Oh! I have an idea kinda. Maybe he had his clock set to the wrong time, so he thinks he's late, but he's actually really early. ...Or if it's a digital clock maybe he knocks it over when he turns it off and reads it upside down, and because he's so tense he doesn't realize it. I don't know, it made sense in my head. xD

EDIT: And now for something... completely different

Our opening number will be titled "Chords of Steel" It'll just be people screaming vocal exercises for about 3 and a half minutes. The volume will shatter everyone's eardrums!!! Eh, ehhhh????? :apollo-shock:

So, I finally got around to recording Arri's new song, Reminiscence. The result is generally pleasing but slightly faulty with a chance of tired.

Reminiscence

You've all heard me sing plenty of times, so you don't necessarily need to critique or compliment... this was mainly to have a male demo.

A few suggestions though--I think you wrote the song for what you imagined to be low for a male, which was low for a female. However, that ended up being too high for the average male singer (and a little straining on my womanly voice), and an octave lower was very low and... painful. :P

Might I suggest transposing it up or down?

That was a great rendition there, although I really need to adjust the lyrics at some point to make it flow better. Very well done.

Well, I told Shink that everybody started talking about how the beginning would go.. and he told me I should post what he's written for the first Act. >_> Soo, its not a surprise anymore. XD He had an idea for the opening song here to sound somewhat like 'After Today' from the Goofy Movie. (By the way--it has been claimed :P)

Shink likes feedback, so let him know what you think.
Spoiler: Shink's idea for Act I

[OPEN TO VOICE-OVER HEAVY BREATHING. SOUND EFFECT: QUICKENED HEARTBEAT.]

VOICE-OVER
Argh! H-how did I get myself into this?!
Is ... is she still breathing?

[OMINOUS BG MUSIC IS HEARD AS A BACKLIGHT SLOWLY FADES IN TO REVEAL A SILLOUETTE OF FRANK SAHWIT. HE IS HOLDING A STATUE OF THE THINKER, DRIPPING WITH BLOOD. THROUGH THE DIM LIGHT A CRUMPLED FIGURE IS SEEN LYING ON THE FLOOR, BLOOD POOLING AROUND HER HEAD.]

FRANK SAHWIT
Oh, damn! Too much blood!
What do I do now?!
I can't get caught ... not like this!

[THE STATUE FALLS FROM FRANK'S HAND AND HIS BREATHING QUICKENS.]

FRANK SAHWIT
G-gotta get away from here!
I'm not going to jail! Not me! I-

[FRANK STOPS AND TAKES A DEEP BREATH.]

FRANK SAHWIT
I ... just need someone to pin this on.
Someone ... like HIM.
Y-yes, that's it, I'll make it look like he did it ...

[THE DIM LIGHT FADES OUT, AND THE OMINOUS MUSIC REACHES A CLIMAX AND ENDS. THE HEARTBEAT BLENDS WITH AND IS IN TIME WITH A STRANGE BUZZING SOUND, WHICH SLOWLY FADES IN AS THE HEARTBEAT FADES OUT. WHEN THE HEARTBEAT IS COMPLETELY GONE, LEAVING ONLY THE BUZZING SOUND, QUICK-CUT TO LIGHT FILTERING THROUGH THE BLINDS IN THE BEDROOM OF PHOENIX WRIGHT. THE BUZZING SOUND IS HIS ALARM CLOCK. HE WEARILY REACHES OUT FROM HIS BED TO HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.]

PHOENIX WRIGHT
[MUMBLING]
Only 9:20 ... can still hit the snooze button a couple more-

[PHOENIX SUDDENLY SNAPS AWAKE,SITTING UP AND STARING HARD AT THE ALARM CLOCK.]

PHOENIX WRIGHT
NINE ... TWENTY?!
H-HOW?! I thought I only hit the snooze button a couple times!

[HE JUMPS OUT OF BED AND BEGINS THROWING HIS TRADEMARK BLUE SUIT ON.]

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Less than a hour until the trial begins ...
Figures that on my first real case I'd do this!
Shouldn't have stayed up so late reviewing the case file!

[HE PULLS HIS PANTS PARTWAY ON AND AWKWARDLY HOPS TOWARDS THE DOOR, TRYING TO PULL THEM UP AT THE SAME TIME.]

PHOENIX WRIGHT
The chief's gonna kill me! I'm a disgrace to the Fey & Co. Law Firm!
HANG ON LARRY! I'M COMIN- OOF!

[HE TRIPS OVER HIS PANTS AND FALLS ON HIS FACE]

[QUICK CUT TO 10 MINUTES LATER, OUTSIDE PHOENIX'S APARTMENT BUILDING. THE MUSIC BEGINS TO PLAY FOR (THE UNWRITTEN OPENING NUMBER) AS PHOENIX- NOW READY FOR HIS APPEARANCE IN COURT- RUSHES FROM THE BUILDING AND MAKES HIS WAY TOWARDS THE COURTHOUSE.]

