Belphegor prouces a bloody, crumpled hand, the one from the crushed corpse.

Then he produces the sock puppet in his other hand.

He drops the hand into the sock puppet and then holds up the completed product.

It fits. The sock puppet gives a smile.

"THIS IS KLIFFORD'S HAND."

"Sorry if you were depending on this piece of evidence for something in particular, since it's really unremarkable."

"Alright, let's cut this bullshit!" Brandy yells. "Get on with it! Use this lifeline!"

"But what for? We need something concrete here", Haley folds her arms.

"We should use the hangman's gambit", Sebastian elucidates calmly. "As for the topic, it should be something we can glean something useful from. How about... what the circle in the elevator was used for?"

"Hmm. I see." Belphegor nods slowly. "Very well then. Let us begin."

He raises his arms, with purple lightning shooting out. Suddenly, what appears to be a guillotine is present in the centre of the tribunal hall. It unnerves others slightly, but their attention is grabbed by the phrase hovering over it.

"H-h-h-h...... Good job, Sebastian. You are correct." The guillotine disappears, and Belphegor goes back to his normal stance. "All I said was that nobody commanded a clone, not that there wasn't a clone summoned. Now, let me make this clear to you as well:"

"THE CLONING CIRCLE WAS ACTIVATED DURING THE TIME OF THE MURDER."

"Now, with that out of the way, let me ask you all, what do you garner from this new information? Who made the clone circle and activated it? Whom did they make a clone of, and why? How does the hole on the circle tie into this?"

"I'm sure at the end of all this is something you weren't expecting..."

"Well, for starters, Matt was the one holding the knife. It seems reasonable that he cut himself to use blood to make a clone, I think?" Seb said. "Though one other possibility comes to mind as well: the blood on the furnace was from a dead person, and the 'Benjamin' we found was merely a clone intended to mislead us. The blood triggers the BDA while we look at the clone, so we think Benjamin is the one dead. If Matt was the one really dead, his body could be burned in the furnace right behind Benjamin to completely dispose of it, while still triggering a BDA."

"Oh, and let me make this clear to you:"

"Also, with your theory involving the body you discovered in the torture room not being Benjamin, let me remind you that the brace on Benjamin's left ankle couldn't have been cloned at all. Perhaps his clothes, but definitely not his brace. In fact, let me give you some more information on that:"

"THE BRACE EVERYONE FOUND BELONGS TO BENJAMIN, AND IT WAS LOCKED TIGHT. THERE IS ONLY ONE KEY TO IT AND IT WAS NOT IN BENJAMIN'S POSSESSION AT ANY POINT, NOR DID HE MANAGE TO UNLOCK THE BRACE."

"Hopefully this helps." Belphegor chuckles, his dry laugh echoing through the caverns.

"Alright then, how about this?" Seb began.

"Benjamin went into the torture chamber, sat down at the chair and hacked his own leg off, thus freeing him from his shackles. He cauterised the wound, and kept some blood to make a clone with.

"Returning to the elevator, he placed the now-free brace into the slot on the floor, holding it in place. He drew an outline of himself on the floor, making sure the clone's leg would appear right where the brace was, then used the saved blood to summon a clone of himself.

"He then brought the clone back to chair in the room and 'tortured it' to create the illusion that he himself had been tortured, though he probably couldn't complete the challenge this way. Then he left the clone leaning against the furnace and went elsewhere, doing... something or other. How did the Benjamin we saw die? He didn't. He was never alive in the first place, just a clone."

"You announced that we'd found a body twice. Two people died, that hasn't changed. If Benjamin didn't really die, then Matt did," Seb said. "Alternatively Benjamin faked his own death only to actually die for some reason, but that seems less likely. Either way, the one who died was probably burned in the incinerator which is why we didn't find them. I'm not sure where the third person is, though. They can't be dead otherwise we would have heard a third announcement, but I'm not sure how they avoided being poisoned at 01:00 either. In fact, if they were poisoned at 01:00 we'd have definitely found them, which means... Well, it would mean they have to have gotten outside the challenge area. I don't think it's possible that they didn't. That would, in turn, imply that someone opened up the secret room from outside."

Belphegor holds up the waste bin from the art room.

Scraps of red-stained paper fall to the ground. They can see rather beautifully sketched art underneath and some bits that have color filled in.

It looks like pieces of a portrait of everyone together.

Too bad it's ruined.

Oliver's face got as red as his hair (and stained suit) due to embarrassment as Belphegor dumped out the contents of his once fabulous painting. "N-Now that's just uncalled for, showing my ruined work!" he whined.

He slumped his shoulders at seeing the stains. His life was ruined. He failed his art career, just like a certain, ah, political leader. Okay, I'm done.

Sebastian seems to have an idea and Belphegor permits him to leave the tribunal area briefly.

He goes to the Challenge Area and enters the front doors.

The room is slightly different from last time.

The alcohol tank is about one third empty and lying next to it is a rectangular mirror, about as wide as the alcohol box and a lot taller than it.

Alcohol seems to be all around it.

The lid is open.

Sebastian rushes back.

Seb explained what he saw in methodical detail, before elaborating on what he thought it meant.

"I think Benjamin... or possibly Matt or even Klifford somehow... was hiding in the liquor tank. They'd be protected from the lethal gas in there, and by angling the mirror so it reflected the floor or ceiling they'd be invisible to anyone looking into the tank. After killing everyone else they hid in there and waited for the timer to run out. Then they simply waited some more as we investigated, popping their head up to breath every so often perhaps. Once we all came here for the tribunal they finally left, leaving the scene in the state I found it. This is also why they needed to take the mirror, the removal of which didn't otherwise help their plan altogether that much at all. I suppose it's also why no-one completed the alcohol challenge. That way the deadly gas releases for sure, and that way the tank is still mostly full."
