Can we take it as a confirmation that it is coming to a Nintendo platform?
The article runs down the history of the series, talks a bit about the iOS announcement, movie, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney info and screenshots etc…
Though the article said that AA5 platform is undecided at the moment.

IIRC that is her real lip colour in official pics. Yea some of the colouration of official pics are a bit odd. O____o
Hmmm I am kinda hoping that GS5 is going to be on a 3DS or at least a DS (even though I don't have the former yet). PSP/PS Vita maybe. Not too keen if it's on an iProduct though. inb4 anti-apple accusations. Nah I don't oppose Apple. Just personal preference.
Ahhh if they release a special edition 3DS bundle (like they did with the DS with GK in Japan), I'd readily part with my money....and kidney. Maybe half a liver.

If they don't take advantage of the new hardware, their better off releasing it as DS software.

If they are able to use stuff from PLvAA, they might do that for GS5. It's not necessary for traditional AA gameplay, of course, but I would be surprised if they didn't move forward with technology (they took advantage of the DS touchscreen in DS releases, for example).
And no, they are not better off making GS5 on the DS. I am only aware of one DS release coming soon without doing any research: Pokemon Black and White 2. You don't really hear of any other new DS releases because their names aren't big enough, and the 3DS exists. That doesn't make marketing easy.

I can see them using the 3DS's graphics and analog pad for analyzing evidence.

I hope so too for two reasons:
- I only own a DS and a 3DS, no Vita. I have nothing against Sony, but most titles on the Vita don't interest me so far. Plus it's more expensive.
- Why move to a different platform? All AA titles have had initial releases on Nintendo handhelds so far.

Not necessarily, Capcom doesn't advertise Ace Attorney games.
At least, here in Canada.