--SNIP--

Time for a note from me, your friendly neighborhood Skink. This "Unwritten Opening Number" I have here is a song that hasn't been written by anyone yet ... and may not be, I dunno. But I've felt for awhile that we need a good, upbeat opening number that serves as part exposition and part semi-introduction for some of the characters. Here's what I picture: Phoenix singing about how he's feeling a little nervous but determined... some stuff about Larry being falsely accused and how Phoenix will save him. The main theme of the song is something along the lines of pressing forward to meet life's challenges.

[AS THE SONG ENDS, PHOENIX BURSTS INTO COURTROOM LOBBY NO. 2, STARTLING MIA FEY, WHO HAS APPARENTLY BEEN WAITING FOR HIM.]

ON-SCREEN(OR NARRATED)
August 3, 9:47 AM
District Court
Defendant Lobby No. 2

MIA FEY
Phoenix! There you are!
Really, though! Less than 15 minutes before the trial starts?

PHOENIX WRIGHT
[SLIGHTY OUT-OF-BREATH]
Good morning, Chief.
S-sorry, I've been pretty nervous and it kept me up last night.
Sorry I'm running a little late.

MIA FEY
Hah, well I guess that's just you.
First you impress me by taking on a murder as your first case ...
Then you're almost late. Maybe I should be more worried?

PHOENIX WRIGHT
[SHEEPISH]
Mia! Ah, I mean Chief ...

MIA FEY
Calm down, I'm joking. You'll be fine.
And I AM impressed by you taking this case as your first.
Taking on a murder case right off the bat says a lot about you ...
and your client.

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Th-thanks, Chief.
But, you know, I kind of owe this client a favor.

MIA FEY
A favor ...?
Wait, you mean you KNOW this client?
This ... Harry, was it?

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Larry. Larry Butz.
And, yes, he's a very good friend.
In fact, you might say he's one of the reasons I became a lawyer.

MIA FEY
Oh? News to me.
You'll have to tell me that story sometime.
Anyway, sounds like your heart's in the right place.

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Yeah, I really want to help him, from the bottom of my heart.
Larry's a good guy, chief.
I don't care what the papers are saying about him.
I know for sure, he's not-

VOICE-OVER
GUILTY!

PHOENIX WRIGHT
-Guh?!

[LARRY BUTZ IS ESCORTED INTO THE LOBBY BY TWO BAILIFFS. HE IS CLEARLY UPSET, NEARLY HYSTERICAL]

LARRY BUTZ
I'M GUILTY, YOU GOT THAT?!
LIFE'S NOT WORTH LIVING, GIVE ME THE ELECTRIC CHAIR!

MIA FEY
Er, isn't that your client, now?

PHOENIX WRIGHT
... Ack! Yeah, but ...
Larry! Get ahold of yourself!
What's wrong with you?

LARRY BUTZ
What's WRONG with me?! What's WRONG?!
My life is OVER, man!
You're my lawyer, right?!
YOU tell 'em, Nick!
I'm guilty!
Give me the death sentence!

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Larry! Just calm down!
I know it wasn't you!
Why are you saying these things?!

LARRY BUTZ
[CALMING DOWN A LITTLE, BUT STILL DISTRAUGHT]
Aw, Nick!
Everything feels so empty without her!
I might as well die!
Ya ... ya gotta tell me, man ...
Who took my sweet Cindy away?
She ... she was my everything, Nick!

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Larry ... we can deal with finding the real killer later.
For now, we need to prove you're innocent!
Try to focus!

LARRY BUTZ
[SNIFFS AND TAKES A DEEP BREATH, THEN GIVES A SHAKY "THUMBS-UP"]
R-right! We can do it, man!
I'm counting on you in there!

MIA FEY
Quick recovery.
You both ready? We'd better get in there.

LARRY BUTZ
[NOTICING MIA]
Whoa! HOTCHA!
I'm ready whenever YOU are, Gorgeous!
Larry Butz, at your service!
Let's DO IT!

[LARRY HEADS TOWARDS THE COURTROOM ENTRANCE]

MIA FEY
... That's a bit too quick of a recovery.
Wasn't he just carrying on over the loss of his "Everything?"

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Ugh. Well, I said he was a good guy, I never said he was perfect.
In fact, back in school, we used to have a saying.
"When something smells, it's usually the Butz."

MIA FEY
Charming.
Well, this should be an interesting trial, to say the least.
Let's go, Wright.

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Yes, ma'am!
And, Chief... thanks for being here for me.

MIA FEY
Oh, I wouldn't miss THIS.
It's the first trial of my star pupil, after all.

PHOENIX WRIGHT
Right! Here I go!

Why am I posting this instead of my brother? ... ... ask him. I don't know. He's lazy? :P

She was posting it because we're having a BBQ, and I was helping set up the grill >:|

Quick disclaimer about what I've written so far: I'm not trying to take anyone's job, I don't have the time to help write the rest of the script. I'm writing the first case in the hopes that it will "kick-start" the writing process, which seems to have been stalled for some time. If you like it, awesome! Roll with it and write some more. If you don't like it, awesome! Write something that blows it out of the water. I do plan to finish up to the end of the first trial. Looking forward to what everyone thinks of my ideas :)

P.S. Thank you all for the condolences. The funeral's tomorrow.

