Belle (1 year old) was a stray. My parents were working and when they drove around they saw a bunch of kids and they were shouting about a "lost puppy". She then ran up to my parents. We already had three pit bulls at the time (Chico, Roach and Optimus Prime), but we kept her overnight then turned her into ASPCA in the morning. We had gotten attached to her so we decided to adopt her and we got her back. Not instantly, but we got her. ^__^

Mine just start screaming and jump all over people. They're strong, too. TT ~ TT I've been slammed into the wall so many times. Except Chico... he just sits in the corner and waits until the other two are finished THEN he goes up and rubs up against people's legs like "Pet me, swine!"

Also is Persona 4 a RPG or a fighting game? I always thought it was a fighting game, but these often aren't deep enough story wise to ponder subjects in life.

I have nothing against a fighting game having a story, but it has to be done in a fitting way. I play a fighting game's story mode to mostly fight. I don't want to have to read BIG BLOCKS OF TEXT for a good 5 or almost 10 minutes before I get to that damn battle.

I would also like to nominate really stories that are really confusing that don't make a lick of sense to anyone, specifically Tekken and Mortal Kombat (before the reboot). Both franchises have been around for a long time and both have really confusing plots and story-lines.

As I explained before to Cat a while ago. Persona 4 Arena was placed in the difficult position of coming from a story-heavy RPG background but being a fighting game. Fans of Persona 4 would be used to a heavy story element and want to see plenty of character dialogue. Fans of Fighting games probably couldn't care less.
Therefore the STORY MODE has a heavy story as befitting of a Persona game and it's easier as the focus is the story not the combat and you wouldn't want to seal off story with an insurmountable battle for people inexperienced at fighting games (Especially an Atlus one who make pretty complex fighting games). HOWEVER the game still caters to fighting game fans...you can get an extremely abridged story via Arcade mode which places a heavier emphasis on fighting. You can also just fight in single Versus fights in Versus mode against the computer or friends, there's a training and challenge mode to hone skills and if you want you can go to straight to the ring and duke it out against online opponents.
No modes are sealed away or require unlocking, everything is available at the start (with the exception of the 'True ending' to story mode).
I don't have a problem with an opinion being wrong, but I feel Cat's opinion undersells

And I'll stand by it. Persona and Fighting game do not mix well, as proven. As you say, Persona games are very text heavy - DURR they are RPGs and not Fighting games. Fighting games have simple stories, some that can be explained in short cutscenes or character dialogues and not me reading the whole goddamn thing on a TV that can't even display the damn controls properly because I apparently need fucking HD to view this game properly.
Anyhow, as proven with Arena, mixing text-heavy-Persona with fighting-focused-Fighting Games does not work very well. You either have to do one or the other. Even the excuse of the battles in Arena makes no sense. I'm not saying it does in most games, but at least DoA gave us the reason that DOATEC was hosting large tournaments and people went there, all for their personal reasons. So playing each character would bring us a reason why they are there. Street Fighter never seemed to have much overall story going on, each character having their own story. But then it's called Street Fighter, so I wouldn't expect much of a story anyway.
If they want to make a continuation of a Persona game, they should not mix it with a game genre that they have very large difficulty with in connecting or representing properly. Mixing, like, Zelda with a Fighting games makes more sense as Zelda games never were that large on story, anyway. We can say that winning the tournament saves the world and - bam, there you have it, an overall main plot for a Zelda game.

So you admit that your previous problems weren't really fair? Well that's progress enough.
I don't have a problem with fanservice games not adding much. I expect them just to be a little bit more of what I liked before and yeah it gives me that. Even then it adds enough, no one can really tell what it adds to the Persona universe until we see 5 and see what connects. Though personally I'd quite like to see Labrys as a party member come 5.

Since when did Fighting games have to have simple stories? Blazblue, Arcana Heart, Tekken, Soul Calibur all have pretty extensive plots behind them. Soul Calibur even came with a flow chart because everything got so complex.

I don't really see how "There is a fighting tournament" is any worse of an excuse for battle than the one pulled in Persona. To explain the nature of the tournament held in P4A would be a spoiler but it's totally in fitting with the Persona 4 'lore'.
Also you said twice there "as proven". That's not the right words to use, it assumes 'I am right, this is an accepted fact' and it comes off as very confrontational and even offensive to those who think otherwise (or even those who believe in fair debate).
You seem to think the game has to meet your extremely narrow standards of what a game should be and you don't seem to tolerate even attempts at genre-fusion. There's no reason a fighting game can't have a lengthy story so long as there's an audience for it and the Persona fans are used to the long story so it shouldn't be a problem for them and as I said before the fighting game fans don't need to bother at all.

I agree it was abit rushed but I liked the anime and it's not really all that different from the game so far from what I played. That's from reaching chapter 5 though.

I agree it was abit rushed but I liked the anime and it's not really all that different from the game so far from what I played. That's from reaching chapter 5 though.
I figured I'd give the game a try while the show was still airing. I had the emulator all setup and stuff, but I got distracted pretty easily. Ended up finishing the series without playing the game, and I lost all interest in DR.

I still haven't finished the game due to the fact I'm stuck at the infinite loading screen in ch 5 -.-. I say play the game but make sure you don't only use save states.
