That's pretty much what it boils down to. Hagi said the new assistant's name at one point but got bleeped out, haha.

There wasn't much new, I don't think, except some concept art.

Oh, and Phoenix's "Igiari!" sounded different from the GS1-4 one, I think.

From what I've heard, the new game takes place 8 years after T&T. I think they're trying not to say that AJ happened. ;_;

Nah, what they were saying is that it's been 8 years since Phoenix was standing in court in 3. Hagi asked, "well, what about 4?" and they pointed out Phoenix wasn't in court in that one (which Hagi apparently didn't know).

From what we could see of the blurred footage, they have some sort of animated door opening seen when they enter the courtroom. Apart from that, the artwork and some music snippets seemed to be most of what we got.

I do think the Objection we heard was different from Phoenix's original one, though. If it was, does that mean anything? Would it be too much to hope for voice clips in dialogue of some sort, since the crossover game introduced that for Phoenix? He has an official voice actor of some sort now, after all.

TGS will tell, I suppose.

I did record the GS5 segment in its entirety, if people are interested. It should be up here in about 15 minutes.

Yeah, I'd expect they plan on revamping the vocals to keep it fresh...so it makes sense.
Plus the western VA won't be the same if they do - Ben Judd is obviously out of the question to reprise the role, and something tells me te guy in UMVC3 isn't gonna be the same guy VA'ing the clips here. But yeah, we'll have to see what actually happens - I'm likely wrong on that last point.

I will miss Takumi's voice... *sigh* The new Nick voice sounds like the German one, way too harsh. Ahahaha.

They messed the timeline up even worse than AJ did. AJ took about a year. If this is one year later, this should be NINE years after he was disbarred, not EIGHT. Ahahahaha, in Japanifornia timeline figures out YOU. >_> OK, that one was bad, I apologize.

I did an artwork comparision. New Girl is about half a head taller than Apollo, which is hilarious, if you think about it. Also, she wears white boots, not unlike Trucy's and young Thalassa's, but a bit more "stylish".

Not necessarily.

AJ case 1 takes place on April 20 2026.
AJ case 4 takes place in October 9 in the same year, 2026.

The last case of T&T is seven years before that in February 9 of 2019.
Phoenix is disbarred in April 29 2019.

Assuming Phoenix returns in April 29 2027, it's still technically 8 years since his disbarment and one year after AJ took off. :pft:

Thanks for uploading that, Bolt Storm!

I didn't understand anything that was said, but I really enjoyed the concept art and the blurred gameplay parts. At least we know we have the traditional logo at the beginning. Now I really can't wait for TGS.

Hey, I do think Phoenix's voice sounds differently than the original, but the other thing to keep in mind is that in the development stage that game is in right now they probably haven't recorded the official sounds yet. So they might get Takumi into the studio to do the voice when the time comes. That's probably just a temp voice there now.

I kinda doubt that. There's clear signs that they want to make Phoenix' presentation in GS5 to be as recognizable in comparision to his PL VS AA presentation as possible, probably for the sake of newer fans coming in from the Layton Fandom. That's why the 3D style looks very simmilar to the one used in PL VS AA. That however also means that the "OBJECTION/HOLD IT/TAKE THAT" voice clips need to be the same. Thing is, Nick is voiced by Narimiya in PL VS AA. I am rather sure they'll keep using Narimiya's "OBJECTION!" after that, including for GS5, in order to not alienate the newcomers who met Nick with this voice. :yuusaku:

Oh you're right. That makes sense. To be honest, too, I like the sound of the Film/PLvsAA voice better than Takumi's. It's a little deeper.

I wonder what the US will do? I know Ben Judd won't be coming back, but that doesn't mean they still can't use the previous objection recordings. Especially since fans seem to taken with Phoenix's voice.

As long as they don't use the Marvel vs Capcom voice I'm ok.

There's probably going to be an English dub of the movie, isn't there? Maybe the same people will voice the movie, PLvsAA, and GS5 here?

