Adrian did so in Celeste's memory, but for her own satisfaction. She was so badly hurt by Celeste's death that she tried to kill herself. There is nothing more that can be done for Celeste and she wasn't doing it for Celeste's sake but for her own satisfaction of making Matt pay for what he had done. Describe it anyway you like but her reasoning was still self-serving. She had no idea that Matt was the killer although she thought it was a possibility. She states that her reason was to exact her own revenge for what he had done and she admits that as far as she knew, he had been sleeping and had no evidence to support that he was a killer besides a slim possibility in her mind. She set him up for very personal reasons.

Why would he confess to Thalassa's death? Besides, who knows if he can even still be punished for the framing or killing anymore. If murder has a fifteen year statue of limitations, what is the chance that the forging statue of limitations extends over seven years? It's been even longer since Thalassa's "death" (and I would like to believe that Phoenix or Thalassa would step in when they heard. I can't be sure about Thalassa, but I don't see Phoenix allowing Valant to be punished for a murder that never happened. They wouldn't even have to reveal that she was alive to the world, just to the police and this could easily be kept under wraps). Besides, even with his confession, it can't be proven that his bullet took her life and that is a problem. If his bullet didn't kill her, then he's not responsible. As I said before, they also might be willing to make a deal with Valant for his confession if he bothers to confess to this crime as well or it may even be too later as this was clearly accidental (and the law does take that into account).

But... there is no body to prove it and never was. Thalassa's wounds would have healed by now and since she's not dead and the police were never informed, there would be no record of the wound or the bullet that hit her. Therefore, there is no way to prove anything on that front. Besides, as I said, I can't see Phoenix allowing Valant to be convicted for a murder that never happened. So at worst, Valant pays for the forgery if the statue of limitations isn't up.

It doesn't matter of the wounds. A bullet will leave a scar. IF there's the off-chance that it is only on one side of her, it'll be easy to determine who was where.

And it also doesn't matter if there's a body or not. She is legally deceased. HE and ZAK shot her. Those are 2 undeniable facts, after 7 years.

And finally, why on earth would Phoenix have any impact on the trial? He wouldn't be the attorney for Valant. Valant would confess out of guilt.

The "Magnifi Murder" could simply lay down and rest, but Valant is confessing his crimes in it, out of GUILT. You think he wouldn't confess to the shooting of Thalessa as well? Even if her body is never found, if someone kills someone and hides the body, and THEN they confess to their crimes, it won't matter if the body isn't found! THEY KILLED THEM! A confession is a substitute for decisive evidence... I mean, otherwise, Daryan wouldn't be convicted of anything!

This conversation has moved into a strange area and we are so very off topic now. We'll simply have to see if Valant makes an appearance or not when the game finally comes out.

My response though
Spoiler: 4-4
First off, it's Valant who first wonders if she's even dead, so I'm still not convinced that he'd confess to her murder. He doesn't know who's bullet hit her and that is a fact, so with just that, there is no way to prove that he "killed" Thalassa. His confession wouldn't be enough because "I may have killed her" is not decisive testimony. Valant cannot testify truthfully that he knows his bullet killed her because he simply doesn't know anything of the sort. He doesn't even have proof that she is dead without a body. A body is rather important in proving that a murder even occurred and they don't have one. Right now all they have is flimsy testimony about an accident on stage and a disappearing woman. He never saw the body and he has no idea whose bullet hit her. There is nothing decisive in his testimony nor any confession he could give. Also, being shot doesn't automatically leave scars and even that would only prove that she had been shot (which we know), but not who shot her. Unless she kept the bullet, there is no evidence that could prove Valant's bullet hit her. Phoenix doesn't have to be the defense to hear about this (a famous and mysterious case like this one would get a lot of press) and to know that it was a sham. Thalassa's not dead and he knows it. All he has to do is tell the police this. At no point does he need to be involved in the defense. All he has to do is make sure justice is served by telling the truth and he wouldn't even have to reveal to the world that she was alive if he did so behind closed doors with the police. Besides, considering Valant is important to Trucy, you don't think he'd check in on Valant to make sure he's okay for Trucy's sake? He finds out that Valant confessed to a murder he didn't commit and deals with the mistake.


No more of this now. We are completely off topic by this point.

Speaking of Kristoph, I want him back. He doesn't have to be a murderer. I'd just be happy if he were, like... Polly's Hannibal Lecter Buddy, to borrow a phrase from Croik. I find him much more entertaining in investigation stages than he actually was in court, so |D

Vera would be nice to have back. I wouldn't mind if she wound up being a major-ish character, because I kind of love her |D and i wouldn't mind some more subtext for Apollo/Vera cough

Truly felt sorry for him when he said he was going to turn himself in for what he planned on doing to Zak and Magnifi. Honestly, he's not a bad person, and he really suffered throughout those long 7 years. Not only is his troop disbanded, but he's had to live with that guilt, along with the fact he might have been responsible for Thalassa's death. I was relieved, however, to see that he was not. Poor Valant. :larry:

Thalassa is a given. It's pretty weird in either a video game for the mother to be alive, and not the father. Makes me wonder who Apollo's father really was, though, as they didn't mention his name or background.

