Just found this on the Anime News Network site, thought it'd be great for people to know:

Del Rey Gets Fairy Tale, Phoenix Wright, Genshiken Fan Guide
posted on 2007-07-28 19:03 EDT
Del Rey Manga's new Comic-Con International 2007 acquisitions, scheduled for release starting in January 2008, are Fairy Tail, Hell Girl, a manga adaptation of CAPCOM's Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Nintendo DS game, and a manga version of the life story of legendary blue musician Robert Johnson, entitled Me and the Devil Blues. Del Rey will also publish Hideyuki Kikuchi's Dark Wars: A Tale of Meiji Dracula novel, the Psycho Busters light novel, and the Genshiken Fan Book.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm super excited after hearing this. :D

I'm really glad that Del Ray got the licence. Unlike a certain other manga comglomerate, they really treat the original works with respect and do some good translations.

Plus, they release their books in the UK at the same time as US, so there's a chance I'll be able to buy it without having to go to London's Forbidden Planet store.

And Fairy Tail too! From the guy who made Groove Adventure Rave. I love that series.

Posted this in the Comic-Con thread already, but I suppose it deserves its own thread. :)

Really looking forward to this. From what I've read of the manga (on this site and in raw form) it captures the feel of the games really well.

If it's the Young Magazine manga then...bleh.

What I've read of it has been pretty mediocre.

That is the best news I've heard all day, even better than the PW manga annoucement.

I wonder... are they translating the manga that had Turnabout Gallows, or are they creating one? Yeah, I'm stupid.

Well, I admit I know jack about Del Ray and mangas in general, but I'm just excited to see more PW merchandise, so this news makes me very happy.

[UPDATE OF SORTS.]

Hm. I was browsing to find out more about the Phoenix Wright manga, so I went to ANN again. Looked up news on Del Rey from Comic-Con, and from one of the paragraphs, I found this -

...and the official four-volume adaptation of the hit Nintendo DS game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

[Link - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convent ... -rey-manga]

Man. I had hoped it would've been longer...but at least we're getting a manga in the first place, ne?

Four Volume....

How does that work? I mean, There's The Butz case, that was one part. Then you've got the Spider Mansion on which was 4 parts maybe? *Forgets* And then we've got the Franny one, Which is multiple segments as well

... Maybe they're grouping all the Chapters together?

I saw the first two volumes at ConnectiCon. It didn't look like they bothered at all separating the volumes by case. If the run of the manga is only three cases, plus the Sparklypoo land weekly-released manga, four volumes might be right.

I was actually at the Del Rey panel. I asked specifically if it was the Young Magazine version and Dallas said that it wasn't. It's just the offical anthologies.

The picture they used for the cover was this one. Dallas affirmed that it was the cover of the property they had. So it's absolutely definitely not the one currently being serialized.

What does that mean for us? Will we still assume the YM one is going to follow and stop scanlating it? Are we going to finish the "Turnabout Gallows" arc though (wouldn't be against scanlating ethics as long as the actual material isn't licensed yet...)

I wouldn't assume it's going to follow. It would have been easy enough for them to get the YM version--they have a partnership with Kodansha--but instead they went after the Capcom one deliberately.

That would be horridly amusing. XD

What's he gonna do? Hit them with his precious cravat?

No! He'll dress them in the cravat and teach them the proper way to dip tea bags.

You know, that gave me a silly idea. You know how Japanese characters like to wear 7 or so belts? Replace the word belt with cravat.

Well, now that we know that it's the anthologies and not the Manga we've been working on, I'd like to say we're still doing it, but we've been hit with some disorganization lately.

Either way, I'll keep doing my part until I hear otherwise.

Does, any one know if Borders or Barnes and Noble are taking pre-orders on the PW manga?

I'll investigate, does anyone have/know the ISBN for the Manga?

I'm sure a Brit would take pity on you if it came to that and get some shipped over. I'd certainly do anything to try and save a victim from the dreadful fate of entering a Forbidden Planet.

According to the goods section on the main site they are "A collection of fan-created manga officially published by Capcom."

Ignore me, it's too late at night.

Can anyone get a screenshot of at least one of the untranslated pages so we can see roughly what this is, 'cause I'm not 100%sure which of these it is. :P

Just a thought, really...it may answer a few questions on folks mind.

Spoiler:
Hello, I'm kind of new to this forum. This manga being published by Del Ray is called the "Official Anthology," right? Does that mean that it's the exact same plot as the four GS games, but in a manga format instead of a game? Or am I completely wrong?

Unfortunately, that's not the case. The four volume anthology set is full of short fan comics from different artists. If you've ever seen pictures of Edgeworth fending off a bear, I think that's the one we're talking about (not completely certain, though).
