Sorta worried now, since they've got an entire new country to flesh out and explore. Hope they manage to do that in the time they allocate to it. I'd rather the writers focus on one setting instead of trying to balance two, but I'll have to trust that they have a sufficiently interesting way to connect the two sides together somehow.

I bet you Apollo will face off against Blackquill. I was glad to see Gavin again in DD but I dont think he has much to do after AJ. Blackquill was a character created by this team and he's only been in one game so I think he'll be a little like Edgeworth in JFA. With that in mind, Klavier could fit a role a little like in DD or Edgeworth's role in T&T as a limited-time assistant.
Of course, theres also the possability that the prosecutor that was hinted is against Phoenix, but Apollo's words are directed towards someone else.
They claimed they started working on this game (probably just pre-production) in december of 2013, so I'd love if the game came out in early 2016, if only because We'd get it sooner.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

It looks like a crisper, more refined version of Maya's sprite with her hands together. It makes sense, since one is a princess and the other (at least at the time) was just cruising through her training. I really like how having two settings opens up the possibility for more cameos and more new characters too. With Apollo still in LA, there's a good chance we'll have Ema return. If Phoenix is alone in Kurain, that ensures Maya will get to reprise her assistant role for old time's sake. Where Trucy will be remains a mystery. She could tag along with Daddy or she could be in charge of the office. We all know Apollo isn't high enough on the pecking order. Charley is at the top, by the way.

He was a wasted character slot from day one and even if they had the opportunity to flesh him out into someone interesting, they can't hold my interest in him long enough to actually care at this point. I did like how they tried to make the prosecutor not be overly antagonistic for once. After all the stuff we see Edgeworth go through, it felt right to get a character like that. Otherwise I pretty much agree with you on Klavier though, aside from that one specific aspect he's pretty uninteresting to deal with.
Nevertalk's description of Klavier is pretty much how I personally feel about Apollo - but by virtue of the character "deserving" (I hate this line of reasoning) to get focus, Klavier too will probably be prominent since he still is Apollo's go-to rival character. Simon, who others have mentioned, is more of an Athena character than anything else.

I concur with this notion. Having Klavier as an assistant could further develop his character, specially interacting with "Herr Forehead", Trucy and Athena.

Or instead of making the 6th case DLC, have 3 for Apollo and 3 for Nick. (but what's the definitive ending then?) Are they going to be shorter stories for both characters? A "choose your side" scenario? It wasn't done with DD so I doubt that.
Also, I kinda want the Payne Bros to be the Kurain prosecutors, and have Apollo face someone new (seeing as the extended trailer showed him, in Kurain's court no less, talking about the new prosecutor). Klavier was the weakest rival IMO and he's basically friends with Apollo and Athena now, so I'd see him as being a helper. (They kinda expanded his personality by having him look up to Constance Courte, but that was more likean excuse to chuck him into the case IMO).

True. It's nice that they didn't just rehash Edgey. But I think they went too much into the other direction - Klavier isn't a rival, he's more like Larry, but less annoying. He's the friend you have that kind of gets in the way of things you do, at times, but not so much that it becomes a real obstacle. Kind of annoying, but ultimately not a big hinderance. (And then, GS5 went the opposite direction. By making Blackquill, who is all DARK and MISUNDERSTOOD, he's like Edgey, only worse in terms of dark, troubled past)
And, yeah, he's kind of not interesting. As said, they made him not care about things, so I find it hard to care about things happening to him or what he says, which ultimately makes him boring. It's... kind of like Squall in the beginning of FFVIII. (And, to an extent, Cloud in FFVII) His initial reaction to everything is "Whatever" and he doesn't care. Going to a place and running away from a robot? Whatever. Out on a mission to stop a sorceress that will doom the world? Whatever. Like, dude, I honestly cannot get invested in whatever the fuck you're doing to save the world, if you don't show at least some enthusiasm.

