I wouldn't be surprised if different people pronounce names differently. After all, I don't think there is an "official" pronunciation (correct me if I'm wrong).

Heh, no that's a nickname I've started to use for her sometimes :3 I pronounce Maya Mah-yah (the Japanese way xD) and Mia Me-ah. Mia's a common name here so I'm so used to pronouncing it as Me-ah.

- My-uh. - Me-uh.Oh, and something else funny. For a few days after I got T&T, I kept reading Dahlia's name really, really fast, and pronounced it "Dahila." When I realized it was Dahlia, I felt so stupid. It was a face-palm moment, that's for sure.
And yet another one! Before my mom finally got so pissed at me and my sis for prouncing Godot's name wrong, we kept saying "Go-dot." Then one day she burst out, "It's 'Guh-doh,' guys. There was a play called 'Waiting for Godot.' Please, stop saying 'Go-dot.'"

On a slightly related note, I'm pretty sure I'm pronouncing Klavier wrong in my head. (not to mention I have no idea how to pronounce words like "achtung"...) And I pronounce Godot "goh-doh" as opposed to "guh-doh", so I'm not sure which one's right. I don't even know if I pronounce "Dahlia" right - I've never said it out loud!

I was talking to my friend about it, and she got mad at me because she says My-ah.
The reason I say it that way is because I read it like, grammatically, I guess. I made the 'A' a long sound because of the 'A' after the 'Y'

Professional German speaker to the rescue!
Achtung (Which means "attention," or "watch out"), is pronounced... Damn, how can I explain the 'acht' sound to y'all? It really only makes sense if you know Hebrew or German (Both of which I know). It's basically an ah sound with a throaty ch after it. End with "tung" (Try not to go too hard on the g, though), and you've got Achtung! Ach-tung!
Oh, wait, I just found a really great site on German pronounciation! Here's their take on the ch sound.
1. "Ch" following the sounds "a", "o", "u", or the diphthong "au."
The Scots (And the Jews! Don't forget us!) are at a distinct advantage here however, as the sound required is the one heard in "Loch Ness". Or imagine the rasping guttural sound made in the back of your throat before you spit!

Now, on to Kalvier. Klavier literally means "piano" in German. No, I kid you not, although sometimes I wish I did. The pronounciation is relatively simple. Kla (As in the beginning of the word "clap.") - vier (like "fear" but with a v!) Simple, ja?
