Heh, I suppose. I probably don't know half the slang you use!

Mind you, some teachers at my school don't know the slang of the area they live in so...I guess it's down to where you live, and whether you care. XD

Hey, Vicki! It's me again! ^_^ Thank you yet again for my avatar and sig! (I'm still using it, and while I'm here, why not? :P)

This is going to be a weird request.... Can you make me a logo? ^^'

I just need the text to be "Turnabout Cadenza", two lines (one word on each line, obviously). I would like Turnabout to be black and white, cool-colored, boringish and smaller. I want Cadenza to be warm-colored, and wilder and crazier. Also with a transparent background. I would like Cadenza to be more the focus, too. Also, can you make a 256x192 version (screenshot-sized) and a larger version (like, a banner-sized version to put at the top of a thread or something) (I don't want 2 different logos. Just 1 logo in 2 different sizes  )

Nadindi: Yeah, just like how I sometimes have no clue about random slang terms from other parts of the United States, like in the South. @__@

Ah, fantastic. This is fantastic, although I have one minor nitpick...

On the one were Apollo and Klavier are in photographs, can we get shadow on the left so that it centres the characters more?

But these are fantastic. I just have this tendancy to be nitpicky. Sorry about that. :sadshoe:

At the same time, I'm finding the game difficult. Do you have any tips? I'm not very good at these types of games, I'm afraid.

The secret to it is keeping your HP up. Complete all the chef's quests, or at least whatever ones are possible at the moment. The foods he makes after completion of these quests are sold in the shop, but they can run a little expensive at times. During normal gameplay (i.e. not boss battles) refrain from using Glyph Unions and keep your hearts full - that way, every torch/statue/light source you smash will yield money in some form or another. (If you have the glyph Inire Pecunia, all the money dropped will be 100G coins. I don't know if you're that far, but it should be of help when the time comes.) Then, when you feel you've acquired enough for a fair-sized smorgasbord, buy a ton of food. Some foods aren't available until halfway through the game, but when you find them, get them. Enemies drop food too.

The Darjeeling tea, milk, and coffee :godot: you often find in Wygol after opening the various treasure chests replenishes a small amount of hearts. Didn't know that until the very end.

Another tip: you know the rings named after Tarot cards found throughout the game? Once you find it, the Emperor Ring is your best friend. (I don't know if you have it yet, but if you do, equip it.) Equipping it will be invaluable during boss battles or whenever you recover HP with an item, as the amount of HP recovered will increase. During the battle with Dracula, my character (level 52) had 766 HP; she's had 100-something and had it restored to full again with a bowl of curry. Of course, without the Emperor Ring, it would've restored much less.
The trick is staying alive long enough to keep your HP up.

You should also be happy to hear that Theatre of Magic moved up a spot (it's at #6 now.) Slowly, but surely, we are coming back to our senses! My top 10: ToM from 1-9, and the Addams Family at 10, because it's only thing that even came close to ToM without topping it (dude, nothing tops the Theatre of Magic. The Theatre of Magic's ROOF doesn't top the Theatre of Magic.) But yeah, TAF was great. I've been to that same hotel 5 times this year (parties, et al.) and I didn't find the game room there until now. Figures.

TheBaronAndEma - Unfortunately, Rhythm Heaven isn't a Touch Generations title, which is really awkward because the commercial I saw on ABC Family shows a mom playing Glee Club with her child. Since you're from Australia, your currency system is different from ours, but in the US Rhythm Heaven sells for $34.99 USD. It's a shame, really - I thought it'd be a perfect TG title.

I would not be surprised if you saw The Addams Family machine somewhere; it's the best selling pinball game with flippers (yes, there are flipperless ones too, but they're like from the 30's or so.) The production numbers were massive, so it's a well-known and very well-done machine. Some of the later versions were made in gold!

--

RandomJibberish - Wow, awesome! You're doing really well O___O

I don't like Rhythm Rally much either. Rhythm Rally 2 is especially horrible, and Rhythm Heaven's nazi timing system doesn't help much. Both versions of Rhythm Rally are cute to look at and listen to, but not to play!

Seriously. Look at that LazyTown pirate dude and just TRY telling me he can beat up one of those macho pirate dudes, or Black Rose herself. You would be so many levels of wrong it isn't even funny...or maybe it is.

Vicki:

I have some AWESOME news for you.

You know that diner I keep talking about, and how I told the owner (with whom I'm awesome friends) to ask about ToM for its game room? Well, she didn't forget. In response, the amusement guy said he would "try his hardest" to get it! She also told me that the game room is supposed to be updated with all new games, and she's going to let me know when everything arrives! I'm popping out of my skin with excitement right now. This is going to be TOO cool.

