Esther rested her chin on her bandaged fist in thought. "I believe that Emilia is telling us the truth, and that she is not allied with the coven." She sighed heavily. "I also believe that Forsythia is not a witch. The coven is trying to blend in, and she - clearly isn't."

She gave a weary look to Pétur. "I also believe that you are telling the truth about the powder. Your story matches André's." Her voice cracked on his name. "That means you did not kill him. I know you feel fine, but just to be safe, I can examine you and make sure you are in good health."

Forsythia descends the steps from her house, changed into a fresh dress. Her face is now completely obscured by bandages and the hat. She seems to be eating directly out of a jar of honey, scooping out a spoonful.

"What good would it do a witch to commune with the dead? Not much, I'd say. I mean, perhaps the witches could learn one or two of our secrets by asking us questions in the night, but by that point, much of our memories would already be publicly available."

"It seems she's the real deal, too, judging by the boldness of her claim and her ability to back it up twice now. There's room to doubt of course, but I wouldn't doubt it much."

Vaughan slowly stumbles back towards the town, it seems like he's been occupied in his own home. As he approaches he wipes some sweat off of his forehead.

After mourning the death of the late Detective, the townspeople retire to their homes, some relieved at their survival while others worried and terrified at the thought of being next.

"I have something to say," said Esther. Dark circles were under her eyes this morning. She took a breath. "I think Cooper had the right idea last time. We cannot stay put and do nothing while the coven picks us off one by one.

"I don't have any proof of who is in the coven, but I have some ideas about who is not. André and Pétur were both incapacitated with that powder, and the coven still committed murder without them. Cooper tried harder than anyone to spur the citizens of Moonview into action, when the coven would benefit from us doing nothing. Furthermore, we must remember that the coven are among us. They are trying to be either easy to trust or hard to notice - the opposite of Forsythia and Amory's behavior. Emilia has claimed to be a medium, and she can support her claim. I don't believe a member of the coven would call attention to herself like that."

She swayed a little, but retained her balance. "Any of us could be in league with the coven. But I think that Pétur, Cooper, Forsythia, Amory, and Emilia are not likely to be."

"Unfortunately, that might be our best course of action. Without any solid evidence to debate over, simply interrogating others may be the closest we can get to finding a culprit. And perhaps if someone's alibi does not match another's testimony, it might just work."

There was a clatter as Cooper threw something metallic on the table in front of him. It was a long-barreled revolver. He flicked the chamber open with his thumb to show six empty holes. “It’s empty now, so there’s no point in hiding it. But this still paints a giant target on my back so you better believe me.”
