"Ngh . . . " Zachary's heart drops (it's doing that a lot lately) as the sixth vote comes in. Majority reached, as the only musician left in the family has been condemned to death. Maybe it's the right thing; maybe it's not Vincent at all. Still doesn't make the idea of watching someone be killed any easier. Zach can only watch helplessly as the lynching is carried out.

He slowly makes his way over to the guitar Vincent left behind as he took his final steps. "You and I are now both alike, friend," Zachary mused, sighing as he stroked the guitar's case. "We've both recently lost the people who made us sing; made us ring out with joy. I can only hope that we both find some glimmer of happiness in this cold, dark world eventually."

He completely ignored James. He can have the cursed money for all Zachary cared. Zach simply sat there with the lonely guitar, knowing not what else to do.

Lucine flipped another page she hadn't really read from of a novel she wasn't really interested in.

"... She's in the golden land." she said, after hearing her uncle's little heart to heart with a guitar. "Mrs. Teacher is. Mother is. Everyone is. No one has to be sad..."

Archer frowns a little as he brings out some tea into the dining hall, for anyone who was sticking around and wanted some.

"I do not feel too well about the events that have taken place here. However, as Master Bertram has said, it's possible that Sir Vincent was already a witch to begin with, and the real Vincent has already passed on..." Archer hangs his head a little. "I... Cannot say if that truly comforts me, but it is something, at least. I apologize, Sir Vincent... I hope you are at peace in the 'Golden Land.'"

Then, he looks around at everyone still in the dining hall. "Of course, like always, I live to serve the future of the Moonview family. If there is anything anyone needs of me, you need only ask. Though, I would extend this offer to Allister as well."

"After all, he's only a child..."

"Do you..." Lucine started, then took a minute to take a deep breath and close her book. "... Do you know what kind of tea mother liked? Can you make me some?"

"Of course. Give me only a minute, Milady." Archer smiles at the two children before heading off into the kitchen to prep some tea. Hopefully he comes back and doesn't die or anything. That'd suck.

"Good lord..." Maurice shook his head, staring out of the window. "I can't believe this... For me to be excluded out of the will... And not just that, for that parasite to receive it all instead... This is preposterous!"

He stomped his foot in anger. It seemed he cared more about the money than he had let on. He didn't even seem to mourn Vincent's loss.

"I hope you find peace in the Golden Land, Vincent. With how things are going, it may be far better there than here," Bertram said sadly, before heading upstairs to stash the gun again.

After returning to where the others were, he felt compelled to say, "Lucine, you are an example to us all. We're all going to need to take that attitude if we're to get through this. I can only assume witches yet remain, but we will root them out."

‘Mickey’ did a silent prayer without acknowledging the others. When he was done he picked up the photo of Vincent’s family and pocketed it.

He turned to his father, “You still have the gun? What do you say we go to James’ room and make it two lynches tonight?”

He was joking of course. Probably.

"But wait!" Zachary piped up, still knelt over the guitar case. He stood up before he continued. "Vincent still has living family. Wouldn't that mean his share of the money . . . " 'and the curse.' Zachary gulped. "go to them? Same with what sort of family Uncle Billy might've had?"

"I suppose they are both equally close to Mother as... James was." Maurice admitted with gritted teeth. "We'll have to see how things go first though, I suppose."

"Oh, by the way, brother." He turned towards Bertram. "If you still have doubts about me, fear not. Tomorrow should ideally dispel those doubts of yours."

Wyn clutches onto her necklace, shocked at how casually the Moonviews executed one of their own.

"What's this about a "Golden Land" I keep hearing? Is everyone in this family some kind of occultist?" She asks nervously.

The Third Twilight

[THEME MUSIC]

The light of day is blotted out. It is almost an entire day since Gloria's passing.

From the dining room, the remaining Moonview family members hear the floor creak above them. Everyone looks up at the ceiling, but as suddenly as it happened, it stops.

The possibility of some sort of witch being out there makes everyone nervous.

Bertram nods to Archer and gestures for him to quietly follow him. As Bertram and Archer move to go investigate the noise, Maurice follows them out, apparently thinking he would be safer leaving.

The remaining seven people anxiously await the return of the three, but soon, they've been gone for an hour.