I don't think they're dubbing the movie. They've already shown it in the West and they've just done it with subtitles. If it's not going to be dubbed in theaters I doubt they'll dub it just for home video. Still, they've got to cast someone for PLvsAA, so they should have someone new to do the objections if they want to change them.

I actually prefer subtitles to dubbing so I'm alright with this.

I really hope, though, that they can find a way to use the Ben Judd recordings and get a similar sounding voice to do the new stuff/PLvsAA voice overs.

I wouldn't be so sure they won't dub the movie after all. It's a Takashi Miike Film. Those have gotten dubbed before. The DVD might be taking longer than it did for Japan because they are actually dubbing it.

That makes sense. You'd think there would be an announcement though.

[Off-Topic movie talk, I wonder what the Americanized title would be? I really dislike "Ace Attorney" alone, but the american Phoenix Wright logo might look weird on the cover. Of course they couldn't name it "Turnabout Trial" because it wouldn't get any recognition. (Although for my money the best title for a PW movie/tv show would be just "Turnabout").Either way, I want to see this movie!]

They're almost certainly going to stick with the existing voices for the English version. People tend to dislike change.

I don't see how that would work. First, I haven't heard anything about the movie getting dubbed. (Granted, anything we have learned about the movie had been reactionary). Second, even if they were to dub it, Ben Judd (Phoenix) doesn't work for Capcom anymore. And even if he did, he's not an actor to the best of my knowledge. He couldn't do it. Saying 3 lines isn't the same at all as a whole movie.

Oh I meant for GS5 keep the Ben Judd recordings (Objection!, Hold it!, Take That!) and just get a similar sounding guy to do the new gimmick line.

As for the movie, I wouldn't really care who does it as I would watch the subtitled version. I also doubt they'd use the same guy for both here (as whoever it is probably isn't a star).

Basically what I'm saying is:

I don't care who dubs him in the film.
For PLvsAA they'll probably use the actor doing the dialogue
But for GS5 I'd like them to use the existing recordings and get a new, similar sounding guy to do the new line/couple of new lines.

I see this as highly unlikely. They are going to have to use a real voice actor for PLvsAA, mostly because of the animated cut scenes. So why would they then go back to using the old Judd voice for AA5? It's like buying a 3DS, and then a month later buying a Game Boy Advance. (I suck at analogies.)

I'm sure they'll use the same voice actors for PLvsAA for GS5. (I'm used to the Original voices from DS though)
Going with your analogy, That makes sense. It's just confusing to the player for Phoenix to have 2 different voices.
Sort of like how Sonic the Hedgehog constantly changes voice actors for all the characters.

I think it'll be the Marvel vs Capcom voice actor, and they'll just stick with him.

I don't really see it like that. PLvsAA is a lot like the film. If Phoenix sounds, acts, or behaves in a way different than the main series, its alright.

But GS5 is part of the main series, and stylistically has more duties to the other GS games than the movie and crossover game. Getting a new objection won't bother anyone in PLvsAA, but going from 4 with Judd to 5 with a new guy might be jarring. There's really no reason to re-record it unless there is a specific reason we don't know.

It's would be more a creative choice than a technology one, so it's less like buying a 3DS and buying a gameboy and more like buying a blue 3ds and then later buying a red one.

Now that also means it's not that important, and it's not like a new Phoenix objection would make me angry. I would just prefer them to keep the old samples and only record the new line just because the series has always been constant voice-wise.

I mean, Edgeworth uses multiple actors and it doesn't bother me too much. (I don't care if it was uncredited, there is no way that Edgeworth's "Objection" voice is the same one as the other, later phrases.

While all this deliberate cross promotion voice acting stuff sure seems to be the case in JP (Movie<>.PL vs PW<>GS5) I don't think it's as likely here.

a) no movie except as a few SUBBED niche releases
b) Level 5 not Capcom localising PL vs PW, and that dub is NOT THE FAMOUS ACTORS here
c) Capcom it's cheaper and easier to use the old voice clips, why bother? They might not even be allowed to use the PL vs PW dubbed voices, who knows what the license deal is in the West. It depends on that as well.

I hope they use the old ones and just record the new one by someone who sounds similar, as was said.
