If anyone were to look at Adam, they would see him with an angry expresion in his face, as well as his fists clentched.

"HEY! If you want to pick on someone, pick on ME! Come on, I'm not afraid of you! I've dealt with worse bullies than you!!" he yelled in anger. He hated when someone picked on other people for no reason. He had dealt with that when he was very young. After dealing with it for a while, he finally snaped and did just one uppercut. With that one punch, he knocked out the bully who was twice his size. After that, nobody ever picked on him again.

He raised his fists, for his earlier outbursts were true. Should the bully return, he'd be ready.

Jay and Jeremy walked out of the clothes shop with their custom-ordered blue- and green-accented robes, respectively. The shopkeeper had to uncharm the money to make sure it wasn't counterfeit, but the robes cost enough anyway that the brothers could now handle the weight of the money unaided, along with the weight of the clothing.
"Ha, teachers' robes are pretty darn cool," Jeremy remarked as the brothers walked towards the next place; the magic equipment shop.
"Yeah, I like how they accented the robes in our favorite colors, too," Jay replied. They made it to the magic equipment shop and went in, strolling up to the counter.
"Ah, what can I do for you two?" the shopkeeper asked jovially.
"We need a couple wands, but..." Jay began, stopping to procure his staff, Jeremy doing the same, "we already have these."
"My, yes, you two must come from far away. Everyone uses wands here. Tell you what, I've got a deal on transmogrifying wands," the shopkeeper stated.
"Transmogri-what?" Jay asked, confused.
"Okay, so in the case that somebody needs a wand, but already has a different object they use to cast spells, we can enchant a wand and link it to the specific object," the shopkeeper explained.
"Sounds neat," Jay said.
"All the person has to do is will it to switch forms, and it'll oblige. Of course, since the wand and the object are different shapes, the wand must be free from grasp before it can transform," the shopkeeper continued.
"Great, so how much does that cost?" Jay asked. The shopkeeper told them and they paid promptly.
"Now, we'll need those staves of yours for a few minutes. We will also need to take a couple measurements and do some tests to find your perfect wand," the shopkeeper instructed as he stashed away the payment. He snapped his fingers and two workers came from another room. After the brothers handed the shopkeeper their staves and set their clothing bags on a nearby table, the workers began to measure the brothers with magically-extending measuring tape. The brothers stood as still as they could while the workers did their thing.

Viola paled and ran over to Chary instinctively.

"Are you hurt?!" she said calmly. "You're shaking, you should sit. Does your ankle hurt at all? It looks a little red." she glared at the troublemakers. "You could have hurt her, you fools." she reprimanded severely. Not for nothing was Viola a prefect, and she'd practiced that tone over the summer (not that she'd admit it). This was exactly the sort of thing she'd put a stop to at Chimera.

Chary wasn't sure how to react to Viola. Nobody had ever really seemed so concerned for her before.

"I'm fine," she said. "It's not really the worst thing that could happen." She did take a seat, though. "The ankle does hurt, a little, but..."

And that's when she heard Adam's comments and face-palmed. Stupid idiot! If these boys know any magic at all, you just gave them an invitation to use it, you moron! She leaped out of her seat, which wasn't the smartest idea in the world in retrospect, and ran toward Adam. Sure, it hurt her ankle more to do that, but she didn't really care. It was a minor wound, anyway. Might as well walk it off.

"I appreciate your...erm...enthusiasm, but that isn't really the best approach, is it? I mean, if they know how to control their magic, then...Oh, Dumbledore's beard!" She realized she forgot most of the books, and whipped back around. "Just don't engage people in fights, please." She walked back toward Viola, only to see Cecil further back, picking up the books from the fallen bookshelf.

