Wow another Scot on CR? Awesome

Anyway I'll be getting this game soon! Then I'll be able to kill puzzles with smoking logic! I gotta few pals who'd love it too.

http://www.omgnintendo.com/article/1052 ... 0-release/

Seriously? The games had awesome animated cutscenes, so, why not!

Anyway, according to my calculations, Pandora's Box should be out in the US in the next 3 months. Why? Well:

Firstly, "Reiton-kyōju to Fushigi na Machi", the JP version of "The Curious Village", was released on Febraury 15, 2007. Now, "Reiton-kyōju to Akuma no Hako", it's sequel, was released on November 29, 2007. That is, 9 months after the first game.

After the JP sequel, the first US game was released. "Professor Layton and The Curious Village" was released on Febraury 10, 2008. That is, 12 months after it's Japanese version and 3 months after it's Japanese sequel.
AND, recently, 3 days ago, we had "Reiton-kyōju to Saigo no Jikan Ryokō", or "The Last Time Travel", the end of the trilogy. That is, 9 months after "The Curious Village", US Layton 1. Here we see a "9, 3, 9 months" pattern. So, if we follow this pattern, we could think about a US release for both "Pandora's Box" and "The Last Time Travel". That is:

02/15/2007=JP Layton 1 released.
+9 months
11/29/2007=JP Layton 2 released.
+3 months
02/10/2008=US Layton 1 released.
+9 months
11/27/2008=JP Layton 3 released.
+3 months
02/??/2009=US Layton 2 released.

(+3 months
05/??/2009=US Layton 3 released.
or
+9 months
11/??/2009=US Layton 3 released.
Now, here, the most factible one is the +9 months one, since all Layton games have been released on Febraury and November.)

So, according to that, on the US, "Professor Layton and Pandora's Box" should be out around Febraury/March 2009, while "Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel" should be released on November/December 2009.

So, Layton fans, look forward to it!

Yes i know Luke is Layton's apprentice, but why the hell does he live with him? Is like an orphan or something?

Also, anyone know when the second game (Prof. Layton and the Pandora Box or something) is coming out? (the English version, i know all 3 are already out in Japan)

Um... As far as I know, there's no evidence that they live together. In the first game, they start out in the Laytonmobile, and end up in the Laytonmobile. There isn't a house they live in throughout the entire game. Yes, they reside in the hotel, but they don't live there.

Although, in medieval times, "Apprentices were young [...] and would live in the [master's] household." Now, I understand that Professor Layton isn't set in the Middle Ages, although I'm not sure it's set in the modern day, either. If they do live together, perhaps this fact influenced the developers?

But that's just my take on the situation. Maybe Luke is an orphan?

Actually they do live together. If you watch the credits, Layton, Luke and Flora are living together in one house........and Flora ruins the dishes.... :sadshoe:

I got this game for Christmas and I've completed the actual story. I still have some puzzles left to go, though.

The 'brother and sister' puzzle drove me mad. It shouldn't have done, either. I suppose once you aren't forced to study mathematics at school any more, your ability declines unless you opt to continue with it.

So, I got this game for Christmas because of the stuff I heard on here (same with Hotel Dusk, but I haven't played that yet).

Four words:

OH MY FUCKING GOD.

And that, my friends, is an understatement, as you probably all know. The cutscenes were FANTASTIC (I loved the ferris wheel one <3), and the plot was very interesting (even the reason you had to solve the puzzles was eventually brought into the plot, which I liked).

SO. I want the second game, like now. LIKE NOW. XD

I got it around before Christmas, but still didn't finish the story. <_<;

True, sometimes you have to think LOW. The one that annoyed me for a day was "how old is mom" (but probably more on "how old is dad" because... well, I'm too lazy to trial-and-error again). There, you have to think... quite low. Yeah. Quite. :sadshoe:

This game makes me feel bad.... I hated the OTTFF puzzle!!!! The game is pretty interesting, I loved the story and the graphics, and hated the queen in a box puzzles.

Wait... wasn't that "princess in a box"? Well, what do I know. I only say something 'round those lines in my sister's DS.

And random note I

saved just before the Ferris Wheel scene in file 2 and watch it every few days. I should be pitying them but I find it funny. :D

I got the US version of this game for Christmas.

Then I find the UK version has more puzzles. ):<

The game was pretty good, though. You know, Phoenix Wright helped be solve one puzzle. You know, the note one...

Which it hasn't even been announced for yet.

Go Nintendo has a link to the two Trailers for the Professor Layton Movie...

http://gonintendo.com/?p=74946

=D It doesn't look like it's going to be that live action junk but with the art style we've seen in the in game movies.

The UK Prof. Layton has more puzzles?! How many? I know the US version has 120 or something (thats the one I have).
I hope Prof. Layton 2 is out soon. I loved the story in Layton and the way it gave an actual reason behind solving the puzzles. Some really annoyed me though (like the tracing ones, the chess ones and the "Princess In a Box".. AAAARGHH).

On a quick browse of 4chan I found this. Seems to be a famitsu scan showing yet another professor Layton game in the works, and given Luke's appearance it appears to be a prequel.
Now if only they'd start getting the sequel into the west...

Not only a prequel, but the very story of how Luke became Layton's apprentice. And it's the start of another trilogy, too, so that's something to look forward to... well, if they're ever released overseas, anyway.

This reminds me of this for some reason.

Anyway, it seems it'll be called "Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute" and that it'll be the FIRST GAME IN A TRILOGY OF PREQUELS.

So, that's 6 games for Japan, 1 for not-Japan.

EDIT: More accurately, this game is set 3 years before "The Curious Village", says 1UP. The plot? A foggy town menaced by a legendary flute which, when played, caused a catastrophe to the town. Luke appears for the first time, and takes a key part in that legend, the legend of the, of course, "Devil's Flute".

Also, it seems the live-action movie will be called "Professor Layton and the Eternal Songstress", will be released near "The First Movie"'s release, and will be connected plot-wise to "Devil's Flute".
---
Before we start camping outside the Nintendo of America building, have this (I still can't find the source): It appears there will be a new Resident Evil game for us Wii players, called "Resident Evil: Dark Side Chronicles" or something. This is what Capcom meant by "Wii Resident Evil fans will be very happy very soon".

So apparently Professor Layton and the Curious Village is one of the DS's best-selling titles outside of Japan, with 1.6 million copies sold.

This game was kinda eehhhh

It's awesome to have little movies like that with amusing voice actors (PRUHFESSOH PRUHFESSOH) but solving puzzles all the time and without much reason did end up to tire me. A lot of them weren't too interesting either.

Such a shame that everyone else in my class thinks professor layton is for neeks.
Yeah... I have a bad reputation of making every game i play rubbish in my school.
I even made Phoenix Wright unpopular. I'm so sad.
One day, me and my friend were playing pokemon ranger.
Random guy: That game looks crap
Me: Friend one is playing it.
Random guy:...well when you play it, it's crap.

The only place where I'm remotley popular is here. So thanks guys!

Well can I have a bad opinion for once, sheesh. Seriously, when playing through I found myself getting all the enjoyment from the little cutscenes, not so much the puzzles - something which you could also get from, say, watching a video walkthrough.

oh well

I'll still end up buying the rest
