News: David Tennant is leaving Dr Who after the four special episodes next year.

SOURCE

Speculation on who the new Doctor will be?

Spoiler: Christmas Special
This guy is appearing in the Christmas special and is calling himself "The Doctor", so it's probably going to be him.

Personally, it would have been nice if he could've stayed for one more full series, but....

I'm so going to miss this incarnation of The Doctor. :nixiesob:

back to the old eccentric doctors then, eh?

On a serious note though, I'm personally not very suprised by him leaving, but it's a shame anyways.

In other news, I was in Cardiff on the weekend and the Doctor Who exhibit is being reopened today I believe, it's likely there'll be the unveiling of some new and returning monsters there.

According to today's Metro, David Tennant has hinted that Billie Piper (who plays Rose) could be the next - and first female - Doctor.

Here's hoping that he's only joking around....

I don't object to a female Doctor, I object to it being Billie Piper.

I will personally go and kill her if that's announced. And RTD for good measure.

Why RTD? He's quit for seies 5 as well. Kill Steven Moffat (Series 5 head writer). And don't kill Billie...........................NUKE HER!

It's not entirely bad news in terms of David Tennant, as indicated by this link, he's basically saying that a return to the show in the future is a possibility.

Because I don't like RTD very much. That's why.

Quite. RTD made some better scripts towards the end of Series 4, but Moffat wrote quite a few excellent episodes - for example, Empty Child/Doctor Dances; Girl in the Fireplace (which was the first DW episode I'd ever seen); Blink (I hate this episode on the basis that it's Nightmare Fuel); Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead.

While I am happy that Moffat is now in charge; I cannot say that I want Billie Piper to be the Doctor. I've not wanted her to return since the end of Series 2; I was displeased to hear that she was returning to Doctor Who at all (but I can't say I wasn't surprised).

Back on the new Doctor Topic...

I'd like another Jon Pertwee, a serious Doctor to be next. I think that since we've had a couple of mildly eccentric ones, we should just have a deadpan Doctor.

Sorry for the huge bump, but it's either that or make another topic, so...

Anyway, according to yesterday's edition of The Sun, all of the Doctor's companions (even Donna :Pizza2:) will feature in Tennant's final episode. Also, The Master (played again by John Simm) will make an appearance as the villian.

Oh for goodness sake...

Why can't they just move on instead of bringing back old assistants again and again? I'll be glad to see Donna again, but unless there's a good reason for it, I'll be really annoyed. And seriously... HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU NEED TO TRAP BILLIE PIPER IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE FOR HER NOT TO COME BACK?

And I reeeeeeeally didn't like John Simms as the master... WHERE WAS THE BEARD? *cough*

On a plus note, it's almost the end of RTD :D

Personally, I'd say more "How many times must Billie Piper be trapped in an alternate universe period?", but I liked Rose. She was awesome, and deserved more time on the show.

I just didn't like her because she was too "damsel-in-distress"ish.

At least Donna and Martha actually did something...

And I just don't like the assistants that were romantically attatched to the Doctor, partly because I'm sitting there thinking "Why are you going for an alien 30 times your age?"

And if they bring the Doctor's Daughter into it, I may be forced to go and burn down the BBC.

Well, I think you'll be disappointed... It's quite evident that at some point they'll have to. Though I'd like an episode with the Doctor's actual daughter that's been alluded to, as in Susan Foreman's mom. It'd be interesting to see, IMO.

I think it would be good to see Jenny. And the look on the Doctor's face when he realises she's alive! plus The Doctor is over 36 times their age! I did the math.

No! Today's episode = Proof that the Master's returning. The lady at the end said that The Doctor's enemy will knock 4 times. The Sound of Drums reference (Duh-duh-duh-dum! Duh-duh-duh-dum!)

Meh, I thought it was alright, if very predictable.
The 2nd episode looks good, but teasers can't be trusted really.

Today's episode wasn't as good as I'd thought it was going to be. But at least Lee Evans wasn't as annoying as he usually is.

It was still awful.

And they'd better give The Master a beard this time...

I thought John Simm played the Master brilliantly and hilariously. I'm really looking forward to his episode(s). Speaking of which, will it be a 1-part or 2-part episode? I know specials are longer than normal episodes, but they made Journey's End longer than a special.

Also, when asked on Radio 1 in an interview, when asked if the master was returning, David was very vague because the BBC wouldn't like him revealing things ~

Also...David leaving...I think I'll die. The new doctor looks so...not David. XD

You know that they cast a little-known actor to play the next Doctor, right? Well, they've done exactly the same for his sidekick as well.

And I was hoping for Michelle Ryan, as well... :karma-scream:
