No, I just don't like being in the group of Old Spice users who automatically think they're gonna get laid if they use it.

Haha I never heard anyone think that Old Spice will get you laid. I think your mistaking it with the Axe Body Spray commercials.

Reminds me of a scene from an early episode of the big bang theory where Howard says that Axe Body spray does not help you get laid, no matter how much you use of it.

I use... I think it's C&D deodorant. It's not the type of deodorant spray. More like a ... short spray burst of deodorant. I dunno, I kinda forget what my cosmetician training said about various differences in deodorants, but I'm happy with this. I think the current one is lemon scented. We're also trying out a red one... I forget what smell that is.

Seeing that picture of Woody makes me sad XP it's like Sid got a hold of him.

Though I wanna throw out a big thanks to whoever on CR directed me to the Bravely Default Live concert, since it's pure magic.

The ill have to give props to Sid for liking anime enough to do that to woody haha

on another note I'm finishing up the first class trial in chapter 1 of Danganronpa and what I came to love was the fact that towards the end you must put together all the events that lead to murder by form of arranging it in manga style format.

I think she was actually upset because she hates the idea of dying messages, how they're used so often in fiction. In fact, I'm pretty sure that every single game in the Ace Attorney series has at least one case where a dying message was used.

1-2, 1-5 and 2-1 are the ones I can think of that involve dying messages in some way. Always fake, never pointing at the right person, anyway. Hate dying messages. Maybe I forgot one, but those are the ones I can think of, off the top of my head.

3-5 has a fake dying message. There's also a real dying message in 4-3, though said message was never left with the intent to identify the killer. There's also the first case in Ace Attorney Investigations.

Spoiler: 5-1
There's also a real dying message in 5-1, though the killer uses it to create a fake "losing consciousness message" a bit later.

Having never played a Final Fantasy game before, I decided to buy FF7 off the PS Store. What should I expect? Is it as good as everyone says? After playing for a bit less than an hour, I feel like it's already safe to say I will enjoy it.

In all honesty, Stepladder, I got bored around the time I reached Nibelheim and haven't picked up the game since. I didn't personally get much out of the gameplay, and the plot didn't interest me enough for me to press on despite the fact.

Personally I'm not an RPG Kinda gamer, but I suggest you don't listen to the hype of 'how great FF7 is and it's the greatest game in creation' Just enjoy the game and experience. If you don't enjoy it, that's fine.

Ah, I knew I forgot some. I only played the entire AJ game once, otherwise I only replayed 4-1. I haven't played 5-1 and GK1-1 has slipped my mind.

It was.... a catastrophy for me. The translation was incredibly bad, but I had the German version and that had a shit translation of mistranslating Materia (Drain became Rohr, ie pipe-drain, and not Absaugen, meaning TO drain something), having German text repeated when the sentence was half finished, having English suddenly next to the German text and even finding a bout of Japanese untranslated text.
Whacky Fun.

But aside from that... I don't know, I felt incredibly bored while playing the game. Nothing in it made me think, "Okay, I can see why this game was so great in '97 and that was really new back then". Nothing in that game seemed all that new, none of the plot twists (THAT OBVIOUS THING WAS SO OBVIOUSLY GONNA HAPPEN, WHY DO PEOPLE SAY IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE?), none of the characters or villains seemed all that new... and couldn't they AT LEAST add fucking ANALOG moving for the PSN version?

If you enjoy it, Great.
Just... don't expect to be wowed and thinking it's the best game ever.
It never was.

It's pretty fun, a lot of the individual set pieces for story are really fun, some minigames are deep and rewarding and the optional stuff is as well. The main character is a bit of a drag but he's got a recognisable plot arc and he gets better by the end of the game. The supporting cast are pretty cool too and each one gets their own little bit of spotlight (well except maybe Vincent but he gets his own game to make up for that). The Materia system is also pretty great and allows for a lot of fun combinations and a decent sense of power endgame (try deathblow and added attack, my favourite).

My advice? Stick with it and don't listen to massive complaints of "It's overrated blah blah blah", it might be as it was great for it's time but going in with that mindset is going to make you think it's bad automatically. You've played it for less than an hour already and you've enjoyed it so far so just go for it. The plot might get a little overly confusing at times but hey, that's what the internet is for to bicker over the details years after the game came out XD

Not what I was thinking when I got it. I got it and thought, "Hey why not. They say it's great. I'm overall interested, anyway" since I had played Crisis Core beforehand. I can sort of see why people would call VII to have been great in '97, not very much... but I don't see why people say it's so great that it holds up to today's standard.

I played a little bit of FF7, and I got bored of it shortly after I reached the part where you get Aeris/Aerith/whatevertheheckyouwannacallher. I don't really care for RPGs that don't have any sort of action-y aspect to them, whether it be action commands or being an action RPG. Then again, that's just me, if you're the sort of person who enjoys those kind of slower paced RPGs, more power to you. They're just not for me.

Wow, that's getting bored early on. I think I always got bored of the game once I got past the Gold Saucer Date. Which feels stupid in the game, since it adds nothing, it has no effect on the story - unlike the actual Relationship Values in Tales of Symphonia! I tried the game three times and always got bored after that date. Forced myself to continue on once. I got to Disc 2, that... air whirlwind area? Or just after snowboarding and gave up.

By the way, I'm currently typesetting the newest chapter for Screaming Lessons... what the hell is this? Where's the scary? Where's the dark image of the horror-nightmare stuff? This doesn't feel like a Screaming Lessons chapter at all! It feels like a transgendered shoujo manga chapter! :gant:

Okay, I finished typesetting that Screaming Lessons chapter and I will say this. Aside from the last few pages, I very easily could've just looked at it and thought, "This is a stupid transgendered shoujo manga chapter!" and people here hopefully know how much I fucking hate shoujo!

Spoiler:

Funny you mention this, because I reached the end of FF7 for the first time around 2 hours ago. Here are my thoughts on the game:

The game has a rather slow start in my opinion. I didn't really get the feeling the characters were getting much stronger when they leveled and I had trouble with finding efficient materia setups. Nor did I really feel anything for cloud at the start, which is bad since he is our protagonist. Also the graphics are outdated, which you will have to accustom to.

But holy hell this game will eventually draw you in. I never played the game before, but somehow I admired how good this game looked for it's time. In my opinion it's not the plot that draws you in, but the characters and the depth of the gameplay. Remember how I said I had trouble with leveling and materia setups? at the end of the game you'll be raining down 9999's and you'll feel awesome. The game has extra bosses, minigames and even whole optional areas and characters (be sure not to miss them!).
Oh and let me touch a bit more on the character thing. FF7 really made me care for It's characters. It's been a long time since I genuinely thought a girl was sweet in a video game and wanted to prevent her from harm. Or stand by a man who killed dozens of innocent people for the sake of his daughter.

You said you've enjoyed the game since the beginning? just wait until you're emotionally invested in this game, it's only going to get better from here on out. Enjoy it.