"Ummm...Excuse me!" she called toward him. "You shouldn't worry about picking that up! Someone else should do that! Uhhh...EXCUSE ME!!!" The lady in the front of the shop flicked her wand lazily and the shelf set itself upright, the books flying back onto it in alphabetical order. "...Thanks." Letting loose a sigh, Chary finally made it back where she was before and picked up the rest of the books. Finally, she added to Viola, "Sorry about that. Anyway, as you can see, I am perfectly capable of moving. You may worry about something else now."

Viola looked put out, but rummaged in her bag and produced a small jar. I don't care if she doesn't want my help. People are too prideful these days, they'll never admit to injury...

"This will help. Put some on your ankle and the pain will lessen. When you walk don't put too much pressure on it. It's minor for now but you could make it worse if you aren't careful." she instructed quietly. "I know what I'm doing - you'd best heed my advice." Having exhausted her patience with Chary, she returned to Cecil. "Now the books are in their rightful places..." she skimmed over a few titles and then removed one. "This might be good for you... and that one..."

Adam eased his fists when he heard Chary.

"........ Alright," he simply said. However, his voice sounded different. It sounded more mature, and didn't sound as happy and child-like as before.

"Oh, here...." Adam said as he handed Chary the bag of money. "Well, now that we've our books, we should probably go buy our potions suplies as well as our cauldrons."

"Well, well," the shopkeeper remarked as he came back into the room, "Your measurements only produced two matches, one for each of ya. You guys are unique." The brothers had been waiting patiently after the workers finished measuring every nook and cranny and had reported the measurements to the shopkeeper. He procured two wands from who-knows-where and laid them on the counter.
"Now comes the fun part," the shopkeeper said, "See if you can guess which one is which."
"Hm..." Jay hummed thoughtfully as he walked up to the counter, "I think I'll try... this one." He picked up the wand on the left and held it up, focusing his energy into it. A green light started emanating from the wand, getting brighter and brighter. Suddenly, the wand flew out of Jay's hand up into the air. Jeremy ran towards where it was going and jumped up, snatching it right out of the air.
"Ha-ha, I think this is my wand," Jeremy stated with an amused smile.
"Well then, the other one must be mine, right?" Jay asked, looking down at the counter to see... two wands? "Oh, you have to be kidding me."
"Indeed I am!" the shopkeeper exclaimed, waving his hand over the worthless wand and making it disappear. "Seriously, you guys are the best! Let me take your wands and link 'em to your staves now." Jeremy obliged, walked up to the counter, and handed the wand to the shopkeeper. Jay simply picked up the remaining wand and handed it to the shopkeeper as well. The shopkeeper took the wands over to the table where the staves lay and placed each one next to its correct partner. The shopkeeper then recited a special incantation and one of the staves glowed bright blue. When the light subsided, the wand was nowhere to be seen. The shopkeeper then picked up the staff and threw it towards Jay, who caught it perfectly. The shopkeeper then did the same thing to the other staff-wand pair, throwing the recently-enchanted staff at Jeremy. Jeremy caught it just as well as Jay did. The shopkeeper walked back to his place behind the counter.
"You two enjoy yourselves now!" the shopkeeper declared. The brothers bowed and began walking towards the door.
"It's been a pleasure!" the brothers said simultaneously, letting out a chuckle afterwards when they realized that they had spoken at the same time. The brothers now had robes and wands, but what next?
"Ah, the bookstore," Jay said finally, "Let's go take a look."
"I don't see any rainbows around here..." Jeremy replied with a laugh. The brothers made their way across the street to where the bookstore stood. They walked in and began scanning the numerous shelves of books from a position where they could see just about all of them at once.

"Thanks," Chary muttered, accepting the cream. She didn't particularly want it, but there was no point in arguing. Before she could even think about applying it, Adam gave her that huge bag of money, which almost resulted in her dropping the cream. She pocketed it quickly, then walked to the front of the store and bought the books, which she gave Adam to carry afterward.