And if they have Theatre of Magic, I will eat there every single day regardless of calorie content. A place with such a refined taste in awesome needs to be supported at all costs.

Vickinator wrote:

Yup.

Spoiler: The Straight Dope's history on it (tl;dr sorta)
Pinball as we know it began in 1930, when David Gottlieb--a name that should be revered by every pinball aficionado--designed a small (16x24 inches) coin-operated bagatelle board he named "Baffle Ball." Instead of a cue stick, the game used a built-in plunger, the same simple but elegant device that survives today. For a penny, the player enjoyed the spectacle of shooting seven balls to the top of the machine and watching fatalistically as they rolled down and fell (or didn't fall) into the scoring holes. Soon, the players developed a technique politely known as "nudging," which consisted of slamming the board from side to side in an effort to influence the ball's progress. Nudging did not become the fine art it is today until 1933, when the British Hardinges Company introduced an alarm bell that went off with a deafening roar whenever the machine was "tilted."

...In 1945 after the war ended Bally went back into production with a game designed to add a new element of ball control. Called "Nudgy," the board featured a button on the side, which, when pressed, would jerk the entire playfield backwards, sending the ball back to the top of the machine. It was a dismal failure, apparently because the players resented this electronic intrusion on their carefully honed nudging skills. It took the far-reaching mind of one Harry Mabs, a designer for the Gottlieb company, to come up with the ultimate ball control device--one that added a new element of skill to the game without impinging upon the player's pride. The "flipper," as Mabs christened his movable bumper, first appeared in October 1947 on the Gottlieb game "Humpty Dumpty." This historic machine featured six flippers, which were gradually reduced to two in subsequent models as the players developed greater facility. The flipper proved to be the salvation of the industry. Although pinball continued to be illegal in many jurisdictions for decades afterward, the flipper made it clearly a game of skill and not of chance, and it attracted many dedicated sportsmen, such as myself, whose interest in the game was purely aesthetic. Of course, if you won 300 free games, that was OK too.

YES, GLEE CLUB 2. This time the Chorus Kids are at a beach at sunset! It's too cute. <3 It shows up later on though, I think from games 41-44 (before Remix 9.)

Jenna: Yeah.. in college, it seems like almost every student I met loved the whole "drunk and stupid" thing. I don't mind social drinking at all, but when people are stumbling everywhere it gets a little out of hand sometimes.

Your campus is big, eh? My campus is huge too, but our bus system is decent. It takes awhile for the next bus sometimes, but in general it's quite reliable. What's bad about yours?

Baron and Asaki: I feel out of the loop - what's good about the Touch Generations brand? Cheaper price?
No need to feel embarrassed :)

I haven't even looked at most of the GK material because I dislike spoilers. Normally, I don't mind spoilers with other games because I tend not to finish my games... but games like PW/GS and GK I definitely do not want to be spoiled since the games rely so heavily on plot content.

Gyakuten:
Sure :)
Claire: No problem!

Asaki:
That's amazing to hear! In general you'd never expect someone to take your suggestion seriously (like when I suggested an online board game website to include a version of Chinese Checkers for multiplayer), so it's great that they did!
Ahaha, did you mention that you will worship them if they succeed in obtaining it? I figure that would somewhat help their efforts.. or, they might just raise their eyebrows at your devotion (but hey, you're awesome for being such a loyal fan!).

The blurb on the flipperless history was interesting.
"when the British Hardinges Company introduced an alarm bell that went off with a deafening roar whenever the machine was 'tilted.'" This made me laugh.

"Although pinball continued to be illegal in many jurisdictions for decades afterward..." Why was pinball illegal? o__o''

Oh! I know this one! It was associated with gangsters and gambling, so they banned it.

Pretty much. Normally, games in the TG range cost only AUS $35-$45 or so (even less during a sale), whereas a normal new release game would cost something more like $50. Other than that, TG has no real importance.

I totally agree with you. I hate being spoiled becuase it just really makes the game not as fun it usually should. It found that out with GS 1-4, unfortuantely. :sadshoe:
Usually, mind you, it's me who tends to spoil it. I'm just curious like that. :-P

It is in Australia.
Just another reason why you should move here.

Oh god, you're right! Turns out it's a Touch Generations title in PAL regions...but nowhere else. *is jealous* :sadshoe:

I think North America will probably wait until it's out for a while before labeling it as TG, just like they did with Hotel Dusk. They're just GOOD like that. :yuusaku:

Pfft. Lucky. :P

You say Australia is lucky - Just remember we still don't have T&T. And don't get me started on Trauma Center. And the prices - UGH! (rants on) :phoenix:

...Gah, I have to cave in. Your art is just too awesome and .•°٭blinq٭°•.'s Rhyme sig is paticuarly amazing. Mind doing a Resident Evil one for me?