Interesting to have Apollo taking case(s) in Japanifornia while Phoenix is elsewhere. I'm thinking the arc of the game will connect the cases that happen in Kurain and in Japanifornia somehow.
I think Apollo will face either Blackquill or Klavier. They did make Klavier's 3D sprites in DD, so they could actually put them to use in AA6. However, since the team is familiar with Blackquill, I would bet that he returns. He would be a late-arrival spoiler, though, due to his lack of handcuffs/no longer a criminal. I don't think that would stop him from returning, though.
Apollo vs Edgeworth would be amazing, but it's not going to happen.
I expect Athena to return as the assistant for Apollo. They already made her as a character and have her sprites. She'd obviously have a much smaller spotlight too.
I laughed when I read Gaspen Payne was the Chief Prosecutor. That's pretty hilarious. I wonder if this game takes place more than a year after DD? (probably not. Payne's ascension to Chief Prosecutor will probably be inexplicably fast)
Also, who's going to be Phoenix's assistant? A new character [girl]? Or perhaps Pearls or Maya? I don't think Athena will be making the trip over there, but there's still a possibility.

I then wonder what would happen to Athena. I just hope she doesn't get sidelined like Trucy did in GS5 (ironic I mention that since it was the focus from Apollo/Trucy to Athena is what led to her sidelining) . I know that she most likely won't be in a major role like the last game, but I do hope she can make the trip to Kurain.

I agree with the idea behind Klavier. AJ turned the defense/prosecution relationship on its head by having the defense attorney (Kristoph) be the evil, antagonistic one and the prosecution be the good guy. That could have worked except for one big problem. Klavier turned out to be a helpful doormat that guided you through walking all over him.
You sent his brother and his best friend to prison and he Just. Doesn't. Care. A little tension between him and Apollo could have started a good rivalry or given some nice drama but there isn't any. He's just friendly from the start, so who cares? With Edgeworth, we had to earn his friendship over the course of a full game. With Klavier, it's just handed to us with a little air-guitar on the side. Even in DD, Apollo's like "I wouldn't really say he's my rival" because he isn't. He's just some prosecutor.

My ideal scenario is Apollo/Athena in Japanifornia and Phoenix/Maya in Kurain with Trucy and Pearl together on the side. I want to see that Fey/Wright family in full force and I want to see Apollo and Athena scrambling to keep the office from burning down because they have no idea how to run a business.

This is the problem i found with Klavier..he seems too nonchalant about his brother. Furthermore he is quite full of mystery too, for someone with a psychotic brother, there's bound to be something. But that's just my silly headcanon.

The TGS demo has confirmed that this game will take place one year after DD, so yes, Payne ascended to "high/chief prosecutor" status within one year. The only way that's plausible is because no one else was interested in the position.
And I thought prosecutors were loved in this country. These folk are subtly sadistic.

He didn't. He lends a hand to the B-team on occassions. Bear in mind he also designed Apollo's DLC outfit for DD, and Ema is his baby so everytime she appears, he'll do the work.

I personally would prefer if Phoenix managed to go through investigations and cases without one, but I can see why they might 'need' one. They want someone to bounce ideas off of, to comment on things and maybe even focus on things that Phoenix wouldn't.

Plot twist: Phoenix traveled there for a reason completely unrelated to their legal system. He was seeking the rumored fountain of youth. Given that he's constantly de-aging,
But joking aside, in this sort of culture, the young grow up really fast because circumstances force them to take charge. I'm sure we're all familiar with the archetype of monks-in-training in fiction, right? Bokto is probably going to be an orphan raised by the temple monks. Even monks gotta work to make money somehow, but at least they don't demand much pay. Likewise, that Leifa is only 14 and summoning spirits as an official job would suggest her mother may or may not be "available" anymore, or that we've got another case of the daughter-prodigy, like with Pearl. I'm going for the latter, since I'd rather see a queen in power, rather than a king. It'd also be easier to draw parallels between Leifa and her mother and show if there is any dissonance between them.
If Maya isn't going to show, that's what I'd prefer as a back-up plan.

It's because they're really stingy and don't want to bother with rising costs of tending to children... at least, for the most part. Also, a lot of young people this generation are more interested in virtual romance than real, since the latter needs so much time and attention before it can stabilize into a more trusting relationship.
Besides, old media is doing just fine with passing attention to the old fogeys. Games are a modern type of media.