"Yes, we need our supplies," she said, now smiling. She couldn't help it: potions were one thing she knew very well. "Let's go!" As she started to leave the store, she stopped as Jay and Jeremy walked in. "Wow, speak of the devil. Those two are on the staff of Chimera School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." At least, that's what I assume, considering they're old. Well, not old, just...older than we are. By quite a bit. Why else would they be here? She looked at the pair for a couple more moments, then left the book store, checking to see if Adam was following.

"Alright," Adam said as he followed Chary. He held the bag with his robes with his left hand, while he held the books under his right arm.

"Really? Do you know what they teach?" Adam asked Chary when she told him about the pair of men that just entered were teachers at the school.

Adam kept walking behind Chary. He wasn't smiling anymore. He just walked at a normal pace as he followed Chary to the Potions shop.

As the brothers continued to scan the shop, they heard someone talking about them nearby. They looked towards where the voice was coming from to see Chary and Adam standing near the entrance. They barely got in a smile and a wave before Chary walked out the door. After Adam asked Chary what the brothers were teaching, the brothers had a thought. They didn't actually know what subjects they were going to instruct.
"You know, that guy raised an excellent question: what DO we teach?" Jeremy asked softly so only he and Jay could hear. The brothers began walking towards one of the shelves that looked interesting.
"That's a good point. We still need to decide," Jay replied at the same volume, "For now though, let us continue to look for books that will be most helpful for getting used to the way magic works in this world."
"Right, the 'basics'," Jeremy agreed, "But since we know what magic is and what it can do, we can probably settle for a mere 'refresher' type of manual."
"Let's also look for books dealing with our specialties," Jay suggested, "So we can get a better idea of what we are capable of teaching."
"Good idea. Onward, then!" Jeremy declared finally. The brothers began walking around searching for the books they were after.

Chary's brows furrowed.
"I don't think even they know what they're teaching," she said softly. It was odd even for Chimera School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to have new teachers who didn't know their area of expertise. Then again, she supposed it was possible.
"I'll need a few ingredients that aren't on this list," she added, more to herself than to Adam, as she entered the potions shop and started looking around.

Adam followed Chary into the potions shop.

When he was outside, he was being a little serious and a bit brave. Now, he was creeped out and grossed out by what he saw.

Chopped........ things. Strange plants, slimy thing in jars, and starnge liquids everywhere.

"Uh............. What are we gonna get again...?" he asked Chary with a shaky voice.

"Well, we'd need a beginner's potion kit for both of us...and I'm going to need a few other things," Chary said. "If being in here makes you queasy, you could leave and I'll do the shopping in here." She was very casual about this, and was even a little at peace in this shop. If there was anything Chary knew, it was potions and the ingredients that made them.

"Erm..."

Adam hesitated. He bit his lip and lowered his gaze as he tried to decide. Should he go in there, showing some courage? Or should he stay here and chicken out?

Seeying as he wanted to be in that house, the answer seemed ovious to him.

"I'll go. If I'm going to be in that house, I need to show some spine."

"That house"? ...Oh, right. He did talk to that one girl about how he wanted to be in Hippogriff for some reason. Something about his brother or something. Right.
"Okay, fine," Chary said. "But just so you know, you can leave if it gets to be too much. Or I could blind-fold you. And what do you mean by 'go'? You're already in here." She chuckled in a way that was barely audible. That certainly would make things simpler...for her, at least. She smiled slightly, picking out a couple of potion kits before searching for the other things she needed.

Adam stood there and blinked. He lowered his gaze, feeling like an idiot for the millionth time in his life.

"Right..."

He walked around the shop, his left hand holding tight to the bag with his robes and his right arms clutching his books tightly. Everything he saw resembled something a muggle would see in a horror movie. Most of them were things that wanted to make him vomit. Chopped body parts, slimy things, and strange-looking things that seemed to be alive.

As he walked, he eyed everything he saw, trying not to be afarid of it. After a few minutes, he wasn't as afraid as before. Actually, most things just grossed him out slightly, but didn't scare him. He got a bit bored while he waited for Chary to buy their supplies. Eventually, he decided to wait for her by doing something stupid.

