He's answering any questions submitted to him (at least any Capcom deems worthy) and its through Capcom Unity so it is regarding western fans/the localization. Hopefully that means some news will come out soon.

That's very good to know! I'll be watching for when the answers come out. We may get this good news.

I'm expecting the release date and price being revealed during the Q&A. After all, there aren't that many questions you can ask to Eahiro if you're not planning to ask him about the story. And I'm not sure if Capcom would give him questions such as "WILL AA:DD GET A PHYSICAL RELEASE OR NOT?".

And it has been at least a week since the announcement of good news coming "very soon". Yeah, by now, "very soon" is not an indicator to when the news is coming. For all we know, the "good news" is coming at the end of September.

I would have agreed with that, but then I remembered this Q and A isn't live is it? We just submit the questions and they'll get back to them with the top 10 being asked when 'Chris' (or whoever) meets with Eshiro and there's some kind of (not live) video or writeup. That's the impression I got anyway. I'm not sure they've told us when these things are getting answered and in what format, just the deadline to submit them. But as a live 'event' it would make sense to make the 'announcement'.

I don't think so... or at least, I certainly hope not :payne: They've all but guaranteed a release for this year, so they'd have to release the game the same month if they announced this good news in December. By that point we would've waited so long that we probably wouldn't care about anything they tell us (bar an announced AAI2 localization... which is HIGHLY unlikely to happen :sadshoe: ) so long as we finally got out hands on Ace Attorney. Still, I'm not Capcom, so who knows? It could happen, or it could not; in any case, in the meantime I'm content to wait and see what will happen now :phoenix:

Aww don't take my sarcasm completely literally... yeah it's unlikely the release date (which is supposed to be in 2013 so December at worst) will be announced the same month as release (unless it's delayed).

It's true though that we don't know what this 'good news' to supposedly show Digital is a good idea is so it's not necessarily the release date, but the price or some other marketing deal.

Maybe the game will be 'FREE'! Except you have to pay past the first case.... Or a deal where you get it with another game, 50% off. Or... All these wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't a digital game, see? Or maybe the DLC Case won't cost anything here (although I doubt it).

Makes me wonder if they're going to put the older games on the e-Shop and if not, why not? (They're not there now, correct?)

Online distribution does allow very quick announcements (or none at all!) before release.

No, there aren't any old DS games on the 3DS eshop. They have considered porting DS games to the Wii U eshop because the gamepad is basically a DS lower screen. Nintendo hasn't said if they're going to port any DS games there, but some articles have said Ace Attorney games should be, along with some other titles.

I sent a PM to Chris on Capcom-Unity asking if he could tell me a ballpark estimate of when the release date will be announced. He probably won't respond, but I'll post it his answer here if he does.

EDIT: Chris replied and said that the only estimate he could give me is still Fall. (I guess that means he couldn't even tell me when the date would be announced.) but it still might happen soon. He's probably not allowed to say anything about it until it happens.

I don't like to bump a topic, but I think the point for very soon has passed.
Possibly the cheaper price ($30) is the good news. I think we have yet to hear it.
This is getting ridiculous...

I think the good news was the cost...I don't really see what else would qualify.

There is still not much time for the announcment. They always stressed the DD only release was partly due to being able to release it much earlier than usually. In addition the release date is Fall 2013 and since a few hours it's Fall (by metrological and common definition). I understand that delaying the announcement of the release date gives them more flexibility, but I rather have a fix release date than a possible release one week ealier without any announcement just before the due date.

I think there's no question that the "good news" was the cost. A release date wouldn't do anything to show that digital is a "great home for Phoenix", so I think that was it. Now, US players are getting 10 bucks off, but I've heard European players get really excited about the price, because according to them most retail games are almost twice the cost of DD. In fact, I've seen comments by people that were previously boycotting that have been won over by the European price.

So all in all, I think the price was the good news, and it is indeed good, if a little anti-climatic.

NOW JUST GIVE US A RELEASE DATE, CAPCOM.

I'm beginning to have an inkling... I believe someone in one of these topics mentioned something along the lines of this:
"Dual Destinies will be in a Nintendo Direct, and at the end of its trailer, they will say: Dual Destinies is available right NOW!"
It's Fall, we don't have a release date, so maybe Capcom is setting up a surprise. It would definitely be the 'good news' we've been waiting for. That would be one of the perks of going digital too. Anyone else think so?

Considering that Capcom is the publisher, it's highly doubtful that there'd be a Nintendo Direct dedicated to Dual Destinies (The Wonderful 101 was published by Nintendo). Plus, a visual novel probably couldn't hold a full Nintendo Direct because there wouldn't be much to talk about without going into spoilers.

However, I could see them announcing the release date (or "released now") at a normal Nintendo Direct. But I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom announced the release date on their own terms, considering their track record. I would be very disappointed if they never showed the game at all in a Nintendo Direct though, and I would still be disappointed if they didn't show it in its own section (instead of as part of a montage of multiple upcoming games).

I don't think Dual Destinies will get its own Nintendo Direct. They really need to publicize it, so I hope we get to see it in the next one, which likely will be in early October.

My earlier point was actually made moot because Monster Hunter 4 got their own JP Nintendo Direct, but the visual novel thing is still a major reason why DD wouldn't get its own. I definitely hope to see it in the next regular Nintendo Direct though.

Speaking of which, do we even have a date for the next Nintendo Direct? I'm hoping that AA:DD gets showcased there.

No, they're usually announced a few days before airing.
