I've created a wiki for keeping up with these casemakers, as well as so people can view features and find out about them themself.

http://casemakers.wiki-site.com/
I plan to move to a paid host in a couple of weeks if it seems it's being used enough.

This site has now been moved to a paid host. The new URL is http://www.gyakutenwiki.net/, please update your bookmarks. And since it costs money to run, please disable your adblockers (or set GyakutenWiki as an exception)!!! Even better if you can click on an ad once every few days or so, but just disabling your blockers is better than nothing.
Also, it is now a FAN PROJECT wiki, which means other stuff(for example, NickRoll) is welcome to have articles made about too, not just casemakers and fangames.

I'm not that good at writing articles, but you're all free to make them. ^^
Of course, it's not limited to articles about the makers themself. Tutorials for the makers, comparisons, fangames made using them...
I guess it can also be expanded to include tutorials and reviews of using other game making programs for fangames, as long as they're relating to making fangames with them and not just about the programs in general.

UPDATE: GyakutenWiki now has forums for discussion of fangames/casemakers. (If there's enough demand, I may add sections for other fan projects too). Not meant to compete with these forums, but rather to provide a place for more in depth discussion of specific games and makers, rather than clumping them all into one section.
http://www.gyakutenwiki.net/forums/

NOTICE: Adblockers MUST be disabled when viewing the site. Violators will be denied access AND rickrolled.

Now just need to take time and fill the main areas of the wiki.

You should include CM and CM2 for historic reasons.

Also, the wiki should be only for those casemakers released-announced on CR. If other casemaker authors want their area on the wiki, let them go to CR and announce it. :zenitora:

If they want their casemaker on the wiki, they're more than welcome to make an article about it, whether it's announced on CR or not.

Which also applies to the one you mentioned, Addikt.
At this stage, the main page isn't protected, so feel free to add a link.

I may protect it at a later date, not sure yet.

omg, awesome. haha
the article on CourtEngine, as small as it is, hit the nail right on the head, haha. Couldn't have worded it better myself :)

How would the possibility of Developer Profile pages be to everyone? Much like looking anyone up on Wikipedia, see a pic on the top right, some vital stats undernethe the pic, and some information about the author on the left cascading down the page. hehe.

I also demand this be stickied! :godot: :damon:

Hm...
I don't really think it's nessecary, so for now I'll say no to that (however, feel free to use your userpage to make such a thing - and if you do so, feel free to put a link to your userpage on the articles of your projects), but if you guys seem to think otherwise, I'm open to changing that rule.

Im just coming up with ideas on how to fill the wiki with information. barebones wikis just feel empty. I think a little "get to know the author" would be great. Not everyone would want to do it i understand, but i know id be fully willing to.

Ill make an example article to show what i mean (eventually sometime today) and ill present the link and see if its going to be something that will be frowned or smiled upon, yay or nay so to speak.

Alright, but, keep this only for developers of case makers. Fangame developers who haven't made casemakers (I may change this later on for notable fangames), even if you have articles about your fangame, please use your userpage for articles about yourself.

So. Will this also have fangame articles? Or do I have to make a casemaker just to have a fangame article listed? :P

im going to leave this decision directly to Lee Ji Hoon, but i beleive the Wiki was developed to give the Casemakers, and not just Casemaker3 their spotlight for attention.

if the Fangames are to be listed, and dont quote me on this, but if i have the right impression, the Fangames would probably be listed on the same page as the Casemaker program was used to develop the production. And from there each Fangame could have their own Article or be a direct link to the download or offsite page or something.

This theory leaves a giant grey area and why im not saying much besides hypothetical, if a fangame was not made with a casemaker present. However that doesn't mean there couldn't be an article for Fangames made from scratch, or under one of Main Developer Tools. Like "Adobe Flash" having its own section, and people who animated theirs by hand would list their games under that. Etc etc etc vice versa blah blah and all that noise.

Again, i leave it to lee. heh. It sounds like from Lees posts that Fangames are ok, im just trying to think of a way to present them.

Articles on fangames are acceptable whether you've made a case maker or not.
Articles on developers are, at least for now, only acceptable for developers of case makers, not for developers of fangames.