Have a staring contest with a jar of eyeballs.

As Chary walked around, picking up the supplies, she relaxed more and more. This was her domain, and she felt like she was a master of it. With each new ingredient she crossed, she thought of their uses in potions, and the thoughts made her smile. The sky was the limit on what potions she could brew. It didn't take her long to pick up all but one last thing she needed. "Let's see...and for the last ingredient...ah, here!" Chary said, picking up the jar of eyeballs Adam was staring at with a smile on her face. "Thanks for finding these for me." She didn't care that he looked like an absolute dork, trying to stare the unblinking eyeballs down. She just cared that her shopping was finally finished, and she went up and paid for the supplies, the smile not leaving her face as she found Adam again.
"Alright, I got them. Where to next?"

"Well, we've got our school robes, our books, and our potions supplies, right?" Adam said as he looked through the supplies they had so far. He thought for a momment.

"... Ehh... Well, still need parchment, ink bottles, and quils, I think. Oh, and our wands. Do we need anything else besides that?"

"Not that I can think of," Chary answered. "I think we should get our quills, ink, and parchment first. Let's see...I believe the place to get them is this way." She walked in whatever direction the shop for that stuff was.

"Right," Adam said as he nodded and followed Charry.

As he walked, he kept looking at the different products and magical items on the different shops. For some reason, he wasn't as excited as he was earlier, when he first saw them. He figured he was already acustomed to wizarding culture and things of the sort.

Cecil looked at the books Viola indicated and smiled slightly.
"Those certainly do look interesting," he said. Too bad I don't have the money for them. His smile fell at the thought. Still, there was nothing wrong with reading through the books in the store, was there? He picked up one of the indicated books and started skimming through it. Maybe he should read more of these books some other time. His parents might start worrying if he didn't get home soon. He shook his head and shelved the book, turning back to Viola. "I will be sure to read through all of these later, but I think I should head back home." He looked very reluctant to leave.

~*~

As Chary walked, her limp became more pronounced. I'll apply that cream stuff once we're inside. It'd be utterly foolish to outright stop in the middle of this place. She quickened her pace and practically threw herself in the shop before briskly walking to the corner, hoping no one would notice her limping.

Isabella Bower was walking through Diagon Alley with her mom and dad. They had been here for a little while, buying things and looking around. Isabella was very excited about everything. She was smiling and looking at the window of every shop.
"What's next on the list mom?" She asked her mom.
"Well we have almost everything checked off. The last things you need are some potion ingredients and a wand." Her mom answered.
"It's a good thing my friend's parents turned out to be wizards so they could lend us some of those weird gold coins!" Isabella said as she happily walked into the potion shop. Then she stopped and looked around. Her eyes widdened and she looked like she would be sick. "This stuff is gross!" She said.
"Let's just quickly buy your things and leave." Her mom said, she also looked sick.
"Yeah." She said. Her dad nodded.

Adam marched into the store shortly after Chary did. He was walking behind her before entering, and noticed her walking was a bit off.

Nothing to worry about, she'll be fine, she's got some medicine that girl from earlier gave her, he told himself. Still, he couldn't help but worry a bit. A fault of his, seeing someone, anyone, in pain or trouble and having the sudden urge to help them, whether he knew them or not. He didn't want to say anything, like ask if she was alright, because he got the feeling she'd get angry or something. Was he being stupid? Knowing him, most likely.

As he entered the store, his thoughts changed. Now, he wasn't a big fan of writing essays or doing any sort of work or homework that forced him to write a lot. But after one look at the shop, he couldn't wait to do his first assignment.

So many different quills, all the strange inks, all the types of parchment. A large majority of them magical, all capable of doing different things. He knew he just came here for basic writing quills, standard black ink, and basic parchment, but he wanted to buy everything he saw. Plus, he had the gold to buy it.

Without consulting Chary first, or thinking for that matter, he walked around the shop, grabbing any form of parchment, ink, and quills that interested him.