That's when those remaining notice that Wyn is missing. It seems that she must have slipped out of the side door to the dining room.

Twilip and Zachary consider leaving as a big group with the children included to find everyone, but Allister is acting very hesitant to leave. It seems he's very anxious about going anywhere else in the mansion after what happened earlier in the day.

Not wanting to force the issue too much, Zachary decides to go off on his own, insisting that he can't just stand by while everyone dies. He leaves the dining room.

* * *

Zachary runs into his surviving brothers and Archer upstairs. They tell Zachary the details of their investigation and that they hadn't turned anything up. Zachary asks them if they've seen Wyn. Looks of confusion indicate that they haven't. The group decide to go back to the dining room.

They hear faint screaming as they get closer. It sounds like a kid's voice.

[SCENE MUSIC]

They break into a dead sprint across the first floor halls, rushing through the parlor, past the bodies.

The doors to the dining room, and the adults can see Allister struggling as someone holds him up by the arm. The person is hard to place. Are they smiling? Is that...

Asher?

Zachary tackles the man, but Asher doesn't put up any resistance at all, and Allister safely reaches the floor again. He's as dead as ever.

Where is everyone else though? Allister speaks barely a single word:

"Kitchen"

The siblings rush over to the kitchen and open the doors. The first thing they notice is Twilip twisted in a pile on the ground. Thankfully, it seems she is still breathing, but unfortunately the other two sitting at the small table where they had eaten breakfast aren't.

Mickey and Lucine's eyes are wide open, scars stretch across their cheeks from the strain of their wide grins against their skin.

At the same time the siblings enter the kitchen, Allister screams again. Wyn and James, who have just entered the dining room, see Allister rushing over to the collapsed form of Archer. Archer gasps for air one last time, and then his eyes glaze over. He has no external wounds.

"No... Why...?" Bertram had lost all his usual bluster, and was barely able to get any words out. He fell to his knees, staring at the unnerving corpses of his daughter, estranged son and close butler. "I was... I was prepared for more, but this..."

Maurice was clearly alarmed by all this. He ran towards Twilip's collapsed form on the ground, having lost his composure. "Sister?! Are you there?! What happened here?!" He shouted, a tone of fright apparent in his voice. "I... I..."

Ignoring the fact that he almost just died, Allister tightly clutches the lifeless hand of Archer. Tears are streaming down his face as he kneels next to his former teacher.

"F-Father!" He sobbed. "Please, wake up father! You can't leave me! N-Not you too..."

An angered Wyn turns around and points a finger at James.

"You! You did this, didn't you?!" She shouts. "I investigated you... You go around poisoning people each night!" Wyn turns to the others. "He's a Witch!"

Twilip's eyes steadily open at the sound of her brother. She pushes herself up in a sitting position on the ground, but is hunched over with her head hanging down. "Yeah I. I'm fine" She murmurs slowly as she looks up at her Maurice. "Why, what's wrong?" Twilip looks around and notices the bodies of her niece and nephew and falls silent.

"Oh... you caught me. I may poison people but I'm not a witch. In fact, I'm on your side because I mostly only kill people who I suspect are witches. However, the only person I've managed to kill is Archer and I haven't killed anyone else. My others targets which were Vincent and Billy died before the poison could take effect. If you're wondering I did not kill Basil that was someone else's doing who may not be willing to help you like I am. If I was a witch wouldn't I kill with magic instead of poison? I recommend not lynching me because I can help fight against these witches."

"So you kill people but aren't a Witch? How are we supposed to believe that? Why would you kill Archer?" Wyn retorts. "And I wouldn't put it past Witches to use poison...your witchy poison is probably the kind that's giving them all those creepy smiles."

"Dammit, Basil and Robin didn't visit each other either. If he's a witch, he isn't the killing kind," Zachary mused to nobody, and yet knew it'd reach everybody somehow, "M-Maybe my tunnel vision is too strong . . . but MY WIFE!"

Zachary instinctively moves forward to investigate the kitchen in more detail, making it harder on himself by weeping mournfully as he muttered, "Lucine . . . Mickey . . . Archer . . . May you all find peace in the Golden Land."

