Yeah yeah, elections are over a year away. But there's no time like the present to be prepared!

If you go to the Capcom Community site you'll see that the Final Fight fans are supporting Mike Haggar for President 08! In fact, Capcom is encouraging all its fan communities to pick and support their own presidential candidate. When election time rolls around, the people at Capcom will pick a winner from among the candidates, and the group that wins gets...something. Something big! Possibly even a copy of every Capcom game released in 2006!

More important than prizes, though, is that we can't let the Phoenix Wright fandom get shown up. Let's show them we can run with the big dogs, shall we?

Court Records is therefore going to officially support a character from the PW series for President, 2008! Once a candidate is chosen, we'll have to come up with 10 reasons why that character deserves to be president. We've got some ideas for that, but choosing the candidate comes first. Though Phoenix himself is an obvious choice, we have to consider who is the most well known, the most marketable, and who lends best to a "10 reasons" kind of list. (for an example, you can see Haggar's here). Wooster and I talked over some possibilities, and came up with this poll. So vote for whoever you think is the best choice!

After that, the campaign will begin. A site, campaign slogans, banners, sigs, buttons - you name it. We have over a year, after all. Plenty of time to generate some buzz and make the PW community even bigger!

He'd be perfect for President and it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes, either. :) He's also charismatic, tough and would be more than a match for the often nasty political scene. Edgeworth is definitely my choice. :)

Damon Gant for President!

He's experienced, and dedicated his entire life to civil service. That's at least four decades more experience than most of his competitors.

He has leadership qualities and leadership skills, able to direct the whole LA police department. His subordinates and former co-workers all testify that they marvelled at his work ethic, his personality. He is selfless and wholly dedicated to his work.

He has the charisma and 'down to earth' personality fitting of a president. He never hesitates to befriend new individuals and old friends, checking on their health and their leisure time, and sharing his own experiences. He's calm, polite, jovial, and though stern when needed, never rude. Though promoted to the upper levels of the police force, he works the streets along with the lowest officers.

Most importantly, he'll get the work done. He'll fight for the greater good, for less crime. He's tough and doesn't crack under pressure, and will not fold to enemies of the free world. At the same time, however, he will befriend and ally with other nations, rallying them to the same high causes.

For a better future,

GANT 08!

I think Gant is our ticket. He's the most marketable person there. And unlike Phoenix, Edgy, and Mia, his personality actually drives him forward and not events around him. That right there is a big bonus for us when we go to make our promos for him.

As much as I hate to praise villany, I must join the ranks of the Gantwagon. Everything about that man screams POLITICIAN, both good and bad. Too bad the way things seem to be right now we can't add on a more balanced vice-pres to ride his coattails... (I guess Lana would do it if forced to... Legendary Duo '08 and all).

Gant, all the way. He's a total politician, and his personality wouldn't stop progress. Keep moving forward! Gant 08!

I don't know...although he is not my most favorite character, he does has some class. He's got my vote.

Absolutely *hate* Gant, but he does make a great politician for various reasons that I had already shared with Croik, Wooster, and Silver...

Gant of course. Phoenix would make a crappy president.

I'll say Phoenix. Being a lawyer, he must know quite a bit of how the laws in the country work, and thus would be a good person to trust when it comes to making bills and such.

Not only that, but he has the vocal capacity to argue well when it comes to foreign affairs, and his ability to come back from even the most dire turn of events would help, too.

And finally, he has the look of a president down already, even wearing the colors of the American flag (sort of - just needs a deeper-shaded tie).

Final Fight has been ignored far too long, and Mike Haggar has previous experience in this kind of thing.

I'm sorry to betray you all like this, but Street Fighter/Final Fight, to me, is blood, and blood is thicker than water.

Phoenix Wright: Nice guy and strong in his convictions, but other than that, he is too easy to push around.

Miles Edgeworth: XD oh he's my favorite, but I'm not sure how great of a politician he'd be. I think he's better off as a supreme court judge.

Manfred von Karma: He'd drag us into World War III! And win! Still the thought is quite scary, so no thank you.

Damon Gant: Crafty enough and would manage to manipulate everyone in Congress. Also quite scary.

Godot: ... Don't know him well enough yet, but I forsee... Coffee themed holidays. And lots of them.

Mia Fey: Well she certainly is clever enough and strong enough... Couple of things going against her though. That and I doubt she would quit being a defense attorney.

Housuke Odoroki: I don't know him well enough, but did you know that one of our presidents was the reason why the letters "ok" mean approval?

Daliha: ... Well she'd probably charm all the male ambassadors into agreeing with everything she says. She's crafty, but I'd worry about the state of the country if she was the president.

Vote Manfred von Karma for president.

He is perfect in any and every way. He is the one who will lead us. Perfectly, without flaw.

As much as I love Edgey, he's only got a hair more experience than Phoenix. Phoenix is too inexperienced...Mia...yeah. There's the caveat that she's dead. It's not as if Maya can channel her constantly...or that Pearls can do the same.

I gotta give it to Gant...he's a true politician...in so many senses...

Yes yes YES! The 'Von Gant' Team Duo would be unstopable!

Phoenix for Prez. I've got some reasons for you.

1. He fights to the very end.
2. He believes in his clients.
3. He's got through some very tough spots.
4. He's a noble, nice guy.
5. Look at his competition.


Gant- Constantly swims. Come on, hardly a good candidate.

Chinami-

Edgeworth- Emo. Decides to abandon his job, then come back, at the drop of a hat. Unpredictable. In a bad way.

Mia-

Von Karma- Pure evil. And he's ugly.

Godot- Metaphors and similes and a coffee-themed country. 'nuff said.

Odoroki- The first of his name is Odor. Jeez. Then, we non-Japanese readers don't even know him that well yet! We need a prez for EVERYONE! AND EVERYONE KNOWS PHOENIX!
