Astrid listened attentively to Luka’s lecture, and even clapped a little at the end.

“Have we ruled out the possibility that Zero just stuck a tiny speaker inside the stone yet?” Astrid wondered aloud.

"That would be the most likely scenario. The rock responded when I said it was a recording, so they probably have an impersonator in a room somewhere to mess with us." Ember said. "That would also explain Iris..."

"I don't think rocks can have... ghosts... but the poems were about life and fairness, or something. Not very interesting." Anna comments. "I think they were mostly meant to be for Luka."

“Yea...” Luka once again spoke without directly looking at anyone. “I think the room was modeled after this friend of mine, Jason Church. Not that I’ve ever seen his room or anything, but everything seemed to relate to him in some way.”

Vivienne shook her head in exasperation. "Oh my my, forgive me for the rudeness, but you all are simply awful at sharing information! I suppose I'll have to scope the entire place out myself..."

Vivienne examined everything in the church room very fast, causing the relevant details to be magically revealed publicly.

Vivienne goes through the CHURCH room looking for the relevant details.

The sunbeam is stretching further across the empty bedroom.

---

Vivienne checks where the floorboards were moved, examining the space between the floor beams. It seems that the area is covered in line carvings similar to the ones found in the werewolf room. It seems like somebody was keeping that whispering green rock under the floorboards. The lines seem like they should form a picture, but it's hard to see what they would be.

---

There's a normal digital sound recorder on the windowsill. It seems kinda old. The device is played, and the room is suddenly filled with the chanting and song of hundreds of people. It's hard to hear all the musical sounds within the symphony of voices due to the poor quality, but it sounds quite complex. The tune has a distant nostalgic feeling.

---

Vivienne goes through the papers in the closet. They're poems. Ones about the weather, ones about life, some about love, and so on. They're somewhat amateurish, admittedly.

"If one is fair, must they be just?
Why in fairness did I put my trust?"

It's charming for sure.

---

At the top of the closet is a safe it's been opened. There were two items in there. One is an article, the other is a page from a journal.

The journal entry is the following:

"...I'm still building up the courage to talk to him. I keep passing up on chances as they come. I want to amaze him and sweep him off his feet. I'm building up a poem that should really wow him, hopefully he'll feel as loved as he is."

"I'm wondering about if he's safe though. Sometimes at school I see him hiding burns and bruises. I want to be there for him so he can fully rely on someone. Hopefully he'll understand that."

The article is the following:

"New evidence from the security cameras at the Kovacic house suggest that the last month disappearance of Lukas Kovacic and Jason Church was actually a kidnapping carried out by Jason Church. Although neither teen has been found, blood was found at the crash site belonging to the two of them. Their current location is unknown."

---

One of the wood panels around the room comes free from the wall when it is pulled on. There on the wall is a series of faded crayon drawings. Each one depicts a different adventure starring the same two stick people, and they seemingly start at the top corner of the panel and run in a zigzag pattern across the wall.

The first picture is of the two playing in a meadow in a forest. The next has the two of them running from a dinosaur. The third has the two traveling to space...

Obviously, it's all kinda illogical. Seems like it was made by a kid a long time ago.

In the bottom corner, there are no more pictures, as they abruptly end, leaving space for more...

Scrawled nearby in barely-legible handwriting, it says, "The Story of Me and Jason".

---

In the corner of the room is a picture frame. The picture frame is cracked and of an older style. Flipping it over, anyone can an see that two small photos are tucked into the corner of the frame.

Both seem to be school photos, probably senior pictures.

One is of a grim-looking boy with black hair. He looks like Luka wearing different clothes.

The other picture is less familiar. It's of a blonde girl wearing a fur coat. She is reminiscent of Stella.

Wesley looked deeply uncomfortable about all this. "It feels as though we're intruding on someone's life here... I'm not sure I want to stay in this room too long. Somehow the Emerald room with all the dead animals was better."

As people walk around upstairs, the end of the round rings over the speakers

Code:
Anna: Attack Stella
Luka: Attack Wesley
Ember: Attack Wesley
Hazel: Attack Astrid
Astrid: Defend
Wesley: Defend
Vivienne: Defend
Maximillion: Attack Vivienne
Stella: Attack Maximillion

Astrid, Wesley, and Vivienne must choose who to hit with their points.

Stella loses 1 life.
Maximillion loses 1 life.

As standard, after the results are announced, a message appears on the screen.

Code:
Here is your fact about WESLEY NAUGHT:

According to public records, Wesley Naught lived at 929 Castle Lane, which is a heavily-wooded street on the south side of Fox Harbor. Later, he moved out to Hollywood and starred in Falling From The Nest without any formal high-school or college education.

"Oh, of course, how did I miss that..." Wesley mumbled, staring at the results, Luka's in particular. "If he's not actually sedated then nothing stops him continuing this part of the game, of course. I'll deflect the life-loss to Luka, then."

"What on earth...?" Hazel seemed in shock, but not at the results of the round, strangely enough. She didn't even respond to Astrid at all. She instead turned in Wesley's direction. "I... you... 929 Castle Street... How did I never know? How did I never know that you lived at my own address? This is... I..." She seemed at a loss of words at this revelation, as if trying to uncover some ancient memory of hers... if there even was one.

Maximillion nodded "Yes...it does seem a strange situation where a loser of the game is still allowed to participate in this manner but I did ask this and Zero did not confirm it so this surprise is probably by design." he mused for a moment before chuckling "Though I do feel rather injured right now! It is quite a thrill to be on the edge at the last leg of this game. Wouldn't you say so Astrid?"

He paused as Hazel cried out and then sat silently waiting to see what would happen.

Wesley seemed similarly unsure of this, and took a while to answer. "Do you... really not remember? Your own great-grandson? I did wonder, given your lack of reaction..."

Anna turns to Hazel and starts staring in a very inquisitive way.

"Ah, I suppose I have no choice but to direct the life-loss at Ember, then..." Wesley said.

"But yes, the sedation is a worry. There's a chance Hazel is exempt in just the same way Luka was, perhaps," he added hopefully.

"I... what...?" Hazel seemed confused by the implication of Wesley's statement. "That... that can't be right, no. You can't be my boy... I only have one great grand son... or great great grandson? I forget which, sometimes... Either way, he is of a younger age than you are... It doesn't seem to add up... no.... What.... what is....."

As her pauses grew more elongated, she started to stagger a bit. "Oh dear... I... I feel.... tired.... Somebody please help...." Indeed, an exhausted expression was on her face. "I.... need.... to sit down......"

"Oh dear, this is looking like a repeat of the Castle room when she saw the picture of herself and all those children..." Wesley muttered, hurrying to grab a chair from somewhere nearby. "Maybe it would actually be the for the best if the sedation worked this time, after all."

“What, pray tell, is going on with this game?” Vivienne asked incredulously. “First the sedative fails, then the recently deceased are allowed to keep attacking, and now Zero’s ‘facts’ are being called into question? Prhaps this could have used a little more play-testing.”

Vivienne shrugged and added, “Apologies, Max, but it seems I have no choice but to return the favor.”

"It's not working though!" Anna doesn't really seem to care about Hazel tipping over, instead she just turns around to everyone else. "The sedative really is a sham. I guess the punishment is just not getting the money."

"What... do you mean... it isn't... working?" Hazel asked, slowly falling onto the chair Wesley brought over for her. Indeed, her expression looked more drowsy than in distress. "I can feel it... course through..... my body...."

Her eyes started to droop a bit. It was clear she was starting to struggle to stay up a bit as she tried to recall something. "Mister.... Wesley, was it....?" She turned back towards him. "You.... you aren't my boy... I'm afraid.... He's.... only about eight...... and.... he has blonde hair.... You can't..... be..... the same person."

Anna turns around and blushes. "Oh! -- I'm so sorry. It just... looked so similiar to every other time that, it didn't really seem like it."

She pauses for a bit and bites her lip in embarassment. "Anyway... do you know when the last time you saw your grandson was?"

“Don’t try to fight it,” Astrid said soothingly (or at least in an attempt to) as she walked over to Hazel. “Just rest for a bit. We’ll sort this out when you wake up, okay?” Astrid stared at Hazel, watching to make sure there wasn’t any adverse reactions to the sedative.

"It was... a long time ago....." Hazel quietly responded to Anna. "What year was.... hmm.... I don't... recall.... it's hard to tell... sometimes. I've... probably forgotten... a lot about him... on purpose, anyhow..."

As Astrid calmed her down, she slowly nodded, affirmatively leaning back in her chair a bit. As she appeared to almost doze off, however, her eyes widened again, and she turned towards Wesley. "...Tell me.... do you know... about our family's..."

She didn't finish the question, but it seemed oddly deliberate on her part.

As Hazel passed out in the chair, it tipped over and she fell onto the floor, luckily not hitting her head. Yes this happened. Luka went over to her and took his jacket off, laying it comfortably beneath her back and supporting her head off the floor. He didn’t seem too happy with having to deal with the nippy air though.

Beneath his jacket was a rattier t-shirt. Across his arms and the usually hidden parts of his skin, he had a variety of scars, cuts, and bruises of various severity. It was clear some were quite old.

He made no comment about him being able to participate in the round, and instead addressed the others. “All of this stuff Zero’s been revealing to us, do you think there’s a chance any of it is fake?”

Doing his best to ignore all the wounds, Wesley answered, "Enough of it has been the truth that I'm inclined to doubt that. Rather than fake, it's more likely there's more going on than any individual here is aware of, enough that what they personally know doesn't quite seem to fit all the presented facts. That is, at least, how it seems to me, and I think others here too."

“Well, it seems like there are already a lot of inconsistencies people have noticed.” Luka stated monotonously.

“That newspaper article about me, the ‘kidnapping’. That all happened yesterday, at most two days ago. So if Zero can make up something like that, who else can say what he’s messed with?”

"Yes, well... That's just an example of what I meant, really," Wesley replied uncomfortably. "That article came out nearly 20 years ago. Your very presence here is a mystery to me, and from what you've said, perhaps even a mystery to you as well. What you personally know - that you 'disappeared a few days ago' - doesn't fit all the presented facts."

Anna sighs and straightens herself up, muttering that it was at least worth a try.

"How would you go about faking that, though? That's... way too elaborate for just a game. What, did they fake the newspapers? Did they change our memories or something? The morphomorphowhatever thing? Honestly, it's just confusing."