Text: "I know the day that I am of no use...is the day that I am disposed of."
Image(s):This, but I'd like it to be a bit bigger...if you can't rework it, then I understand, so don't worry. Just try and get her upper body and face in.
I'd also like the nearly-center face of the guy pulling his glasses slightly down to reveal his eye, but a bit transparent...like a shadow.
Any preferred size?: A little bit bigger then your own sig, preferably. :3
Color scheme: Red and black, really sort of dreading...
Extras? Spots of blood, and a fair few scratches of black. I'd also like for the woman to on the right side, but no like crashing against the edge...sort of in that direction. With that guy looming over her towards the left. You can put a few spots of blood across the woman, in fact, I think that would highlight the sig very well...but don't put all of them on her though. Try and leave the guy free of any of that stuff...

This sounds like an utter ***** to make to me...I'm really sorry. T_T I'd be very grateful if you could do this please, but if you struggle, you don't have any obligations to me, alright? Thanks. ^_^;

Any questions, queries, feel free to ask!

Baron pretty much summed that up above. Touch Generations titles are those that would appeal to every age group, from 9 to 90, and are thus much cheaper.

Quote:
Asaki: That's amazing to hear! In general you'd never expect someone to take your suggestion seriously (like when I suggested an online board game website to include a version of Chinese Checkers for multiplayer), so it's great that they did!

The staff are pretty dedicated and nice people. I asked the owner if the amusement guy had ever heard of it, and she told me: "he didn't say that he didn't!" They do take good care of their game room, though. There's some cool old (and somewhat rare) games there, like Atari's RoadBlasters (1987), Atari's version of Tetris (1988), a Nintendo PlayChoice machine (you'd get to play NES games like SMB2, Punch-Out!! and Ninja Gaiden, and in the corner of the machine was a timer - you could get more time with each quarter you put in.) They have some a MegaTouch machine, Point Blank 2, and those Golden Tee things you see in a ton of pubs and stuff.

And then the pinball machines. Of course. I dunno if you knew this, but Black Rose is a rare machine. It has half the production run of Theatre of Magic, and I've never played ToM for real (though I will soon! <3) and yet Black Rose is right here for me to play as long as I have a ride (September can't come soon enough. I WANT MY PERMIT. :yuusaku:)

And what is Chinese Checkers without someone to play it with?

Quote:
Ahaha, did you mention that you will worship them if they succeed in obtaining it? I figure that would somewhat help their efforts.. or, they might just raise their eyebrows at your devotion (but hey, you're awesome for being such a loyal fan!).

No, but I went into town to grab a pizza and head over to the game room there, and I told my dad: "Dude, if they get Theatre of Magic, I am SO eating there every single day." He said: "Well, I don't know about that." XD Knowing the owner, she'd probably laugh, but actually think about it. The waiters/waitresses would be more likely to raise their eyebrows than she would be.

AND I JUST WENT THERE AND PLAYED BLACK ROSE AGAIN TONIGHT. I'm starting to like it a bit more now. It just grows on you. During the beginning of one of my games I started singing "You Are A Pirate." Strangely enough, I got the replay at the end of that game. o__O I guess Black Rose isn't too hard, you just have to sing to it a little.

Black Rose also has a video mode with little minigames in it. One of them is called "Walk The Plank" and you have to swim away from a shark. Reaching the shore gets you an extra ball, so of course it's hard. As you're swimming, Black Rose yells: "SWIM, YOU BILGE RAT!!" Gee, thanks a lot, Captain Thunderthighs, because your button-pressing skills are way better than mine. It's not my fault that I can't press the button fast enough, even with two fingers. *le sigh*

Seriously though, it's awesome.

Quote:
The blurb on the flipperless history was interesting.
"when the British Hardinges Company introduced an alarm bell that went off with a deafening roar whenever the machine was 'tilted.'" This made me laugh.

That'd be scary to hear for real, though. I'd never want to nudge again...

Quote:
"Although pinball continued to be illegal in many jurisdictions for decades afterward..." Why was pinball illegal? o__o''

Gyakuten Phoenix summed it up well. It was considered gambling, and numerous gangsters had taken a liking to it, so there were actually raids that ended up in destroyed machines and things of that ilk. Sad, really. :sadshoe:

TheBaronAndEma: Really? Why didn't you get T&T yet? Is it because of that same Terry Fawles suicide deal that (supposedly) delayed it in Europe? I know it just came out in Europe in October 2008, but I don't know why Australia doesn't have it yet...hmm. I didn't know that.