"Oh don't give me that 'I'm on your side' bullshit, James!" Zach shouted as he continued, "Two of the three people you poisoned were mentioned in the will, and I have no doubt you would've gone after my wife had she not died first!"

Maurice turned over to James, giving him a look of fury. "So you're admitting to murder? That alone is enough to make you suspicious. And poisoning people... That would be a convenient excuse for you. 'I don't use magic to kill, therefore I am not a witch'. That could simply be your way of throwing people off."

"In fact... You claim to have used this poison on that hippie, but he died before it took place. How long does your poison take to kill someone then? Twice the amount? If that was the case, Vincent should have died as well. This is simply a ridiculous defense on your part."

He got up, straightening himself. "I place my vote for James. There is no way he's going to get away with this tomfoolery now." He said firmly.

Twilip rises to her feet and just stares at James. "Wow. You know James you might actually be onto something. We should kill the probable witches just to be safe, but I just don't know what rat bastard could possibly be a witches." She begins shaking. "If only we had someone who just admitted to wanting to kill most of the inheritors of mother's apparently cursed fortune while admitting to have murdered someone else. If only that same person would've mysteriously laid claim to the fortune after all of the inheritors were dead while completely neglecting Wyn, the other potential candidate for inheritance." She takes a breath.
"IF ONLY THAT BASTARD, JAMES MOONVIEW, WAS HERE RIGHT NOW!" She bellows out while pointing at him with a single shaking hand.

At this little bit Twilip explodes with rage, slamming a closed fist on a nearby table repeatedly.
"YOU POISONED THAT FREAK BEFORE WE EVEN KNEW OF THE WITCHES' MURDERS AND WE'RE JUST SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT THAT YOU OF ALL VILE LEACHES TOOK IT UPON YOURSELF TO FREE US OF A MENACE WE WERE UNSURE EVEN EXISTED!"

"Look at Archer. That's a man who has been poisoned," Bertram said shakily. "Now look at poor Lucine... That is not poison. That's some kind of vile magic. I'm with James on this, I don't believe he's a witch. His method of killing doesn't line up with how the witches do things, and only the current witch leader can kill people . Only one witch can kill people at a time. If you vote for James now, you'll be making a terrible mistake. He may be an awful person but he's worth more alive than dead.

"Wyn, you said yourself that you found out he poisons people. That doesn't line up with how we know witches operate. If anything, your investigation should be enough to prove he's not a witch."

"Then if you're on our side, who killed Basil? He didn't die like the others, so if there really is a killer among us who isn't a Witch, he must have died by their hands. But you're saying you didn't kill him...?" Wyn asks in disbelief.

"I-Look. The only reason I don't vote your head clean off this instant, James, is because it strikes me as odd that the witches would have such a powerful killing spell and a timed killing power as well."
.
.
.
"Oh! Another Magic Circle. This one is different," Zachary finally said, examining the fridge, "It has a cross shape in its center. First four smaller circles, then an infinity symbol. Now this . . . I'm gonna need some time."

While he thought about it, he examined the area near the bodies. "There are some smashed vials nearby which had some sort of dark green . . . herbs, or something, in them."

He took a closer look at the victims' faces. "Those scars . . . oh my, there can be no mistaking, they're real."

As he stepped back, he noticed a dumbwaiter he'd forgotten about. "It's possible that our murderer - or murderers - used the dumbwaiter in here, which connects to the master bedroom, for quick access between floors."

After he'd had some chance to think a bit more, he returned to the others. He addressed James with a look of pity as he mused, "S-So Vincent was doomed then. Our lynch earlier was as good as a waste, and you knew that perfectly well. If you were really trying to help us find the witches, I'd hope you would've told us about Vincent's imminent fate so we could at least go after someone else!"

Zachary sighed, "The Golden Land is too good for you. I believe you should stay here and suffer for a very long time." He turned to the others, "But then . . . what do we do now?"

"Well if we're not lynching *him*, then that only leaves two others with unconfirmed roles..." Maurice glanced towards Twilip and Allister. "My own sister and a child... come to think of it, you both were on the scene before we were, which strikes me as quite suspicious. Anything you both have to say?"

"By the way, on an unrelated note, did you receive any visitors tonight, Bertram?" He asked offhandedly.