In short: If you're making a fangame but not a case maker, you may create an article about your game(and sub-articles about characters, cases, etc), but not about yourself as a developer. If you're making a case maker, you may make an article about yourself as a developer.
However, in either case, you may create (and link to) an article about yourself on your userpage.

Also, I would prefer if you don't just create an article for your game as soon as you get an idea. At the very least, wait until you've started on development or detailed planning.

(To be honest though, I would prefer if any case maker developers who register there also use their userpage... but what do you guys think?)

As for the above post: It's more to do with information than spotlight. So that people can see details about, and compare the casemakers, as well as the games/cases made with them (and other programs).

i just quickly threw together the biggest article so far, for Adobe Flash. i tried to provide as much accurate information as possible, mostly based on memory however.

Also i was unaware that user profiles could act just like a Wiki article, those should work swimmingly. So i went ahead and linked my name to my profile where applicable

When I edit an article all formattings are lost and appear as text instead. Why is that?

I had something of the same issue, except it was jsut randfomly adding line breaks inbetween my sentences. I think this wiki editor is a little buggy, i tend to go to the Wikitext and edit there, as it seems to work all the time.

I don't know how to disable it entirely or change default settings, though.

Hm... as soon as the first of the new casemakers comes out, there's probably going to be a flood of fangames, which would probably clutter up the main page.
Thus, I've created a "List of Fangames" page and linked to it on the main page.

How do you guys like this idea?

Soo let me get this correct,

real projects using my engine arent allowed to be listed, simply because they dont contain interactive investigation sequences and presenting evidence?

That sounds just wrong to me >_>
Fangame or Fanmovie, it shouldn't matter. What does matter is the quality behind it and the amount of work that goes into the production.

not to be rude, and not that i have anything to add as an article to those projects (in their current state anyways) right now, but i still think that if enough time/effort was devoted to a project, it can deserve an article, especially if it utilizes one of the engines.

If its a frilly little animation like Boot to the Head or Phoenix Wrong's or anything else as minor as that, then ya i wouldn't propose an article at all. But entire scenarios i think can still deserve some attention under the engine the scenario was designed for.

besides, its not like the article is going to take up alot of harddrive space. or be shoved in anyones face like an Ad :p

I dont really care if it was made in CE or not, if they made a Fanfic in PWlib id still fight for that projects right to be listed.

Hm, what do other people think about this?

It's really just a question of where to draw the line. Add this in, and next we'll have people wanting to create pages for regular(non-animated) fanfics as well... and so on...
So we need to decide an exact point to draw the line at.

What do others think?

well nonono, the original point of the Wiki idea was to provide information on the Casemakers themselves, and the projects the engine governs. Thats all. And thats all im requesting.

Fair enough...

Rather than just fangames, as of now, articles may be made for any PW-related project created using the casemakers, or in a generic game making program with output similar to what a casemaker would produce. However, things such as sprite comics, animations, fanfics and the like will _not_ be accepted.

Thank you :) Sorry for such the offensive, but if that point were not driven home, it would have been a serious discouragement to anyone even thinking of using CE for anything serious. I appreciate your understanding.

Please don't upload images until you're going to use them.

Apart from that, you're welcome to add some, but don't go overboard. Maybe two or three for a fangame main page, and one for a character or case subpage?
Casemakers, try to limit the amount you use, but obviously the limit needs to be higher in your case.

I'm not exactly sure what the upload limit is on here, so that's why I'm setting these kinds of limits. If I find out what it is, I can be more specific.

I mentioned that a table should be made of all of the current casemakers and their capabilities for side-by-side comparison, but unfortunately the most advanced I can get with wiki formatting is ''this'', so if anyone knows how to make one I'm sure we'd all be much obliged.

Also, is the wiki just for casemakers and fangames, or will it be expanded to list other resources (sprite editors, music editors, etc)?

As you may or may not know already, I'm making an Ace Attorney fighting game using Macromedia Flash. I'm currently making a demo version of it and it should be out before summer. The development of the actual game will take longer though. Just for the record, is it ok if I make a wiki page for the game?