Once in a secluded corner in the shop, Chary applied the ointment. She had to give that one chick (she didn't take the time to know or remember her name) props, as she felt the pain fade instantly. It didn't go away completely, but she could go back to walking fairly normally. When I get home, I'll have to heal this the long way...the way muggles do it. The thought depressed her. Well, I should find that one guy and get the rest of our supplies. She walked over to Adam, then noticed how he'd grabbed very unusual parchment, quills, and ink. Her eyes narrowed.

"What are you doing?" she asked. "Those aren't standard." She grabbed the "proper" parchment, quills, and ink. "These are. With what you've got, you'll call a lot of attention to your papers. Unless that's what you're going for." She wrinkled her nose. It was only worth making your papers stand out if you were a total brainiac, and, no offense to Adam intended, he didn't strike her as one of those. "Do you even have enough money to afford all that?"

~*~

In the potions shop, the lady behind the counter peeked over her book at the newcomers. Since Chary seemed to know exactly what supplies to get, she had kept reading. However, these people looked quite clueless.

"Hello. How may I help you?" the witch asked. Muggle-borns...peh. She didn't have much problem with them, except that they generally had no idea what they were doing. At least, for their first year.

The grin Adam had on his face faded a bit when Chary scolded him.

"Aw, c'mon! These things are cool! All the things I could do with these... maybe pull off a prank or two, if I try!!" he exclaimed. When Chary handed him the "proper" parchment, quills and ink. With a sigh, he put them in the back with the rest of the things he took. Where he got the bag, it is unknown. Let's just pretend there are some near the door of the shop.

"Alright, alright. There, the proper supplies. But I'm still taking the rest with me. Because, yeah, I can pay for it. My parents are wizards, but they choose to live among the muggles, so they don't really use the nice load of gold they have saved up."

He stopped and thought for a moment. "Hum... hey, since I've pretty much have money to spare, do ya want some?"

"Well we aren't quite sure what to buy. It's kinda hard to tell what's what." Isabella's mom said to the lady behind the counter. Isabella was standing by the door, trying to not look at anything. She still looked like she was sick. She just looked at her shoes and hoped her mom would be able tofind everything.

Chary stiffened automatically when Adam mentioned he could pull some "pranks" with the parchment and ink. Usually, when there was a prank to be gotten, it was Chary who was the victim, back when she went to muggle schools. Even though she hadn't gone to school since she was in first grade, she remembered every little thing those wretched little children did. She snapped out of her reverie when Adam asked if she wanted some other kinds of parchment or ink, since he had the money to spare. She shook her head.

"No, thank you," she said, her tone harsher and more clipped than she intended. She cleared her throat and attempted to smile sweetly. "I mean, I only need the basic supplies. I'm not about to make you spend more money on me than you already will."

~*~

"Ah, yes. It is quite confusing to people who don't make potions on a regular basis," the lady said. She pointed her wand and the basic potion kit for first years floated toward her, assembling on its way to the counter. "Careful~" She made sure nothing was going to spill or crash into anyone, but she wanted to be sure the family was aware of what was going on around them.

"Thank you. It's a little confusing for us, we just found out about magic and everything. So how much is that?" Her mom said. Isabella looked over to her mom and saw that she had some things on the counter. She assumed her mom was almost done so she walked over to her.

"You just found out, huh? It must've been a pretty big shock to learn that magic is real," the lady behind the counter said, smiling a toothy smile. "That'll be 10 sickles. You have converted your money to our currency, right?" She didn't mean to rude, but maybe a little condescension sneaked into her tone.

"Yeah it was really surprising to know that magic and wizards and everything was actually real. And yes we've converted money to your currency. Sickles are the gold ones right?" Isabella's mom said.
"Actually I think they're the silver ones." Isabella's dad said.
"Excuse me? I have a question. If magic is real, then are unicorns real too?" Isabella asked, looking excited.
