me?

~ Just kidding. I think, she's a 'Hawthorne', well actually, I see profiles on Facebook: Iris Hawthorne, Iris Hawthorne, Iris Hawthorne. No Fey. Only Hawthorne. HAWTHORNE RULES!!!!!!

But is Iris the twin-sister from Dahlia or misunderstood I this?

They are twins, that's for sure. I don't think it was ever made clear if her parents were ever married or not, considering her father taking her with him I am guessing Hawthorne would be her real last name.

I personally prefer Iris Fey, cause her evil twin has the last name Hawthorne(which, btw, is an evil meaning) and Iris isn't evil... Also, Maya, Mia and Pearly all kept their mothers names, so that would make sense if Iris did too.

Iris of Hazakura Temple :keiko:
I think it's because she's a Nun. It's more formal than "Sister Iris", and is more respectful to a woman of faith than using her full name.

While the implied couple is quite disturbing, I must say that "Iris DeLite" does have a pretty nice ring to it... xD;;

Anyway, I thought of one more small point that makes me prefer "Iris Hawthorne" over "Iris Fey":
Iris and Dahlia have flower-theme names, and the name "Hawthorne" comes from a type of tree. So "Hawthorne" fits the theme better.

Of course, in Japanese, that theme doesn't exist... And, in Japanese, I actually think the Fey name for Iris has a much nicer sound to it. (Not that it changes my other reasons for liking "Hawthorne" better overall.)

Iris Hawthorne = Miyanagi Ayame
Iris Fey = Ayasato Ayame

(Alliteration, yay!)
