Well, there was an event at the Nintendo Store in New York City for the release of Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

And you got to have totally cool hats D:

Image

AND SEE THEM ALL WEARING HATS D:?

Image

Unfortunatly, I don't live in or near enough to NYC to actually ATTEND these events (actually, I live only a couple hours away, but I still can't drive by myself and my parents are not going to drive me there.)

But I really wish I could of gone D:

For the whole article on it , go to DS fanboy (aka CLICK HERE), or you can see it in the back (I believe the community section?) of a Nintendo Power that came out a couple of months ago.

Layton's Theme wins the world.

No, the universe. It just....there is seriously NOTHING more awesome than Layton's theme.

......Other than Layton himself, of course. C:

On another note, I really want to see Layton swordfighting. I nearly died when I saw it in the trailer for the second game. Is there anything Layton can't do? XD

Oh, Alkiline, that was already posted on here...

Now... for more Layton fanart....

Some really great avatars from Livejournal. They're awesome. Include some pictures from the third game, but no spoilers at all.

Spoiler: Fanart

Spoiler: Slightly/Moderatly disturbing for people who don't like blood or the idea of Layton going insane
Image
Hey, it made me laugh.

Spoiler: THIS IS MY HUNT FOR FANART XD. Probably PG-13 if your parents actually care about that kind of stuff. (Language, drug references.)
Image
I'm starting to feel this way XDDD

Spoiler: Professor Layton and the Temporarily Awesome.

Spoiler: Layton Icons

Spoiler: Seperated this one because I almost fell out of my chair laughing

Spoiler: This totally explains my experience with Professor Layton. With 100% accuracy

And in other news, I am slightly disturbed by this community (don't worry, the link itself worksafe, the rest of the community might not be, I haven't checked), that pairs Luke up with Layton.

.____.

Here's the Professor Layton community on Livejournal, though, which is where I got most of these.

Then when I saw it the second time, I was like "Oh, what the heck. SQUEE!"

...

:spit:

I have to buy this game. They better bring it stateside. Or else.

The sword fighting made me almost fall out of my chair (in awesomeness). The train station sent me back into some extremely uplifting nostalgia (as I lived in England and used to visit a train station exactly like that all the time). And it looks like they're going to be on a grand adventure!

And I love how they say Layton in Japanese. LAI-TOOOOOOHn!

Uuuuhh, I think they have to. Since it says in The Curious Village that you need a code to unlock the ultimate secret that can only be found in the sequel.

Also here's a video of the JAP trailer for The Devils Box with fake (but funny) subtitles

Basically has some screen shots and a breakdown of the game (Ex: How many puzzles, where the story takes place, how many picarats needed to access all the secrets, etc.)

And the last two pictures for the 2nd game are great.

*ugh can't wait come onnnnnnn*

Actually, I didn't really hear that all that much. But I don't watch anything Japanese (except the occasional anime since all my friends go to Anime Club and I have to stay somewhere after-school on some Wednesdays.)

And the sword fighting was quite awesome. That was just great. What will Layton do next? If he became some sort of ninja I wouldn't be surprised

Got the game two days ago, finally.

Beat it yesterday. Currently looking for the last couple of hidden puzzles.

The brainteasers are fun, of course, and form the meat of the game, but I think what I love the most about the game (the whole series I suppose) is just the general setting and style of it all. The word "charming" comes to mind whenever I think about it. The location, the character designs, the music...it really makes me wish that talented Japanese game designers would draw from traditional European style more often. I can't wait for the two sequels.

Also, I believe that Level 5 should contact Studio Ghibli and collaborate on an animated Layton movie. The awesomeness would be off the scales.

Was I the only one who was a bit sad at the ending? I don't know, the idea that they were all robots and whatnot was kind of sad, and when Flora's dad was talking to her...I don't know, I just felt a bit down afterwards. Maybe it was just me.

I hope the music in the second one is as good as the first :) I just sit and listen to them on repeat now that I can access them since I've finished the game.

Spoiler: More ending
"Sad" isn't really the word that I would use for any of the ending stuff. As far as the villagers go, there are enough hints scattered around that you figure out the "secret" of the village quite a bit before Layton spells it out directly, so you get some time to deal with that. I'm more curious as to how a single man managed to build so many robots with such sophisticated artificial intelligence. Then again, this is the same game that features a remote-controlled Ferris Wheel-o-Death and a hang-glider made out of curtain rods, so maybe I shouldn't be questioning things so much.

As for the baron, I dunno. If I had a daughter I don't think I would just leave her in the hands of someone that can solve puzzles. I also thought that his ending speech was a little more creepy than sad. "I bet that my daughter has become a young woman. Well, random stranger that found her, how does she look? Doesn't she look like a beautiful piece of jailbait?" Ultimately I thought the baron gave off this weird quasi-pedo vibe.

But maybe that's just me. :yogi:

And now it's time for...

SELF PROMOTION! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN.

I'm borrowing a tablet, and I got an account on Tegakie (my account is Addikt on there, same as here), so I'm going around and trying it out. I still suck, but hey, I'm getting better! I'm gonna have to buy one of my own soon, I don't think I can live without one!

WELL, LET'S BE SERIOUS...

Spoiler: HEY IT'S LAYTON. RICKROLLING YOU.

Spoiler: LAYTON <3

:P

I'm working! The second one took the whole day. I didn't WORK on it the whole day, but I did have it up on my computer the whole day. Lots of zooming in. But I did it, that's what counts. And whenever I would zoom out to the full picture, Quandtuniverse would fangirl over him(she was watching/talking to me when I worked on it. How nice of her ;).

D:

I've heard that the second game is not coming out until this December. I'm willing to wait that long for my beloved sequel, but I'm just wondering where it is on the priority list and if we actually have a chance of seeing the third (and final game) come stateside. We'll just have to wait and see- I'm really glad to see the Layton fandom growing, though, even though it IS a bit strange. Although I haven't found any forums on it yet (some general gaming websites have sections for this game, but there is no one forums that is dedicated to the Professor Layton series, like Court Records is dedicated to the Phoenix Wright series. Maybe we can pressure Croik into making a Professor Layton section... hee hee heeeeee.)

Although if any of you find an english fansite/forum, make sure to link it here! (I've seen a couple of Japanese ones, but, as an American, I do not understand any of them, and I defiantly could not participate on any of their forums.)

Anders, you phrased the game perfectly. Charming. It's just adorable. I loved the feeling I got from the game. And I think that if all the men in this world acted like Layton we wouldn't have any problems <3

Oh, and according to Wikipedia, there will be a live action movie on Professor Layton.

Wikipedia wrote:
A live action movie is going to be produced by Masakazu Kubo, who is mainly known for producing the Pokémon movies. The only information that has been released is that it will be an original story, separate from the game series.

And there is a manga out as well, although I doubt there are any scans, and if there are any, I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been translated. I haven't looked, though, so don't take my word for it.

I did! None of the hints helped me. I was stuck for ages. It seems really simple when you figure out the answer, but I just couldn't see it.

It wasn't nearly as bad as that stupid slide puzzle one in the regular game, though....*grumblegrumble*

Nice pictures there, Addikt. I really wish I could draw in some form at all, it just looks like a whole lot of fun.

Spoiler: ending
I never thought about it like that with the baron! It is kind of weird, now that you mention it... And no, I have absolutely no idea how that hang-glider worked (and how Layton managed to put it all together perfectly before the tower collapsed) either.
