All three for me. Loved them all but the novel was my favorite of the three. Movie was good and the manga had a bit too much sex for my taste.

The book was awesome! The movie was kinda dissappointing after reading the book, but still amusing. Watching it with friends was really fun (as they were kinda cynical watching 'one of the those vague Japanese movies'), and they loved it XD

Let's not talk about BRII though. Bleh.

Wow Battle Royale is one of my favourite movies ever! I'll say it is an acquired taste, but it's worth at least one viewing! It was also the first ever foreign film I ever bought!

Hmmm...I'd love to watch the film or read the book/manga...the premise intrigues me a lot. But I don't know where I could get them, too bad ...

At a book store. It's actually fairly common, I'd assume that any book store in your town would have it. Eh? Although, my copy was from France and I'm just taking quite a few peoples word for the common thing.

I live in Italy, which is not the most advanced conry in the world regarding Japanese animation, books and mangas. Not only that, I live in a pretty much conservative city (to be more exact, in the suburbs) and currently I can't order online.

Whoooooo.

I've read the book, seen both films, and read the manga.

I honestly don't see what's so special about it. Uh oh, the Japanese public school system is a killer.

... So?

BUT MAN LOOK HOW SHOCKING IT IS IT'S VERY METAPHORICAL AND ALLEGORICAL AND ALL SORTS OF OTHER THINGS

Not really. Even the overall plot doesn't leave a whole lot. It's not a big deal.

Maybe I'm jaded and cynical, but I thought all of it was funny - most of all the idea that people would take it seriously.

Best use of the film: playing it on mute and overdubbing it with your friends.

Really? 42 students, sent to island, kill each other- basically Lord of the Flies meets The Running Man with an extreme focus on ethics, Japanese politics, and character development. It's pretty sorta kinda rather well-known. Yuusaku

(Casino Royale kicked ass).

Lord of the Flies? The running man? Eh?

Sorry, but animes arn't aired here, so I have no idea what you are talking about.

I have no idea what it is, how should I know Yanni Yogi

There arn't anywhere that sells mangas either. At least, I've seen a few DBZ ones... but really. Those you AVOID.

Only 3 animes I have ever seen aired: Pokemon, Digimon and DBZ.

The last two, one I followed the other which was at least interesting, but canceled, and DBZ which sucks.

Then came Toonami, and there were a few cartoons that were semi-animish. Like Beyblade. But that one was thrown out of the cycle as well.

Now I've basicly stopped watching television.

Dragon Ball Z does not suck. YOU suck for not knowing Lord of the Flies is a manga when it's a freaking BOOK.

Goddamn, man.

No, Lord of the Flies is a book, The Running Man was a book and movie. You haven't heard of them? (I basically meant the concept of Battle Royale bears similarities to both titles combined).

EDIT: And yeah, Dragonball Z sucks.

no, havn't heard of them.

I don't know much about the entire anime/mange/whatever genre besides what I hear about on the internet, and I can't go arround reading entire libraries for references (except the bookshelf with Fantasy :P). Basicly, if they arn't translated to danish I'm pretty screwed. Because there just isn't much english work here, and there ISN'T mangas. Sure, some people might actually like the two-three DBZ mangas that can be bought, but that isn't really much more than mare comic books, like Donald Duck or something. And sure, people know about pokemon, but that show is for children and you get LAUGHED at if you say you actually like it.

I have only heard (and that but barely) about such things as Naruto, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Wing, Evangelion and Adult Swim, whatever that is. And even if I do decide to watch episodes on you-tube or whatever, there really isn't anyone arround me that has any similar interests. And Goten X, crawl back into the hole you came from.

Sorry to have drawn this off-topic with my rantings.

Oh, no, you misunderstood me (or maybe I misunderstood you). Lord of the Flies is an English book from, I don't know, the 1920's and The Running Man was written by Stephen King, they're not anime/manga related.

Oh.

I've read one Stephen King, that was enough. Gregory

If this Battle Royal reminds you of a Stephen King book, then I'm staying clear of it at any rate Dr? Hotti

It was really more of the concept, but yeah, I'm no fan of Stephen King either. Payne

I've read the novel and watched both movies, and read a bit of the manga. The first movie was alright, and I thought the manga and the second movie were both pretty crappy, but the novel totally rocks my face off. 8DDDDD <333

I've seen every iteration of it... And I enjoy them all for the most part. Though Sugimura's acting in the first movie WAS horrendous.

And... Apparently, the World Wrestling whatever-they're-calling-themselves-these-days is making a movie with Stone Cold Steve Austin... With a really familiar sounding plot. Ten convicts are sent to a deserted island, where they have three hours to kill each other or they all die. Last one alive gets off the island. Hmm...

The concept's been around since The Most Dangerous Game, which was like, 1920. Hell, it might've been done before that.

Whatever the case, the concept was nowhere near new when battle Royale came out. It just took a twist on the formula.