Maya, Pearls and Gumshoe and MAAAAYBE Larry and Edgworth. I mean Maya and Pearls kinda make the most sense, they were a big part of Phoenix's life, why wouldn't they show up in some role? I am not saying in a huge role or anything that like, but as witnesses or cameos for a case. Gumshoe would be nice for a case cameo, maybe he gets caught up in a crime and is a suspect and you defend him or something lol. I have no idea how they would do Larry or Edgeworth at the moment. Valent should be back in some form. The Gramaryes are the Feys in this game now.

Valant turned himself in because he allowed temptation to get the best of him and he tampered with the crime scene. After seven long years, he realized the folly of his work when he read Zak's letter of confession. In a way, he was to blame for all the trouble. He created unecessary strain in the group - not like it wasn't there to begin with - and guilty eventually overcame him. It wasn't until seven years later when he finally realized the foolishness of his greed. As a result, he turned himself in because he couldn't live with the guilt. He didn't kill anyone, he just messed around with the scene of the crime. He may get a short sentence like Adrian but he's served his purpose as a plot device. Plus, he's one of the more interesting Gramaryes in my opinion.

Geez, the Gramaryes sure are an interesting bunch.

Personally? I'd see the Gramarye's on TV, if they were on... They sound like they are indeed, interesting!

In fact, In GS5, I'd like to maybe see a "video" showing their famous "Zak and Valant Quick-Draw Shoot'em"

God, I know. I think Valant was one of the most tragic characters in that case, and I almost cried whenever he went off to do that- considering how hard it is to get me to bawww over a video game.

While I can't condone his actions, I can certainly see why he'd do it- after all, Zak was more talented than him, Zak married the woman that- well, according to Brushel and the GS4 databook- he was in love with, Zak might've been responsible for Thalassa's death... Jealousy is a real bitch, you know?

Since this is strictly limited to the AJ story arc and its characters, I would love to see Machi again! He's too cute. :edgy:

That being said, it seems as though
Spoiler: 4-4 (Major Spoilers)
Thalassa will become a victim sometime in the upcoming games--moreso than she already has been, anyhow. I mean, she's the mother of Apollo AND Trucy, a pivotal figure from a previous case, and--dare I say it?--a possible love interest for Phoenix. What better way to leave an emotional impact than to kill off such an important figure?


And much to my chagrin, I'm sure that Spark Brushel will be back. Pity. He's terribly, terribly annoying.

You've made a good point, but I doubt 7 years would be all he'd get. Murder is still murder, unfortunately, and it's not one of the lighter crimes to be convicted of.

With the ace-attorney's harsh punishment system, I'm having an incredibly hard time seeing only 7 years. I'm merely trying to be realistic. I mean, I'd love to see Godot again, I just don't think it's going to happen, sadly. :beef:

I would hope to see something like JFA. So a new prosecutor is present, but at the same time, Klavier also has significance and at least one case.

Not counting the core group, these are the people I'd like to appear.

:draw: She's the character I most want to return. There is still much of her backstory to discover and also to see how she is doing after her trial. I always thought a neat way to make her a series regular would be to have her become a courtroom artist. (FYI for those who don't know, a courtroom artist is someone who draws pictures of court proceedings in high profile cases when cameras are not allowed.)

:gipsy: For obvious reasons, plus she's an interesting characer.

:varanbaran: There is still a lot of room for development for him, not to mention his connections to other characters need to be explored.

:gambler: I could definitely see her getting mixed up in future cases.

As for AA 1-3 characters... :franny: :pearl: :gumshoe: :lana: :will: :shoe:

Godot. Even though I believe he died after T&T/beginning of his sentence. No, not due to the Death Penalty (C'mon, if people got it for a defend-motive they should have let themselves/the person they were protecting die in the first place.), but probably complications due to the poison still being in his system, (Remember, Kristoph (I think?) said nobody ever recovered from Atroquinine poisoning, and it seemed that may have been the same kind of poison used on Diego - severe nerve damage and all) or, like, an untreated infection in the gash Dahlia gave him.

But maybe I'm just saying that because I want him to go and have ghostsex and star-babies.

Though if Phoenix has Maya call Mia for help, it'd be hilarious if Diego showed up instead due to the two being so...close...in the spirit world at the time. XD I'm insaaaane.

We need in one case the defense attorney defending a prosecutor. I love those cases cause the prosecutors are all twitchy when they're the defendant.

Well i'd expect the main characters from the previous AJ game which were of course Apollo, Trucy, Phoenix, Ema.

Like all previous AA games there has to be a new prosecutor but i will expect to see Klavier as a prosecutor for 1 case but that might be unlikely, but there could be a recurring prosecutor instead of a new prosecutor so you could see an older Edgeworth or an older Franziska and i feel that will happen in GS5 but i might be totally wrong.

There would be no reason to leave Thalassa out of this one it will either be a few appearances or she could play a major part in a couple of cases either way i can't see her avoiding GS5


Of course there will be quite alot of new characters but there will have to be an appearance from characters from the previous games and so i'm going to do a Smile Predict List from Of course to Unlikey (if i haven't put any of the characters on the list i have ruled them out.) Heres my opinion:
