Seems like I've neglected making these rips, been playing ORAS xD
But I've done Edgeworth's first still sprite:

3DS (cleaned it up):

iOS here

I've decided to go for Nearest Neighbour for the DS size sprites so I won't have to clean 2 times :sillytrucy:

Thanks! I'll add those! (And yeah, Nearest Neighbour saves a lot of time!) The only thing is the faces come out pixelated, but that'd take a while to fix (Like resizing the image in bibulic as well, and deleting everything except the face for each frame, which is what I did for that Trucy one, but that takes a while, and is less efficient :meekins: )

I don't really have a preference of characters (aside from Fulbright, but I hear you're already on the case with that one.) So I guess you can just send me whatever you're NOT working on. Are you just gonna upload the raw files somewhere and send them to me? Like, you could either PM me here or on YouTube, whatever you prefer.

OH. And also, how would you feel about these DD sprites being animated in the "Classic" Ace Attorney style? Like, the 3-frame talking style? I feel like that could be very beneficial to the community and stuff, as well.

With these ones, they're more like 'rips' as opposed to 'sprites', and so if the 3D models moved their mouths smoothly, then do each frame. If you want, you can make them the 3 pose mouths separate, and I can add them as well?

Also, I'm still uploading the footage (I wanted to remove the audio, and the screen recorder only works if it's recording the microphone, and you can hear my dad in it, so I'm muting them for privacy reasons. Hopefully this doesn't drop the quality.)

EDIT: I swapped the audio with some default track in the youtube editor, so It should be all good.

I've finished cleaning set 1 of the 3DS-sized Trucy :will: here
P.S I found a simple way to clean (since I'm using frames but I think it works for timeline too)
Make a duplicate layer of the first layer (body, if you are afraid that you may make mistakes) after resizing. Then use the magic wand to select the transparent areas (ensure that all the 3 choices are unticked and the tolerance is set to 1?) and fill the selected parts with any color (dark [optional] and different from the sprite's color) then use the eraser tool and clean up the transparent parts that are not coloured. To check, select the coloured background and delete then recolour it. Zoom out to check any missed parts and zoom in to clean it up. Saves quite some time. :justice:

And that's great to know! I'll try that out when I get back to making these. (I actually forgot about this thread :meekins: )

The tutorial is very useful, but what about for animations that move, like Apollo slamming the desk, for example? I've seen gifs with no background for a gif that move a lot like that, and yet they have such clean backgrounds. How did people manage to cut out each frame so cleanly? :udgey:
EDIT: This is what i'm referring to:

EDIT: The gif won't loop...

You need to tell a GIF to loop "Forever" when saving it. It's different depending on the program, but in Photoshop, under the animation pane, there's a drop down box you need to change from "Once" to "Forever".

Also cleanly cutting things out just takes time. Turning off "Anti-Alias" when selecting the frames also removes any fuzz.

I might bump this thread after finding some new info.
People over at GBATemp (Back in Jan!) got Athena's 3D Model (partially) ripped from the game! It seems her head and hand poses are separate models and switch depending on the pose (Interesting)

Spoiler: imgage

If this is more successful, we'd need a "Models" subforum! I'd love it if any 3D savvy CR members could put up tutorials on how to cell shade/light and pose the models!

Check this thread Oliver. Rips are there:

Unfortunately I need a windows to use 3DS Max, so I'm stuck with this... I wonder if I can find a workaround... I kinda want to do some custom poses XD

Also, are we animating the transition animations? Like, Apollo :think-think-think: putting his finger on his head or Athena :athena: flicking her earring.
Hopefully, I'm not the only one still doing this. I want to finish a set of animations by next year.

Feel free to animate an pose you want! :basil: And yeah atm you're the only one still doing this. I stopped because there wasn't enough demand, so there was no point

Aw gumballs. I can see why there isn't much of a demand, but it'd still be pretty convenient to have around. I sorta procrastinated on doing this a lot, but since I plan to make a 3D Phoenix Wrong sometime in 2016, I've made this my duty.

Only issue is re-sizing the sprites. I'm not really all that sure how to make it the right DS size without losing quality. :knock-knock: Any pointers?

What program do you use? If it's photoshop then just go edit>Image Size and decrease size.

I'm currently using Gimp. And, even if I was using Photoshop like I usually do, I don't know how to get it exactly to the right DS size.

Return to do videos!
Just kidding, nice to see another youtuber coming to the forums.
Also, I don't want to be picky but for some reason the colors seem a bit off in those Apollo rips.
And if you want them to be in DS size you actually need to cut a part of the sprite since Apollo Justice sprites show less of the body than the DD sprites do, after that you can resize them.

DS Screen size is 256 x 192 pixels, so just get them to fit in those boundaries and make sure all animations are the same height roughly, and you're all set! I won't be able to now, but if you want I can try to resize a few to start you off?

Sorry guys, I think I've disappeared a little too long..? Been busy with school

I wish they had a Maya file for the models though.. I don't learn 3DSMax in school..

But yea I'll get back to ripping the iOS sprites when I find the chance to... Or hopefully there's a way to import the animations into the models so we could all just render them from the front view or something?
