No, it wasn't anything that serious. It's just that the company I work for is buying out another one, so there was a lot of paperwork to handle. When I showed up a few seconds late, the boss yelled at me, and when I told her I could get to work faster if she let me get to my cubicle, she yelled at me even more. I had to do about two hours of overtime each of the last few days. And we were so busy that our breaks were a lot stricter. Leave for a break a few seconds early and you get yelled at. Return from a break a few seconds late and you get yelled at. My ears are still ringing from how much I got yelled at.

"Not for that, no. When I was arrested for public drunkenness, I was allowed to call my boss to explain why I wouldn't be showing up for work. She decided to fire me for it. If there's something in the terms of my employment saying I can't be fired for that reason, you can bet I'll be suing, but the police refused to let me look at the papers."

"Order, order. Mr. Jett, I believe you're getting off-topic. Is there a reason why you're getting into the witness's personal life."

"Obviously," Sebastian reasoned with an amused smirk on his face, "Because he can't think of anything else to say." Fiddling with his black-rimmed glassed, Sebastian kept that smirk on his face as his continued, "So, Mr. Peters, IS there a reason we should be listening to this poor man talk about his rather...strict boss, or can me move along?"

Jett smiled.

"Mr. Hereford....were you fired before or after the murder?" Jett asked.

Jett started to look through his papers.

"Well..." Bobby paused to think. "The police didn't let me call my boss until around 7 AM, so I'm pretty sure I was fired after the murder. Why do you need to know that?"

"We went to a bar. I intended to only have a half-pint of ale, but..."

:holdit:

"When did you arrive at the bar and when you got there did you immediatly order a drink?" Jett said.

"Let's see..." Bobby grasped his chin with his right hand, trying to think. "I met Catherine at her cabana around 9:00 PM, and the bar was about a ten-minute walk, so we arrived at 9:10, give or take a few minutes. We both started drinking almost immediately."

Sebastian slammed his hand down on the prosecution desk. "Isn't it possible the witness and the victim brought their own beverages?" he asked, his black eyes narrow behind his frames. " Mr. Hereford and the victim were heavy drinkers. I wouldn't doubt the possession of alcohol beforehand!"

Shannon looked incredulous. Why are they arguing over this? Is this even that important? There's a bigger contradiction here, that's what they should focus on! She gave her best glare, hoping that it would intimidate the prosecutor and motivate the defense.

"From my understanding, a tab is simply when the victim started charging drinks to her credit card. That doesn't mean, Mr. Peters, that they started drinking when it was opened. Objection overruled."

"She gave me some money for a cab and told me to leave. I got picked up by the police a bit later."

:holdit:

"Got picked up by les agents de police.....didnt you take the cab?" Jett asked.

"So, you were arrested near her place. Well, that's what the police report said. Mr. Peters, do you have an objection?"

(It looks like the defense has disappeared. I'll be accepting applications for a new attorney. Please send me a PM, do not post in here. Thank you.)
