Yes, you heard right. There are two very important announcements that have been brought to my attention today!

First off, Darkrai's Release Date has been confirmed to be May 31-June 1st Set your calenders, ladies and gentlemen!

Second, The third game of the fourth generation has been announced: Pokemon Platinum.

Neither of these links are rickrolls. I base my integrity as an informer on it:

Darkrai Confirmed

Pokemon Platinum's Serebii page

Please oh please discuss these awesome pieces of information!

Pokémon Platinum will feature much of the same content and features as Diamond & Pearl including WiFi, Pal Park Migration and Sinnoh in all its glory. However, on top of everything familiar, there will be loads of new features

Like, say, one different gym leader and one easier-to-get legendary?

..and the return of the battle frontier in the shape of an area called "Battle Island", which is a different island than the huge island in D/P

Ah, yes, because they obviously just forgot about that in the first two games.

(Don't mind me, I'm just poking the franchise a little.)

platinum was announced, not released.

also, the only things confirmed about platinum is that it has giratina's origin form and an alt costume for the male character; presumably the female too. everything else was rumormongering by that japanese blog.

Curse you Darkrai!!! I don't have a Toys-R-Us near me!!! D: Maybe someone I know will get to go and at least trade it back and forth with me so I can get it's page in the pokedex. *sobs*

I am so happy to find out that we're getting Darkrai's event item instead of just Darkrai itself! 8D 8D 8D

You know, I'm curious if that item can be traded with a Pokemon like balls and berries and items and stuff. Probably not. :(

But I already own a Darkrai...Does anyone here want an extra Darkrai? Or maybe an Arceus? This is not a joke. Oh, and Platinum will be awesome. I love Giratina...And extra Wi-Fi sounds nice.

And to answer Dullahan's question, you can not trade the Membership Pass on a pokemon. I misread the question the first time...

@Game Over: How did you get them in the first place??? You lucky dog! The only rares I got from the current gen. is a Manaphy and an infinite supply of Phiones and Spiritombs. Spiritombs are actually great in the trading place. I got me a Deoxys and a Jirachi, just for a newly hatched Spiritomb. :3

Lets see... My younger brother had bought an Action Replay so one day he found the event item codes and caught all of them Semi-Legal. After that he gave them to me and caught Shiny versions of them using the abnormally long Shiny cheat...So basically I have an infinite supply of any pokemon...They do not harm your game in anyway. So basically I got them by my cheating little brother. :hotti:

Meh. I never use an Action Replay or any cheating device of the sort. Takes the sport out of actually working hard to get it. Like how I am still trying to get Ho-Oh in Pokemon Colosseum, but until I find my GCN Memory card, it's not going to happen. In fact, the only ARed pokemon I have in my possession is a Celebi and that's because I didn't know it until after I traded and did research on it.

I kinda expected that. Most people do not use a Action Replay for their games. I use them after I beat my game to see what I can do with it. For D/P my brother uses it to get any pokemon he wants and then puts them up on the Global trading center and watches how fast they vanish. I will not question anyone's moral standing on cheating devices.

Can we go back to talking about Platinum version and the legal release of Darkrai in america?

I wonder about something... I got all excited about the mention of the Inn Key, but... is Joystiq actually reliable enough for us to believe that, or is it mentioned somewhere official that I haven't seen? Because I want to know where they got that from.

I heard about the Pokemon Platnium. Still, I was hoping Arceus would get on the front, ah well.
I refuse to use AR either, my friends did and they found that they couldn't trade with me at all. I think the only form of any sort of AR is a Phione my friend gave me which I think came from an AR'd Shiny Manaphy.

no, you're right. the method in which you get darkrai has not been confirmed. i will say, though, that when manaphy was distributed at tru, it actually was its event (where you talk to someone in a building and they give you a manaphy). hopefully that bodes well for the darkrai download actually being an event, not just a distribution.

Yeah, but I'm still worried because Mew had an event in Emerald, and we just got the Pokemon instead of the event item, and then Japan did the same thing with Darkrai... although that Darkrai had abnormal moves... but then, we don't have evidence that this one won't... except they'd probably say if it did, right? The only moves they mention on pokemon.com are Dark Void and Dark Pulse.

Wow, you lucky Americans! I actually bought an Action Replay to get that and Shaymin, only to discover that it wouldn't work because I imported Diamond from America and the Action Replay was European. Eh, maybe someone will trade me, just so I can get the data. I want a Shaymin more, though. They're adorable.

I got my Manaphy from Pokemon Ranger. I like it much better than my Phione.

My Manaphy isn't action replayed either. One of my friends on here had actually gotten two Manaphy's from the event that Toys-R-Us had and was really nice to give me one of them and I'm really thankful for that and quite lucky. Now I can mass produce Phiones! lol. I still find it amusing though how Spiritombs fare so much better in the Global Trading center than Phiones.

I just got the Manaphy Code from pokemon.com... luckily, I didn't have to wait months for the European code because my aunt got Pokemon Ranger for me in America. That Manaphy Special Mission was tedious, though.

I'll be going to the Toys R Us event to get the Inn key. I went to the Toys R Us events for Animal Crossing Wild World to get Mario furniture and the Manaphy event. It's only a couple of miles from my house, so I'm definatly going.

My nephew already used the Action Replay code to get the Inn Key, and the Shaymin event too. I figured I'd wait for the real thing, so I passed up on cheating. Looks like I'll be bringing my cousin's copy of Pearl to get the key too.

I read about the Darkrai event from an article in Nintendo Power. My scanner isn't working at the moment, but here's what it says:

Events
Darkrai is Coming

To help celebrate the May 27th DVD release of Pokemon: The Rise of Darkrai, Toys "R" Us is hosting a special event for Pokemon fans. On Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1, between noon and 4pm, all Toys "R" Us stores in the United States will distribute the Pokemon Darkrai, the mysterious new Dark-type Pokemon appearing in the movie, to anyone who brings in his or her DS along with a Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl Game Card. (In order to add Darkrai to your copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, make sure you've obtained the Pokedex in your game.) On top of that, all DS games will be $5 off and the following GBA Pokemon titles will be 40% off: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, Pokemon Sapphire, and Pokemon Emerald.

God dammit Japan. Just when I get the itch to play again after having lost my copy of Diamond you pull this.

Now I can't decide if I should just wait for Platinum or replay Diamond on my flashcard. :(

Argh, I'll have to resort to buying an AR sometime if that literally means "distributing Darkrai"... I really want to do the events to get to these Pokemon; being handed them just isn't as much fun. D: But either way, I'm still going and getting a Darkrai, and hopefully meeting more Pokemon fans.

That's Darkrai in general, though. What I want is details about the particular ones that will be given out. The special Japan ones had Roar of Time and Spacial Rend, which Darkrai can't normally learn, so there was no way for those ones to be gotten to with the Inn Key. If our Darkrais were found to also have those moves, then that would prove that they're just handed to us, but if they just have their normal moves, then they could still be caught the way they're supposed to be. Of course, there hopefully still is hope because they haven't said Darkrai comes in a Cherish Ball like they said Manaphy did.

Well, whether it is a pokemon distribution or an item distribution is yet to be determined. Seeing as the Darkrai Movie is being released on DVD approximately the same day, it might be a pokemon distribution. It's basically a double-edged sword here. One the one hand, you get a Darkrai with Roar of Time and Spacial Rend, but it's automatic and you don't get the item to travel through the area where Darkrai can be caught. On the other hand, you get the Inn Coupon item, get the opportunity to catch a Darkrai, and make good sport out of the whole thing, though it won't know Roar of Time nor Spacial Rend.

Them's the breaks, yeah?

Yeah. I'm really hoping for the item, though, because being able to do the actual event is what I'd rather have... just being handed Darkrai instead would be like getting to a perceive moment in AJ, and then Apollo just calls out the nervous habit without giving you a chance to even do anything.

Ok, this may be a dumb question and kind of off, but I'm just curious if anyone has had to use a Master Ball yet in game. I've personally found all the legendaries to be kind of easy to catch with this generation. I mean the most I've had to use to catch a legendary so far for me is about 5-8 Ultra/Dusk balls. If they go through with the event, I wonder how easy Darkrai would be to capture.... I'm hoping more of a challenge.... still sucks I can't participate! *beats self with a stick*

I to found most of them very easy to catch, Regigigas was caught in about 3 ultra balls if I remember correctly. Giratina took about 30-40 balls though, and had killed itself about 3 times due to running out of pp for all its moves and using struggle. azelf the blue imp thing took ages as i got it down to 1hp and started chasing it around using quick balls, but after working out this wasn't working I ended up transfering my level 15 wobbufet to keep it in combat, which worked(suprisingly wobbufet could survive more than 1 hit). I couldn't be bothered with all that effort again so used the master ball on cresselia. Regarding whether we get the Darkrai event or the free Darkrai with unlearnable moves, I would rather have the event as I never use legendarys due to them being overpowered, and after looking at hos moveset and ability Darkrai is one of the best there is already, sorry for the long and most likely uninteresting point.

I've known about both of these, and am quite excited about them. I love how Nintendo is making legendary events much more accessible...

Yeah, it's great. I wonder if they'll have them in Europe any time soon.

I'm still curious if Nintendo is ever going to make use of the Wi-Fi Mystery Gift feature... :/

I used it on Mesprit because I really wanted a Modest one and didn't want to take forever just to catch it (because it could've taken forever already to get the right nature, though luckily it only took two tries... didn't take long to find Mesprit on either try, thanks to all my Entei and Raikou-chasing experience in Crystal... I never caught them because I always preferred to chase them, find them, and listen to the music). But I have an extra Master Ball, thanks to Emerald-cloning and Pal Park. :P

First off, De Killer approves of Emerald Cloning and Pal Park. That's the developer's fault and it is a legitimate glitch to exploit Take advantage of use.

Anyway, if anyone still has their Master Ball and doesn't have a multiple, I reccommend saving it for Aruceus (The event legendary after Shaymin. Thanks for the info, Serebii!)

For some reason though, I feel bad if I use my Master Ball. I mean, there's only one and I just feel it needs to stay with me as part of my collection. It's like the legendaries, I just have it to keep my inventory pretty.

I like to always have a Master Ball handy in case I run into a shiny that gives me trouble (haven't so far, but I'd love to catch a shiny legendary sometime).