I don't know much about the Australian Trauma Center delay, but from what I read, you guys waited two years for it. Holy crap...did you get it yet? I'd understand if Trauma Center was a bigger franchise, but still...two years for a TC game? Wow.

As for prices - is Australian money worth more or less than American money? Here, DS games are around $30 USD, with more expensive ones running from $35-40 USD, and bargain ones for $20.

I'm not sure why it's not out here yet, it may be for that reason you mentioned, it may be that Nintendo Australia is too busy realasing "My Scenez PetzBabyzFashion Time!" or some other crap shovelware like that.

Luckily for me I didn't get interested in TC until Christmas last year when TC: SO was still new. Then New Blood came along on Jan. 22. :edgy: I'm still waiting for UTK 2.

I'm pretty sure Australian money is worth less than American money, seeing as, depending which store you shop at, DS games average around $40 - $60, with new games being around $60 - $70 and bargins being anywhere around $20 to $40 dollars. I don't think the currency rate has anything to do with how much the games actually are though, it's pretty much just the usual overinflated Australian game prices.

Did you say that the diner that might have ToM has Point Blank 2? I'm trying to hunt that down for PlayStation! I'm quite interested in G-Con games!

EDIT: Speaking of Trauma Center.....

Haha, your last sentence made me lawl. But it's true, really. Nintendo World in NYC, in addition to being the flagship Nintendo store, sells games, too - a lot of which you can't find in stores (like the KORG DS-10 Synthesizer) - and it has a whole wall with games ending in z. Because unkonventional spellingz are kewl, amirite? Me, I just turned to the other wall and bought Castlevania: OoE - one of the best purchases I've made for my DS yet (next to PW, of course.)

That was a major delay. If you got interested in the beginning you'd have probably gone insane. I got interested in it the same time I bought Justice for All (my first Ace Attorney game), so I got interested in PW and TC at the same time. That was in June of last year, when I bought games for my new DS.

I can't play Trauma Center on the Wii because my sister is scared majorly by stuff like that. I stick to the DS versions because of that. Maybe when I get out on my own, I'll consider it. Forensic pathology is where the money's at.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of when the game openly insults you like that. It's like... THE GAME CALLED ME A SISSY! T__T''
Sounds great that Black Rose is growing on you :)
That's crazy that they have BR then - I didn't know it was a rare machine. Awesome! There's hope for ToM yet!

Now I can wait even less...it's KILLING ME. I hope they don't get rid of Black Rose! They should get rid of Road Show instead because it's everywhere and it sucks.

My sister's playing softball this summer, and I help out with the team. And the pizza place me and my sister like is right next to the diner - so, you know what that means? And when I practice driving this summer, I might be able to stop by the diner, since it's like 5 minutes away from my house. You know what that means? THEATRE OF MAGIC EVERY DAY (if it happens, of course)

Only the ace of diamonds from this image: http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previe ... 023297.JPG

I'd like it if you could make the first two images a shade of Thalassa blue (or, alternatively, you could leave them monochrome) and bloody up the Ace of Diamonds to symbolize her accident (thought not to the point of overkill.) It'd be cool to edit the locket so that it looks like it's draped over the ace of diamonds. Leave the locket's colors as-is.

Any preferred size?: 480 x 272
Color scheme: See above - Thalassa blue + gold of locket + red on the ace, or the alternative monochrome version.
Extras?: Aside from the blood on the ace - stars, sparkly things, random grungy stuff.

Color scheme: You be the judge. I'd like some teal-blue that fades into red when it reaches "like an apple hanging from a tree" and the verses following it, but it's really up to you.

Extras?: Sparkly stuff, paint splatters, grungy things, hearts.

The second is easier than the first. The first is way tougher to pull off, because I don't know how well the colors will mesh - if you run into problems or find it hard, just let me know. Thanks again Vicki. :phoenix:

So, for the rest of the summer, I'll be waking up at 6AM every weekday and working at my internships until 5PM, not coming home until 6-8PM. I absolutely loved my first day at my internship in the city. :)

Sophie: Sure thing, you've been added.
Baron: Point Blank is just a time-killer in my opinion.. I got it from a friend for free, so I can't say it's worth buying, really.
Asaki: XDD ToM every day would be indeed heaven for you! Those decals look awesome!
I'll tell you what - I'm buying a button maker relatively soon (and by soon, I mean once I get the $250 from selling my stuff on LiveJournal, which translates to "a long time") and will make you like 2-3 ToM buttons. You can wear them with pride. >:3

Sure to the PSP wallpapers, but ech.. yeah, I only have about two hours of free time during weekdays so you'll have to wait a bit (about a week?), unfortunately.