EDIT: I have no idea why, but ff3girl cut out some of my notes about the unwritten opening number. Here's the complete notes:

Maybe someone could take my idea and roll with it :D Here's what I picture: Phoenix singing about how he's feeling a little nervous but determined... some stuff about Larry being falsely accused and how Phoenix will save him. During the scenes of him making his way to the courtroom, you can have him pass by, run into, or otherwise show various other characters(think Gumshoe, Cody, and other high-spirited characters) from the musical singing quick cameo one-or-two-liners about their own lives. The main theme of the song is something along the lines of pressing forward to meet life's challenges.

Here is a very good example of how the song should feel ... (no laughing now :P) "After Today," the opening number from Disney's "A Goofy Movie." If you've never had the chance to see it, here's a YouTube link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoIFa94fD3c

Imagine Max as Phoenix and the various highschool students/people with quick one-liners as various cast members from the musical. Also take away the highschool "last day before summer" theme and replace it with the "rushing forward to meet life's challenges" theme. Then take away Max's angsting over his lack of popularity and replace it with Phoenix's determination to save Larry and show his skill in court. Got it? Good. Now go write the song, you talented people :P

As much of a Goofy movie fangirl as I am, I can say with complete objectiveness that this seems like a good idea for a movie. It allows both the major, minor, and random appearances to have their own little part. It equalizes them all for the intro.

Chibiryu said she might be up to writing a song! Not sure about composing though.... I'll double-check with her.

And, just to say, I love The Goofy Movie! <3 I was just watching the second one with my sister the other day...

I really like that opening, Shink! It's really cool~ ^^ And I've heard good things about A Goofy Movie. ;3 No shame in liking things that are awesome.

Hmm, not a bad intro at all Shink. And definitely, the "After Today" idea is an excellent way to intro the show.

Also, no shame showing some love to the good parts of childhood, like good old Disney Movies, amongst other things.

Oops, sorry, Actorman :payne: I'll try to transpose it, but it might take some time. I can't access my friend's internet on my laptop, so I'll have to copy the file over to her computer and upload it from there or something. But thanks for recording it! Umm...but if I transpose it down, I probably won't be able to sing it, so do you think you'll be able to sing it without the vocal line? If that made sense.

Love the idea for Act I, and ack I have to go now. I'll try to post more later.

Hmm, I might have a go at lyrics for that opening song...

In other news, looking through old posts I found Tomorrow's Trial... can't believe I missed it, actually. It's sounding great! Though I expected the homages to be a little more obvious. Ah well, it's still seven different types of awesome (and channeling the spirit of One Day More, to boot).

I've got an MP3 of Actorman's original demo of Awakening. I already have some stuff worked out for the opening of that, actually. Wanna tag-team? :D

Now, drawn is something completely different.

I can't wait to see the Trial By Fire boards, though.

Sounds great! do you think you could email it to me? It's fullmetalninja_2500(at)yahoo(dot)com. And I actually posted an updated version of TbF up on youtube, but it was the post right before Actorman's post of Doom, so it was sort of overlooked... :yuusaku: Not trying to be mean or picky, though, Actorman had a really good point...

Can you use sendspace? I can upload it there. How about I PM that to you, and then we can bounce ideas off each other for Awakening? :D

Also, TbF = Win and magic and lots of it. :D

Thanks! And actually, I have no clue what sendspace is. :payne:

And Meems, I think someone else is doing it. I think. Sorry.

He had an idea for the opening song here to sound somewhat like 'After Today' from the Goofy Movie. (By the way--it has been claimed :P)

Can you handle us? So cool, baby, scandalous.

Yes, you're right Otakubox. Thanks for pointing out to others for me that the opening song had been claimed. ^_~ Good to know somebody remembers what I posted when I don't come online for a day or two!

We all went to our grandfather's memorial yesterday. We sang hymns, we cried, we watched our grandmother receive an American flag... it was very beautiful. Thanks to everyone here who gave us so many well-wishes and the like here. :-) Shink just flew back to Colorado this morning, and he told me he plans to keep working on the first Act of our script if nobody objects! :-) I'll still be here in California for a couple weeks, but I'll still be online some.

I had other ideas for fanarts today. Only two of them are about the first game.
Thanks to Don (some comment a while ago), I think I have to draw Will Powers as the Lion in the Wizard of Oz. And Dee Vasquez as Cyd Charisse in Singing in the rain would be nice too, I think.
About the other games: Franziska as Marlene Dietrich, and Diego as Luis Mariano.

BUT I'll only do them if you want me to, because it'll be a lot of work again :p *wants someone to beg her*

FF3Girl- Glad to know you and your family are doing okay. :3

Gar. :F
I've kind of abandoned the Pasta Shop storyboards.
I decided to give up on them becuase I hear some other people think it needs the Flash magic touch and I agree with you to be honest.

I really have no idea as to what I should storyboard.

Anyone have any preferences?

By the way, I'll credit the Musical on my pics, if that suits you. I'll do it with the last pics too.
