Isn't the lore for the Western AA games that it takes place in an alternate timeline California where it was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants, leading to the Japanese influences? If so, it'd just be that Phoenix' ancestors were part of these immigrants and we'd be done.

I don't think that's explicitly the canon. I think that's just how Janet Hsu (I think that was her name?) justified on her blog the mix of Japanese and American elements in the localized games

I have a hard time with the whole alternate timeline California thing because I associate things like "alternate timeline" with sci-fi and while AA has futuristic elements, it's not a sci-fi story and the alternate timeline thing is just an explanation rather than a focus on the plot or anything.

I've always been able to get past the localization pretty quickly, as a lot of the big cities have areas like Japantown in San Francisco and Little Tokyo in L.A. Overall that explains a lot. Little details don't always make sense but at that point my brain just says "you know really why this stuff is in there, the game's been localized. Just stop worrying and enjoy the game". So I don't really worry about that part too much.

Honestly, the thing that gets me more than that is the weather. I have a hard time seeing it Snow in L.A. I've always kind of imagined that the games take place in more northern CA because at least then you can get a little more close to the weather. Once again, though, I've just given up trying to explain it since the actual location comes up so infrequently.

DGS seems really easy to me, as (as someone here mentioned) all it takes is for Phoenix's Ancestor (or a generation after) to come to America at some point.

It seems strange this one isn't being localized, since so much of it takes place in London and it has Sherlock Holmes in it. It must be the fact that its a spin-off, but I honestly don't believe it would sell any less than DD would. I feel like most of the people who bought DD were fans of the franchise.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Of course. Not happy about it at all but this is just Capcom being Capcom. -___-

In hopes of trying to get this game localized i took a page out of the Earthbound fanbase's book and started spamming the Miiverse community with messages saying Bring it to America!

It most likely won't work and will probably get me banned from miiverse for a while but it's all i can think of.

Only thing you're achieving with this is annoying the japanese players, there is no way capcom is going to read any of it on miiverse. Tweeting to them and posting on capcom-unity would be more effective.

Personally since DGS seems to have unfinished storyline. I'd rather wait the story to be finished and then localized. Who knows if Susato turns out to had a descendant herself that is for example Maggey Byrde or even Gumshoe.

That'd be kinda funny actually.

Hearing that kind of angers me because I'm hyped for it.

I'd say anger would be an appropriate response. True, Capcom hadn't really promised us a DGS localization, but I would think the fans would be expecting more western releases since AA5 and PLvsPW.

How about this? This was my reaction:

I don't think it's very appropriate at all. Anger in general over a lack of a localization baffles me a bit, especially over THIS localization
There were zero indications this would get localized, and many people here already theorized and warned people to be cautious with their hype

I'm greatly disappointed, but I'm not surprised. I'm still gonna hold out some fragment of hope for this game's official localization but in the meantime, I'll be hitting the books and learn some Japanese to get a better understanding of the game's story.

I can imagine some people (myself included) would rather play through the game themselves, though

Translation is kinda wonky, but still better than nothing. I can kinda still tell what's going on. Thanks for finding this, Oliver!
