No-oen really plays this anyomore cuz o Street Fighter IV and Brawl taking the stage right now. Then again, Street Fighetr IV is probabely gonna start to take oevr people's lives. But what about SNK's answer to Capcom? King of Fighter is a great series with awesoem characters! Is anyone excited about KoF XII?

You mean that series that never quite caught on with American audiences due to complete ineptitude (and then complete disappearance) of the USA branch? The one that most believe can do no wrong? The one with a sequel that's coming out in 2-D using HD "handpainted" sprites?

Nope, never heard of it. And certainly not their American characters' steroid abuse.

KOF? Yeah, I know that game.

I usually use Terry, Kim and Ryo, and sometimes Duck, Eiji, Vanessa, Joe, Hinako, and the USA team, among many. I suck so much :(

I was always a fan of K' meself. Whenever I played a Team match, I'd use K', Kyo and Yamazaki.

I haven't touched a KOF for a looooooong time but the style of the new one coming out looks really sweet. It's good to see some titles sticking with 2D now that Guilty Gear has gone to crap.

I actually bought the King of Fighters Orochi Saga compilation game.

I'm working my way through '95 right now. I'll make it to the critically acclaimed King of Fighters '98 one day!

So far I've found a niche in this korean kid I can't remember the name of, but I like him.

I never understood what was so special about KOF. Tekken, Street Fighter II, Soul Calibur 2 and Mortal Kombat are better fighting games IMO.

Who can forget the flagship fighter title of a company renowned for their insanely difficult bosses? =p

Kim(normal guy)? Chang(fat guy)? Choi(little Freddie Krueger)?

And yes, 98 > other KoFs

Anyway, I liked the series up to 2000, while 2K3 deserves some mention. All the others were unsatisfying to play since the start of SNK/Playmore(May Lee is awesome, however). XII might be good, it's already visually impressive. Who knows..

KoF, rather SNK games in general were a nice alternative to the SF series, back when the KoF graphics and playstyle were considered "fresh and groundbreaking". These days it's more of the same, though I did enjoy NGBC a lot.

Nevermind, I mixed the Korean team up with the PSYCHIC team because they were the first team I ever picked.

Sie Kensou is the guy I meant. I really like him.

Apparently the 3D KoF games (Maximum Impact) are complete $%*! Which is why i'm gonna stick with KoF XII's new HD 2D sprites. :will:

you know, Brawl is not a fighter. I believe I have drilled that into the minds of many.
Anyways.
KoF 97-2003: my team always has Yamazaki in it. Normally, I throw in Ryo and Terry.
But in Ultimate Match, it's all the EX versions. Hell, if I'm playing D-Pad, I throw in Master Geese.

Brian Battler? Top-tier?

Okay since it comes out on 360 over XBLA I might actually be able to fucking play him. Hatman haets joypads and wub sticks.

I've never been heavily into KOF, but I like the series pretty well. I don't follow it entirely as closely as others here, though. Athena is one of my favorite girls from that series, and you can't go wrong with Rugal.

I need to get the Orochi Saga compilation... and I also dread the movie that's coming out. >_>

I still remember this series (And Samurai Shodown)...the last KOF Game I played was 2000 & 2001.

KOF XII looks really good...I'll have the chance to play it someday when comes out. :phoenix:

They probably tweaked it though. You've 98 classic and 98 UM. I know in 98 classic the US Sports team is a complete joke, but in UM, I've no idea.

Sometime I may make the effort to do so too... if I'm lucky enough.

I hope it'll be better than KOF XI. And I especially hope SNK doesn't try to make an even cheaper boss. Magaki was bad enough as it was...

Nah, in XI, if you've Clark on your team, as Magaki gets up, do his Frankensteiner. He'll eat it and not be able to do anything. Kinda like 98 Rugal falling to the Double Yuri Chou Upper.

It's pretty funny. A lot of bosses in fighting games treat command grabs like they're blockable. CPU-controlled characters lolol

Then again, it mimicks players who have low knowledge of game mechanics.

My favorite three characters have always been Ralf, King and Heidern. Now they plan to release in Japan KOF2002 Unlimited Match bringing the character total to 65. That's just crazy and awesome at the same time.

For 98 UM I might have to go with Battler or Heavy D!, Shingo and probably Terry. That was back when his Rising Tackle was a f,d,df motion. Goood times.

I recall playing one of the older Fatal Furies and it was a charge... so maybe that's the reason.

Meh, I do okay with them. I'm slowly mastering charge partitioning for SF4, but yeah Rising Taco as SRK movement is something I absolutely adore. It makes me rely less on the Power Dunk as an anti-air.

tried it, depending on the game they either hit me out of it or it has shit reach. PD worked fine but not as fine as Rising Tackle.

The Rising Taco is so much better in terms of Anti-Air given you don't have a super ready. If ye do, just bust out the Power Geyser.
The Crack Shoot sucks in terms of anti-air because it's an overhead hit rather than a rising hit. You have to understand that. I usually use it against people turtling it the entire match.
