So far, not bad. I'm just posting to say that Gumshoe was in the 4th game, so he ties with Payne, Phoenix, and the Judge. I suppose you could include records for most cases in which a character was the witness. Furthermore, I think whether Manfred should count as a main character is debatable. He only appears in one case, and although there are future references to him, I'm not too sure if it counts.
As well, what exactly counts as an appearance? If there is a flashback, profile picture, reference, or Phoenix seeing visions of Mia, would those count? If so, Mia appears in 1-5 at the end of Starr's testimony. Manfred would also appear in 2-2 and 3-5. Edgeworth would appear in 2-2. By the way, Phoenix is in 3-4. At the very end, shortly after Terry commits suicide, we see Phoenix by the computer.
Moreover, what exactly counts as a murder accusation? If I remember correctly, Klavier accused Phoenix of murder in 4-4 for about 5 seconds. Phoenix accuses Edgeworth of murder in 1-5, although it could be percieved as a joke.

Gumshoe was in both 3-1 and 4-4 flashback, and Oldbag was in 3-5's ending.
And I think that if Manfred counts as a main, so does Iris.

Mia wasn't in 2-3, no.
Not considering AJ for Gumshoe?

Are you sure? Well, maybe I was wrong, but I thought that he gave one or two testimonies, like in 2-1.

The only witnesses in 3-1 were Phoenix and Dahlia.

Main Characters = Phoenix, Mia, Maya, Edgeworth, Gumshoe, Udgy, Pearl , Payne, von Karma's, Godot
Recurring = Grossburg, Larry, Lotta, Oldbag, Maggey, Will Powers, Meekins, Ema, Hotti, Adrian
Mia counts as anytime she appears as herself, in maya, or in pearl

How come you call Manfred a main, but not Dahlia?
Re: Ace Attorney Awards

I agree that we should consider whether Manfred really is a main character. He only appeared in one case. Furthermore, a few points that need to be edited:
As somebody said before, Oldbag is in the third game and ties for second most game appearances.
This is a stretch, but if you consider the figure at the bottom right of the screen in Sunshine Coliseum in 4-3 and 4-4 to be Larry, he ties for second most game appearances.
I believe Shadi Enigmar was the oldest defendant. According to Court Records, he is 46 years old, so whether he was a defendant at this age, or the age of seven years younger, he is still older than Phoenix.
Magnifi Gramarye was the oldest victim. I suppose you could say that he isn't, seeing as he committed suicide, but he was considered a victim as far as the law is concerned. Besides, I bet Zak really murdered him, regardless of what Valant tells you. But if you do consider him to be the killer, that would make him the oldest killer at 67.
This might be a stretch, but I'd say that Dahlia caused her own death. If she didn't kill Doug, she wouldn't have died.
Gumshoe appears in 13 cases. 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4, 3-5, 4-4. One way to look at it is that there are 18 cases, and Gumshoe is absent in the five you listed.
As I said before, Phoenix is in all 18 cases.
I just remembered, if you don't like my theory that Phoenix was accused of murder in 4-4, and you want to include a second place, we have Edgeworth in 1-4 and 1-5, and Larry in 1-1 and 3-5. Both of those are small stretches, but they were still murder accusations.
I'm not sure about the term "caused the most deaths", because Morgan gave birth to Dahlia, and might be considered the cause of it all. Ami Fey founded the Kurain Channeling Technique, and could be considered the cause of the blood feud, resulting in Dahlia's crimes. Grossberg could be considered a cause of Mia's death, because he sold DL-6 information to Redd White, resulting in Mia becoming a lawyer and pursuing White. There are too many ways the phrase "cause" a death could be used to implicate people.
Dahlia might not have killed Valerie in 3-4. There was no decisive proof against her. Therefore, the youngest murderer was Dahlia at age 20, when she killed Doug.
Didn't Joe Darke cause the most deaths? He killed four people, and he was the cause of Neil's and Goodman's murder, as well as his own execution. Might be a stretch, but you did say "cause" the most deaths. So that was 7, compared to Dahlia causing Valerie, Terry, Doug, herself, and Misty to die for a total of five. I don't count Diego because he is not dead, although you might be able to count him if he was executed after 3-5. Although, if you're really nitpicky about it, you might say Joe did not kill the first four people in the SL-9 files, since there was no proof against him. Actually, another argument could be that Phoenix caused the most deaths, just like Gumshoe said. "Sometimes, I wonder if he's the cause of all these incidents!" So that would make Phoenix first place, at a total of 18 deaths. (That was a joke.)
This is even more of a stretch, but you could say Dahlia was the youngest victim at 12. There was no proof that Terry didn't kill Dahlia. Mia presented the possibility and then Edgeworth said who the witness was, but there was nothing proving that was Dahlia. It could have even been Iris. Since it was not proven, then as far as the law is concerned, Dahlia is dead.
Wow. I'm really tired of typing. Hope I've been helpful, despite being a bit nitpicky.

On the matter of most deaths caused.... shouldn't Redd White get that award?
It says most deaths CAUSED, and White brought many people to commit suicide.

well... its kinda proven that dahlia ISNT DEAD.
also, i dont count phoenix as being in 3-4 because he had no profile and it was just at the VERY end.

Depends, does Edgey count for 2-3? Because if so, then Phoenix counts for 3-4, too.

well.... im not sure. even though he has a profile in 2-3 and shows up at the end, i dont think it should be counted, not that it matters for his case appearance count. even if it does, it doesnt necesarily mean phoenix was in 3-4. edgeworth actually had a profile in 2-3 while Phoenix just appeared at the end after the flashback

I hereby suggest these Phoenix Wright characters for the weirdest hairdo:
I do not intend to put all of these in the nominations, however this is presented to offer suggestions to persons who intend to nominate an Ace Attorney character for evaluation.
(I'd nominate either Magnifi, Nick or Apollo, but I can't choose. BTW, you can use the Official Art to verify all the claims stated.)

But von karma didnt have anything to do with Phoenix becoming a lawyer. gregory inspired miles who inspired Phoenix. von Karma just amde Miles want to become a prosecutor instead.

That was part of the reason. The other was because Edgeworth was supposed to become a defense attorney, so when Phoenix found out he was this "demon prosecutor", he tried to get an explanation out of Edgey. Miles blew Nick off, so Phoenix became a lawyer to face him in court.
And yeah, I agree with Szabu about Dahlia being a main character. She's pretty much the most important character in the third game.

Interesting topic. I noticed you based your age categories on the ages in the profiles. I prefer to do age based on the year the character was born - since we meet characters in different years, their ages will changes, but their birth year never will. Under that system:
Oldest main: Still Manfred (1951)
Youngest main: Trucy (2011)
Oldest character: still Bruto Cadaverini (1948)
Youngest character: Machi Tobaye (2012)
Also, where are all the AJ characters in your list of mains?
also Charley is totally in all four games
