That's hard to find. Except Singer to the Sea God. Good book, didn't sell well though, due to typos. So good luck finding it.

One Hundred Years of Solitude, that it's said to be one of the greatest books written in Spanish. The bad thing is that a lot of characters share the same name and therefore, some parts are confusing :meekins:.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is good for that. Start with the Colour of Magic, and see if you like it.

George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series is curiously devoid of romance (in every sense of the word). Stephen R Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever might fit the bill as well.

Anyone have a good Manga suggestion? I'm into shonen, horror, yakuza, and supernatural things. (Not WTF supernatural). Also I prefer no romance. Any help? I need something to hold my interest until they update the Gokusen Manga.

Pet Shop of Horrors.
Its got the horror, since its set in chinatown LA no yakuza but I think there was a few stories with mafia, and chalk full of supernatural.

Its about this creepy(yet awesome) underground petshop owner and his clients.

I always refused to read Death Note because everyone's all "ZOMG DEATH NOTE!!!"...well, I did pick it up yesterday. I love it so far and ordered the remaining 11 volumes. :edgy:

Other than that, I'm reading I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak again (my favorite book all the time!) , Glennkill (my mother gave it to me - I'm not sure I like it) and Eclipse.

Sorry guys, but the Twilight series piss me off to no end. I read them just to rant. I've heard so many people go "BEST BOOK EVAAAAAA" over Twilight, so I bought it. I read and hated. Edward annoyed me so badly with his perfect eyebrows (What the?!) and Bella with her clumsiness that gets mentioned about 20 times in the first book. Your irresistible, Bella, we know. +caughcaugh+ (Also, worst name pun ever, anyone? Bella Swan, I'm looking at you.)
The whole love story is pathetic - the only thing I liked was Jacob until he went all gaga.

Gah the Tintenwelt series disappointed me so much! D: I liked the first book alright but then it went down the drain. I didn't even finish the second one.
Meggie wins the prize for the most dislikable main character ever. One moment she acts like a pre-schooler, a few minutes later like a 40-year-old man. UGH. Hated her. And then her...thing with what's-his-name...Farid, I think? I wanted to hit Meggie in the face when she spoke to him in the second book.
....well, to be honest, I wanted to do that all the time.

"Stiff" by Mary Roach. I picked it up on a whim at Borders one day. It's about some of the various things that cadavers have been used for in the past. (Mostly scientific experiments.) I'm fascinated by weird topics like dead bodies, so I like it. (Though I wouldn't recommend it for someone with a weak stomach. The chapter on cannibalism is especially... well, you can imagine.)

I'm reading four books at the moment, including the one I've already mentioned, Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. That's just for school though, these books I'm reading 'cause I want to...

The Golden Compass- Phillip Pullman Pretty good. I was bored in a New York book shop, so I picked it up. Pretty similar to the movie so far.

Misery- Stephen King Heheh, awesome book. I love King. But, A LOT like the movie, which is rather astounding, because most of the book is the main character's thoughts, so kudos to the director of the Kathy Bates film.

A String of Pearls: A Romance (the original Sweeney Todd novel)- Author disputed Great. I looove Todd, loved the movie, loved the musical, but this is 120% different. The only similarity between the Sondheim and the original novel, are the characters (only some). And even then, most act and look differently. But, although seperate entities, they're both wonderful. :godot:
